EPOCH Body
The EPOCH offers a single hinge adjustment for fast eye width adjustment,
a Magnesium Alloy body and grip-friendly armor coating making it incredibly
light and durable. In addition, the EPOCH is fully waterproof, dust-proof, and
filled with nitrogen to make interior fog-ups impossible.
Eye-width Adjustment
The distance between the center of the eye pupils is known as interpupillary
distance. Since everyone has a different interpupillary distance, the EPOCH
has a hinge which allows for eye width adjustment.

Optical Quality
EPOCHTM Lenses
All external lens surfaces have a Hard CoatTM anti-reflective coating for
durability, and an anti-fog coating so inclement weather is never a problem.
Ocular lenses are hybrid aspheric for the least distortion of image and color.
The combination of Full-Multi coating on ocular lenses and Flat-lightTM
transmission coated objective lenses work to yield near perfect image
transmission.
EPOCH Prisms
Unique SF prism material combined with next generation phase correction
coating, and AL-HR reflective prism coatings complete a system with near
perfect light reflectivity.
Prisms are secured with five retention screws for extra impact resistance.

Locking Multi-Step Long Eye Relief
The Epoch's patented Locking Multi-Step Long Eye Relief System allows you
to adjust for the optimal field of view, whether or not you are an eyeglass
wearer. To adjust for individual eye relief, rotate and lock the eyecups into
one of the multiple settings. When adjustment is complete the user will have
a full field-of-view.
Eyeglass wearer adjustment
1. Rotate both eyepieces fully clockwise, figure 3.
2. Look through binocular to determine
whether there is a full image.
3. If not, rotate eyepieces counterclock
wise, one step (click) at a time, until it
is possible to see a full image.
4. Note setting for future reference.
1. Look at an object in the distance.
2. Move barrels until the two circular
images become one, figure 2(A).
 No shadows should be present,
figure 2(B).

Non-eyeglass wearer adjustment
1. Rotate both eyepieces fully counter-clockwise,
figure 4.
2. Look through binocular to determine whether
there is a full image.

Using the Bino Glove™ Lens Covers
Each Epoch Zoom binocular comes with a pair of
Brunton’s custom neoprene Bino Gloves and neck-
strap. The Bino Gloves are designed to protect
your binocular’s lenses, and they are made to be
easily removed or replaced in the field. It is rec-
ommended that you attach the female ends of the
neckstrap connectors to the binocular strap hooks
before placing the Gloves on the binocular. These
female ends can then be squeezed through the
strap connector eyelets on each Bino Glove. If
you need to remove the Bino Gloves while in the
field, they can be snapped to the neckstrap, keep-
ing them out of your way, yet easily accessible.

1. NEVER look directly into the Sun! Severe and permanent eye damage
could occur.
2. NEVER expose the EPOCH protective rubber coating to insect repellant
with DEET! Deet causes deterioration of rubber.
3. ALWAYS supervise children using the EPOCH! The neck strap could
cause strangulation.
4. Avoid extreme temperature changes, and protect the EPOCH lenses from
extreme heat and cold. Do not store in your vehicle.
5. Very carefully remove and replace the eyepieces, when cleaning. The
threads are delicate and could strip if care is not taken.
6. Do not wipe coarse debris off of the lenses. Either blow, or remove it
with a small, bristle brush, in a gentle circular motion.
7. Always wipe moisture off the entire binocular before storing in its
hard case.
8. Storing the EPOCH in its case will prevent damage from dust, debris,
extreme temperature changes, saltwater and high humidity.

Locking Diopter Adjustment
To correct for the difference of visual acuity between your left and right eyes,
the Epoch Zoom is equipped with a diopter adjustment ring. Adjustment can
be made by pulling down the focus wheel and turning the ring left or right,
depending on your needs. After choosing a suitable diopter setting, push the
focus wheel up to lock the ring, preventing readjustment during use.
Variable Speed FocusTM
The EPOCH is engineered with a Variable Speed Focus system allowing you
to focus from infinity to 6 feet in less than one rotation. A varying gear ratio
changes the rate of focus smoothly throughout the rotation of the focus
wheel for quick and precise adjustment.
Left Eye Focus Adjustment
1. Completely cover right objective lens to block all light.
2. Look through binocular at an object at least 100 feet away.
 Do not look through a window, or anything that could cause
distortion of light.
3. Rotate center focus wheel until left eye is
focused on the object, figure 5.
 Object should be a sharp, detailed
image.
4. Remove EPOCH from your eyes, and
uncover the right objective lens.
 Process should take at least 10
seconds to allow your eyes to readjust.

Very little maintenance is required on the EPOCH. However, to obtain the full
optic brilliance of the binocular, both the ocular and objective lenses must be
free of dirt, debris, oil and grease.
EPOCH lens cleaning
Remove large debris particles by blowing on the lenses, or by using a small,
soft bristle brush in a circular motion. Wipe lenses in a gentle circular mo-
tion, using a dry micro-fiber, optic cleaning cloth.
To remove oil and/or grease, use the moisture in your breath, then wipe in a
gentle circular motion, using the optic cleaning cloth.
Household glass cleaners and lens cleaning solutions are not recommended.
They can damage the Hard CoatTM.
8
Optional Pelican™Hard Case
The EPOCH Hard Case incorporates a neoprene o-ring which makes it a
completely waterproof and dust-proof storage system. It also has an o-
ring sealed, pressure purge valve, for quick equalization due to changes in
altitude or pressure.
For best protection, store the EPOCH and accessory items in this hard case.

Right Eye Focus Adjustment
1. Cover the left objective lens.
2. Unlock diopter by pulling toward
objective lens, figure 6(A).
3. Look through the binoculars at the same
object used for left eye adjustment.
4. Rotate diopter wheel until right eye is
in focus, figure 6(B).
5. Push diopter in to lock, figure 6(C).
6. Remove EPOCH from your eyes and
uncover left objective lens.
 Allow 10 seconds for your eyes to readjust.
7. With both lenses uncovered, view object again.
Object should be in focus.
If object is NOT in focus, follow both procedures again.
Once the EPOCH is in focus, note the personal diopter
setting. Now use the focus wheel to focus on objects as
close as 6 feet, or miles away.
Quick-connect neck strap system
The neck strap is designed for quick, no hassle removal.
Neck strap attachment
1. Remove both binocular attachment loops from the neck strap.

4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for the second
attachment loop.
5. Clip neck strap to both binocular
attachment loops.
6. Adjust neck strap until EPOCH hangs
comfortably around your neck.
Tripod Mount
Included with your EPOCH binocular is a
tripod and monopod adapter, figure 9.
This is especially helpful when extra
stability is required using a tripod or
monopod.
Tripod attachment
1. Attach the tripod mount to a tripod using
one of the two screw holes on the mount.
2. Unscrew tripod mount cover, figure 10.
3. Attach the binocular to the tripod mount
by aligning the threads then turning the
thumb screw.
