BUGERA BVP5500
Bass Amplifiers
Classic 550-WattValve Bass Amplier Head with
Valve Gain Control and 9-Band Graphic EQ
The nal three EQ lanes (2, 5 and 8 kHz)
handle the bulk of the upper harmonics,
and they can be critical to good sound.
BVP5500’s graphic EQ provides total
control of the ow of audio trac in
each of these nine lanes. When properly
applied, EQ makes it possible to hear all of
these frequency ranges equally, thus the
term equalization.
In addition to “equalizing” overall
frequency response of the system,
individual graphic EQ controls can also be
used to articially color sonic output by
emphasizing (raising) or de-emphasizing
(lowering) specic frequency bands. Put
simply, you can custom-tailor the sound of
your instrument by using the graphic EQ as
an elaborate 9-band tone control.
Ya Gotta Have Connections
For you non-purists, there’s an
Eects Loop and an Insert Channel
with Preamp Out and Power Amp In
connections for expanded versatility.
On the rear panel you’ll also nd one
of the handiest DI outputs available
anywhere, with an adjustable Level control,
Pre/Post select switch and ground lift.
In the “Pre” position the signal sent
through the DI is pre-everything—
pre-parametric EQ, pre-graphic EQ,
pre-insert-send-return and pre-master
volume, just pure unadulterated bass signal.
There is a dedicated Tuner jack and you
can tune in blissful silence by activating
the Mute button, which can also be
engaged via the included footswitch.
Speaker connections are available in
your choice of ¼" jacks or a twist-lock
connector that’s compatible with standard
Neutrik Speakon connectors.
Simple Operation
The BVP5500 is ready for your passive
or active bass, just plug in, start playing
and adjust the Gain knob until the Clip LED
barely comes on, then back it o a bit. If
the LED stays lit, even when the Gain is set
at zero, engage the -15 dB switch, then
readjust the Gain. Set your tone where you
want it and slowly adjust the Valve Gain
control counterclockwise to dial in the level
of tube compression. The sweet sound of
tubes is right at your ngertips.
Need even more?
How about a dedicated footswitch that
pulls double-duty for Mute and the graphic
EQ functions? What about an onboard
Limiter or FX loop? How about active,
temperature-controlled cooling?
The BVP5500 has all this and more.
