OPERATION MANUAL
About this Device
The 217 is the new record player for Burmester’s popular Top Line.
Inspired by the Burmester Reference Line’s multi-award-winning
175, the 217 also largely eschews technological aids in favour of top
playback quality, and is easy and intuitive to operate. During the
development and production of the device, Burmester called upon
its more than 35 years of experience in building equipment with
top-level phono signals, capitalising on this expertise to offer
a wider range of products in this field.
THE HIGHLIGHTS:
BELT DRIVE FOR LOW-RESONANCE
The 217 is equipped with two belt drive motors, which enable
near-perfect turntable running due to their high-precision
bearings, belts and controls.
In combination with the massive, low-resonance unibody housing
made of solid aluminium, this enables exceptionally precise and
exquisite playback of vinyl records.
HIGH-QUALITY MATERIALS FOR OPTIMUM SOUND PICKUP
Burmester’s 217 record player builds on its big brother, the 175.
On the straight tone arm tube, which is made of a unidirectional
carbon fibre compound (fibre-reinforced composite) sits a precisely
milled and offset aluminium headshell. The length between the
fulcrum and the tip of the stylus tip is 239.1mm – resulting in
just over 9inches of tone arm. The tone arm is gimbal-mounted.
Each 217 comes with a slipmat made of composite leather.
