Cleaning
and Maintenance
The filter MUST be cleaned after 5 (five) to 10 (ten)
sessions. A simple vacuum cleaner with nozzle may
be used to remove any and all dust or dirt particles
from filter. The paper filter MUST be replaced, at the
most, every two years. The assembly position for the
air filter can be viewed clearly once the air filter lid has
been removed. Take CAU-TION not to lose the seal
ring. Losing the seal ring will result in a complete loss
of suction capability.
Possible damage to the unit can occur if wet
horse/dog hair should come in contact with the paper
filter, causing the paper to become moist. A moist
paper filter will re-sult in the inability for the suction
pump to build suction.
Shouldthepaperfilterneedtobereplaced,makesure
to use ONLY original parts to avoid damaging the
suction pump or air filter.

EQUINE CUPPING THERAPY IN THE VETERINARY FIELD
//WE HAVE MADE IT OUR GOAL TO HELP HORSES ACHIEVE
PHYSICAL WELL-BEING AND REACH THEIR GREATEST
POSSIBLE PEAK PERFORMANCE
WHY USE CUPPING THERAPY?
Cupping therapy is one of the oldest methods of therapy in the world,
stemming from ancient China and is still a very popular, traditional
Chinese method of therapy in today’s world.
Cupping therapy has a very holistic affect: the blood circulation is
stimulated, physical tension is dissolved and physical pain and
inflammation is reduced; cupping therapy can even stimulate the
body’s inner organs to regenerate and heal themselves.
There are many different techniques to cupping therapy.
Christian Danner has partnered with many renowned specialists to find the perfect technique when
it comes to equine cupping therapy. Together with his partners, Christian Danner has produced the
most modern equine cupping machine on the market-- a machine that allows the user to set the air
pressure on an individual basis, which provides each mounted glass cup with the perfect amount of
suction. The result is a wide range of benefits: increased blood flow circulation of the tissue,
stimulation ofthelymphflow,andstrengtheningofthe immunesystem,as wellasreductionofbodily
tension, inflammation and stiffness. The body’s ability to regenerate, or, self-healits innerorganscan
be stimulated through activating the horse’s nervous system and various reflex zones along the
horse’s back.
The initial goal of cupping therapy is to strengthen the body’s ability to heal itself, activate the immune
system, and stimulate the body’s natural detoxification process, bringing it to its healthiest and fittest
form. Cupping therapy also activates the reflex zones along the horse’s back which are all connected
to the inner organs through nerve cells. The elimination of physical pain and/or inflammation is
achieved by counteracting the pain with an imitated pain caused by the suction from the glass cups.
This ‘’imitated pain’’ causes the body to attack the site of the acute pain and encourages self healing,
resulting in the reduction or complete elimination of the physical pain or inflammation which was
previously there.
// IT ONLY TOOK THE FIRST COUPLE OF TREATMENTS FOR US TO SEE JUST HOW
BENEFICIAL AND EFFECTIVE CUPPING THERAPY IS ON HORSES.//

FINDING THE NEURAL
POINTS ON A HORSE
7.2
Cleaning/Repair
The graphic on the left illustrates the most important
points of stimulation on a horse. These points are
identical on both sides of the horse. Placing multiple
suction cups on the horse and using them all at the
same time is a very effective way to give the horse
an extensive therapeutictreatment.
The areas that are most important to treat are the
upperand lower back region as well as the shoulder
area and lumbar area.
The following aspects are also very important:
The HEAD-ZONE:
Head-zones can be found all over the horse’s body
and are located in the dermatomes-- the skin
segmentswhichextend transversely along the spine
in outgoing webs. Head-zones are responsible for
many inner organs’ ability to receive reflexive
connection. These reflexive connections allow pain
or inflammation, coming from an inner organ, to
surface at the skin areal, or head-zone. This is what
is referred to as ‘’transmitted pain.’’ Stimulating the
targetedareal can influence the innerorgantowhich
it is connected to in a very positive manner.
NECK AND SHOULDER:
Stimulating specific anatomical points helps release
endorphins into the blood circulation, which relaxes
the muscles and prevents muscle spasms.
Increased blood flow, an increase in the ability to
absorb nutrients, and an increase in microbial
metabolicproductremovalarejustsomeofthemany
benefits resulting from muscle relaxation.
LIMBS:
Therapeutic treatment on the horse’s limbs is a great
way to increase overall blood flow throughout the
body; it also increases the oxygen content in the
bloodstream and helps with the accumulation and
storage of carbon dioxide needed to support the
horse’s body tissue. This speeds up the body’s ability
to transport nutrients to damaged body tissue while
ridding itself of harmful metabolic toxins. Moreover,
newly developed fibers are exposed, and the pain
caused by sensitivity in the nerves is temporarily
removed.
BACK:
Cupping therapy is performed primarily along the
horse’s back. The reflex zones are found along the
horse’s spine and hold the connection to the horse’s
inner organs. Symptoms caused by the body’s
failure to function properly will showup on the site of
the malfunction. Hardening of the skin, thickening or
swelling of the skin, and indentations in the skin all
are indications that something is not right. Cupping
therapy, when used specifically along the back,
activates the inner organs, producing an immediate
positive result on the body’s ability to effectively
alleviate and improve skin symptoms.
MYOPATHY:
Cupping therapy can also be used as a holistic
approach for healing stress-induced myopathies-- or
muscle diseases. The first stages of muscle disease
will often come off as as muscle stiffness or muscle
cramping in the neck, shoulders, back and croup
area.
Targeted areal treatment can ease the pain incurred
frommuscle disease for long-periods oftime.
RECOMMENDED TREATMENT:
The general amount of time needed to treat each
individual zone of the horse’s body is 5 - 10 seconds
with the air pressure being set at a bar unit of 0.2 -
0.3. However, the airpressure may be set at a lower
bar unit, which will increase the amount of time it
takestocompletetheindividualbodyzones,upto20
seconds.Abarunitof0.7maybeusedwhentreating
the horse’s back. As a general rule, setting the unit
bar above the maximum 0.9 should be prohibited.
A total of 10 - 15 minutes should be allotted for
treating each side of the horse, with the complete
treatment of the horse’s whole body not lasting
longerthan 20 - 25 minutes.

than its intended use can result in the following side
effects:
▪
circulatory disorders
▪
burn blisters
▪
skin reactions
Careful measures should be taken to ensure the
appropriate duration time foreach therapy session!
The average duration of a cupping therapy session
for humans is approx. 10 - 15 minutes. ‘’Cupping
therapy should not be seen as a self-treatment. It is
meant to be in the hands those who are certified
medical practitioners.’’

HOW TO OPERATE
THE EQUIPMENT ON
THE ANIMAL
THE HORSE’S NECK AREA
Use theglass cups H2 and H3, with a
medium-sized diameter, to make the
experience comfortable for the horse in
the sensitive areas of his neck.
USE OF H3
Aftera short period of suction, place the
H3 cup directly on the hardened areafor
approx. 5 - 10 seconds, for an immediate
improvement of the lymph flow and
detoxification of the deeptissue.
THE LUMBAR REGION
Many pains and problems which arisein
the horse’s lower back, or lumbar region,
can be treated with cupping therapy, and
will usually be resolved, orgreatly
reduced, after a number of sessions.
H2 RECOMMENDATIONS
Especially designed forthe larger
surface areas of the lumbar region, the
H2 glass cup offers a middle-sized
diameter and the strongest of all
suction levels. Compatible with H1.
USE OF H4
The H4 glass cup is the smallest of
suction cups. Thetwo knobs, one
placed on each side of the cup, make
for easy handling and precise
placement and fitting of the cup on the
horse’s body.
LIMBS
Should the cupping machine be used on
the legs, set the bar unit low enough so
that the suction pressure is comfortable
for the horse. A resttime of 5 - 10
seconds in between each individual
cupping stroke is necessary.
USE OF H1
For the sensitive, larger regions on the
horse’s body, specifically in the upper
back area, it is recommended to use the
H1 glass cup. Withits diameter being the
largest, this cup is optimal for bringing out
the best results.
UPPER BACK
Many ofthe Head Zones can be found
along both sides of the horse’s back,
which consists of the back, the croup,
and the pelvic area. This region is key
for stimulating and activating the inner
organs to start the self-healing process.
