Distances and interferences
The transmission distance may vary, depending on the frequency, environment,
radio waves, buildings, weather conditions, etc.
1.
When the transmitter is near such equipment as the TV set, R-LAN wireless
network, another transmitter, or when it is placed between other radio devices,
then the video stream may be interrupted or the devices might even lose the
connection. If this occurs, increase the distance between the interrupted devi-
ces and the transmitter.
The signal reception may vary, depending on the transmitter's working height
and angle. If the signal reception is not stable, optimise the antenna settings.
Meteorological radars operating within the frequency ranges of 5,250-5,350
MHz and 5,650-5,850MHz have the highest priority. These radars can interrupt
the device operation or even prevent it entirely.
2.
3.
4.
Warning
The antennas used for the transmission from this transmitter must be installed
according to the instruction manual and they must be placed at least 30cm from all
persons. The transmitter is not compatible with another antenna nor transmitter.

4. Module assembly on the pole:
Reverse the CDS-5IPmini unit. Insert the mounting clamps intended for the module
assembly on the pole into appropriate openings in the rear part of the device body.
Remember to loosen the mounting clamps with a screwdriver before pushing them
through the openings in the device body.
Stably fix the CDS-5IPmini module to the pole, firmly tightening the bolts of the moun-
ting clamps. The clamps are suitable for the assembly on poles with diameters between
32 and 70mm.
While installing units on outdoor poles, make sure to use overvoltage protection
for Ethernet cables. The pole must be earthed unconditionally. Failure to observe
these guidelines may result in damaging the equipment during lightning strikes.
This type of damage is not covered by the warranty.

Note! Any remote changes in the radio link settings after mounting the units on
the poles should begin at the transmitter side. Otherwise, changing the operation
channel in the receiver unit, for instance, may result in breaking the connection
with the transmitter units and, therefore, it might render their remote re-configu-
ration impossible.
Insert the plug of the standard cable with the RJ45 termination into the LAN
connector in the CDS-5IPmini module. Connect the other termination to
the connector marked as “Data & Power Out” in the PoE unit delivered together with
whole set. Connect the computer / IP camera / recorder with the network cable to
the second connector in the power supply unit, marked as “Data In”.
Plug the power cord with the RJ45tip to LAN connector in CDS-5IPmini module and the
other end into the "POE" connector splitter. Connect computer / IP camera / recorder
to "LAN" connector in the manifold by network cable.
Then, connect the cable from the power supply to the camera and splitter.
To configure any CDS-5IPmini module, follow the proper sequence, beginning at the
receiver point. Configure the module in the workshop environment, without prior hang-
ing it on the structure. Before setting the radio system, configure the IP camera. Install
it on the computer and check whether the video is being received correctly.
a) Check the addresses of the IP cameras and the address of the CDS-5IPmini
module. Set the computer IP address so that all the devices work within one
subnet (recommended IP addresses: 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.254). It is not
acceptable to set two identical addresses within one local network.

them one by one to the computer.

That the list of the MAC addresses of the units operated in the Bridge mode is
displayed indicates that the configuration is correct. To be on the safe side, discon-
nect the transmitter units from the computer and check again if the transmission
proceeds correctly, by clicking the Refresh button. That the devices communicate
with one another indicates that the radio link has been configured and launched
correctly. Type the IP camera address in the address bar of the browser and check
the video streaming quality. Proceed to the installation of the units on the struc-
ture.
The CDS-5IPmini modules allow scanning the ether to detect frequencies used in the
area. This tool comes in very handy while setting the operation channel. Thanks to it,
we know which channels to omit, and which are free and can be used for the wireless
transmission of signals from IP cameras. The selection of a channel which is already
being used by another transmission lines may lead to interferences or even to the loss
of any transmission.

The CDS-5IPmini devices have the option of securing video transmission with an
encryption key or such algorithms as WPA-PSK and WPA-PSK2.
To secure the transmission, select the Security Settings tab in the Wireless menu. In
the drop-down menu, click Authentication and select the protection method:
If the WPA data encryption method is selected, a network key is required, the same for
all the CDS-5IPmini units. The user can select the encryption key type in the Data
Encryption menu:
64-bit WEP: consists of no more than 10 hexadecimal characters.
128-bit WEP: consists of no more than 26 hexadecimal characters.
152-bit WEP: consists of no more than 32 hexadecimal characters.
1.
2.
3.
Open System: This option enables connecting to any device unit without any
protection measures.
WPA-PSK: This is the simplified WPA mode, which does not need any special
server for authentication. Instead, it uses the WPA network key, pre-determined
for every radio link node. This is an efficient solution for big- and medium-sized
stationary structures.
WPA2-PSK: Because this is the new WPA version, only clients with the WPA2 are
available. If this option is selected, the data encryption will proceed according to
the AES algorithm and a password will be required for communication.

9. External antenna connection.
If the WPA data encryption method is selected, a network key is required, the same one
for all the CDS-5IPmini units. The user can select the encryption key type in the Data
Encryption menu:
The CDS-5IPmini version has an integrated directional antenna, which needs no addi-
tional adjustment.
The CDS-5IPmini-SMA version does not have the integrated antenna and it is not
acceptable to connect the module without any external antenna.
The CDS-5IPmini module is available in two versions:
CDS-5IPmini
CDS-5IPmini-SMA
The CDS-5IPmini-SMA module connection without the external antenna may
damage the device. This type of damage is not covered by the warranty.
If the CDS-5IPmini-SMA module is used, set the output power of the device by
adjusting it to the gain of the antenna used. The EIRP may not exceed the permis-
sible power described in regulations applicable in the country of use. If not sure
how to configure the settings, consult with the seller.
