ing Case, featuring secure

Imagine premiering your own High Definition movies in your living room for your friends and family. The Canon
HR10 brings this scenario to life, completing your High Definition home theater experience with the world’s
smallest AVCHD DVD format camcorder.* Sleek and sophisticated, the HR10 combines the latest High Definition
technology, Genuine Canon Optics, precision engineering and sophisticated design to give demanding video-
graphers not only the ultimate in HD quality, but the ultimate in convenience as well.
Bring the Wonder of High Definition Home
Genuine Canon 10x HD Video Lens
Every Canon camcorder lens upholds
the standard of excellence Canon
has achieved through decades of
experience in manufacturing lenses
for professional broadcast and
photography. The HR10’s 10x HD Video Zoom Lens
delivers full HD image quality, with an aspherical
lens for low aberration, super spectra coating tech-
nology to reduce flare and ghosting, and a gradation
ND system for excellent exposure in bright light.
SuperRange Optical Image Stabilizer
Canon’s sophisticated SuperRange
Optical Image Stabilizer corrects cam-
corder shake instantly to ensure steady
shooting, even for hand-held video at
long focal lengths and shots taken with the camcorder
in motion as well as photos. And because it is an
optical system, there is none of the degradation of
image quality typical with electronic image stabilizers.
Canon Full HD CMOS Sensor (1920 x 1080)
Canon’s expertise in designing and manufacturing
CMOS sensors for its line of EOS Digital SLR cameras
is now available in the
Canon HR10 Camcorder.
The 2.96 Megapixel
Canon CMOS sensor
captures full HD infor-
mation at 1920 x 1080,
giving your images the
ultimate in realistic detail. Canon’s
advanced noise reduction techno-
logy, ensures the purity of each
pixel even in dim light, minimizing
noise and other aberrations. It incorporates an
RGB Primary Color Filter with Bayer placement to
deliver a sharp HD image with vibrant and accurate
color reproduction.
DIGIC DV II Image Processor
Canon’s next generation
DIGIC DV II Image
Processor was designed
specifically for HD, with
digital signal processing
that ensures optimal
photos as well. Color
reproduction is extremely accurate across
the tonal range, noise is minimized for
clear, clean images, and power consump-
tion is reduced for longer battery life.
AVCHD†Format
The HR10 uses the very
latest standard developed for High Definition:
AVCHD. By compressing video twice as efficiently as
conventional methods, the AVCHD standard enables
High Definition video to be recorded on a 3-inch
DVD. And for a new level of convenience, simply pop
the DVD into a compatible Blu-ray Disc™ Player to see
your own movies take center stage in your HD home
theater. DVD-R/-RW/-R DL formats are all supported.
Instant AF
Instant AF is Canon’s next-genera-
tion autofocus technology. An
external sensor works in combination with Canon’s
proven high-performance internal AF system to
dramatically reduce focusing time and increase
accuracy. It is especially effective when shooting
at night, in high-brightness conditions or when
following a moving subject. The high resolution of
HD video makes focus more critical than ever, and
Canon’s Instant AF helps videographers capture HD
images with expert precision.
Quick Start Button
The HR10 features a QuickStart button
that places the camcorder in standby
mode. Pressing the button again makes it ready for
immediate use. The Quick Start button conserves
battery power and ensures you’ll never miss a shot:
the ultimate in convenience.
24p Cinema Mode
24p Cinema Mode enables all aspiring
moviemakers to achieve a professional
“film-look.” You can change the camcorder's frame
rate to 24p, which provides the same frame rate as
movie film. In addition, you can use the HR10's CINE
setting, which changes the color and tonal charac-
teristics, evoking the look and feel of a movie shown
in a theater. For added flexibility, these settings can
be used together, or independently.
Convenient HDMI
Terminal
The HR10 allows easy connection to today’s latest
HD televisions through its HDMI Terminal. Only one
cable is needed to output a pure digital signal (video
and audio) for the ultimate viewing experience.
3.1 Megapixel Photos
Inside the HR10 Camcorder lives a
full-featured Canon digital camera,
allowing you to capture stunning 3.1 Megapixel high
resolution photos (2048 x 1536) onto a tiny miniSD
card. Just like an advanced Canon camera, the HR10
offers: 9-point AiAF (Auto Intelligent Auto Focus),
Metering Modes, Shutter- and Aperture-Priority,
Continuous Shooting Mode, Auto Exposure
Bracketing, and a Built-in Flash with Red-eye
Reduction. With the Histogram Display, you can
monitor the brightness of your shots, allow-
ing you to adjust successive shots to your
preference. It also features Direct Printing,
making it simple, quick and convenient to
produce high quality photos, just by connect-
ing to any PictBridge compatible printer.
Viewing Convenience and
Expert Results
The 2.7" Multi-Angle Vivid Widescreen
LCD on the HR10 lets you see more of
what your camcorder is recording.
Using a hard coat AR surface and improved color
reproduction, the scene in the LCD is more
accurate to what you're capturing in the camcorder.
Zoom in and/or enhance a subject’s outline for
perfect manual focus with the Focus Assist Button.
Check your shots against the horizontal marker
lines with Level Shot Control. Achieve professional-
looking balance with easily visible Grid Markers.
Random Access and Easy Editing
The HR10's ability to record direct to DVD offers many
advantages. You'll never tape over a once-in-a life time
piece of footage: and movies are always recorded to a
blank part of the DVD. And there's no need to rewind or
fast forward. The Canon HR10 is bundled with a powerful software suite
from Corel. This software allows you to easily perform a variety of func-
tions such as AVCHD video editing (trim, reorder, and combine scenes;
add music, titles, and transitions). And once you’re finished, you can burn
a full size AVCHD DVD or Standard Definition DVD.

Actual Size
† The Canon HR10 can capture both Standard Definition and High Definition
footage. High Definition footage in the AVCHD format can be finalized in
camera or copied onto DVD media with included software. However, DVD
media containing AVCHDfootage should only be used in AVCHD compatible
players otherwise the DVD player may fail to eject the media and may
erase its contents without warning.
