Take and review some test shots initially to make sure the images were
recorded correctly. Please note that Canon Inc ., its subsidiaries and
affiliates, and its distributors are not liable for any consequential damages
arising from any malfunction of a camera or accessory, including memory
cards, that result in the failure of an image to be recorded or to be
recorded in a way that is machine readable.
The user's unauthorized photographing or recording (video and/or sound)
of people or copyrighted materials may invade the privacy of such people
and/or may violate others' legal rights, including copyright and other
intellectual property rights. Note that restrictions may apply even when
such photographing or recording is intended solely for personal use.
The camera warranty is valid only in the area of purchase. In case of
camera problems while abroad, return to the area of purchase before
contacting a Customer Support Help Desk.
Although the screen and viewfinder are manufactured with very high
precision technology with over 99.99% effective pixels, 0. 01 % or fewer
of the pixels may be dead, and there may also be spots of black, red,
or other colors. This is not a malfunction. They do not affect the images
recorded.
The camera may become hot after repeated continuous shooting or still
photo/movie shooting overan extended period. This is not a malfunction.
When shooting with backlighting, keep the sun sufficiently away from
the angle of view. Always keep intense light sources such as the sun,
lasers, and other intense artificial light sources out of the image area and
not nearit. Concentrated intense light may cause smoke or damage the
image sensor or other internal components.
Attach the lens cap to prevent direct sunlight and other light from entering
the lens when you are not shooting.

PRODUCT CONTAINS BUTTON/COIN CELL BATTERY
Button/coin cell batteries are hazardous and must be kept out of reach of children at all
times, whether new or used.
These batteries can cause severe or fatal injuries in 2 hours or less ifswallowed or
placed inside any part of the body.
If it is suspected a button/coin cell battery has been swallowed or placed inside any part
of the body, seek medical attention immediately.
Use only power sources specified in this instruction manual for use with the product.
Do not disassemble or modify the product.
Do not expose the product to strong shocks or vibration.
Do nottouch any exposed internal parts.
Stop using the product in any case of unusual circumstances such as the presence
of smoke or a strange smell.
Do not use organic solvents such as alcohol, benzine or paint thinner to clean the
product.

Safety Instructions
Observe the following instructions when using commercially available batteries or
provided battery packs.
• Use batteries/battery packs only with their specified product.
• Do not heat batteries/battery packs or expose them to fire.
• Do notcharge batteries/battery packs using non-authorized battery chargers.
• Do not expose the terminals to dirt or letthem come into contact with metallic pins
or other metal objects.
• Do not use leaking batteries/battery packs.
• When disposing of batteries/battery packs, insulate the terminals with tape or other
means.
This may cause electric shock, explosion or fire.
If a battery/battery pack leaks and the material contacts your skin or clothing, flush the
exposed area thoroughly with running water. In case of eye contact, flush thoroughly
with copious amounts of clean running water and seek immediate medical assistance.
Observe the following instructions when using a battery charger or AC adapter.
• Periodically remove any dust buildup from the power plug and power outlet using
a dry cloth.
• Do not plug in or unplug the productwith wet hands.
• Do not use the product if the power plug is not fully inserted into the power outlet.
• Do notexpose the power plug and terminalsto dirt or letthem come intocontactwith
metallic pins or othermetal objects.
• Do not touch the battery charger or AC adapter connected to a power outlet during
lightning storms.
Do not place heavy objects on the powercord. Do not damage, break or modify the
power cord.
Do not wrap the product in cloth or other materials when in use or shortly after use
when the product is still warm in temperature.
Do not unplug the product by pulling the powercord.
Do not leave the product connected to a power source for long periods of time.
Do not charge batteries/battery packs attemperatures outside the range of 5-40 °C
( 41-104 °F ).
This may cause electric shock, explosion or fire.
Do not allow the product to maintain contact with the same area of skin for extended
periods of time during use.
This may result in low-temperature contact burns, including skin redness and blistering,
even if the product does notfeel hot. The use of a tripod or similar equipment is
recommended when using the product in hot places and for people with circulation
problems or less sensitive skin.
Follow any indications to turn offthe product in places where its use is forbidden.
Notdoing so may cause other equipment to malfunction dueto the effect of
electromagnetic waves and even result in accidents.
Do not leave batteries near pets.
Pets biting a battery could cause leakage, overheating, or explosion, resulting in
product damage or fire.

Strap is intended for use on the body only. Hanging the strap with any product
attached on a hook or other object may damage the product. Also, do not shake the
product or expose the product to strong impacts.
Do not apply strong pressure on the lens or allow an object to hit it.
This may cause injury or damage to the product.
Onlymount the product on a tripod that is sufficiently sturdy.
Do notcarry the product when it is mounted on a tripod.
This may cause injury or may result in an accident.
Do not touch any parts inside the product.
This may cause injury.
If anyabnormal skin reaction or irritation occurs during or following the use of this
product, refrain from further use and get medical advice/attention.
Do not touch the screen storage compartment (A), because its temperature
can increase by repeated continuous shooting for extended time or movie
recording. This may cause burns.

2 Remove the lens and
camera cap.
3 Attach the lens.

Align the red mount index on
the lens with the red mount
index on the camera and turn
the lens as shown by the arrow
until it clicks in place.
Detaching
While pressing the lens
release button, turn the
lens as shown by the
arrow.
Turn the lens until it stops, then
detach it.
Attach the rear lens cap to the
lens you removed.

Setting Up the
Camera
A setting screen is displayed on
initial startup.
