The VB-M40 uses the H.264 image compression format to
improve network transmission speeds, while maintaining
full-frame 1280 x 960 pixel (1.3 megapixel) images.
In addition, the camera uses Smart Shade Control to
brighten underexposed areas and to improve contrast.
Through the process of complex algorithms, the VB-M40 is able
to offer an unprecedented level of detection not seen in other
competing brands, including the ability to detect abandoned
or moving objects in a frame.
As a testament to Canon’s insatiable dedication to optical
technology, the new VB-M40 network camera comes packed
with advanced features that integrate the best in optical
hardware and surveillance solutions. With digital imaging
surveillance finding more prevalence in business environments, the

The VB-M40 boasts exceptional
sensitivity in low-light conditions,
ensuring that the lack of adequate
lighting never impedes the
surveillance process. An automatic
5-level brightness function faithfully captures colors and details
of objects regardless of the ambient light source.

PRESERVING YOUR PRIVACY
Going above and beyond standard
security measures is the VB-M40’s
ability to block user-defined
areas in the camera’s view. This
innovative function allows up to 8
areas to be digitally masked from view via colored rectangles.
With a built-in SD Memory Card slot that supports SDHC
memory cards up to 32GB, the VB-M40 does more than
just stream data to servers. In the event of a breakdown in
data transmission, the VB-M40 can automatically record
operation logs and images simultaneously to minimize potential
operational disruptions.
EXPANDED CONNECTIVITY WITH ONVIF
The VB-M40 supports the Open Network Video Interface Forum
(ONVIF) communication standard for enhanced compatibility
with ONVIF-compatible devices from other vendors. With
ONVIF support, System Integrators will find the VB-M40
exceedingly easy to integrate into existing installations.

The VB-M40 also comes packaged
with RM-Lite, a video recording
software specially created to
leverage on the capabilities of
Canon's new range of network
cameras. The RM-Lite software allows recording from up to 4
cameras, making the VB-M40 highly suited for small to medium-
sized installation, without the need to purchase additional
recording software.
EASY INSTALLATION WITH PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE)
technology enables the VB-M40
to receive both data and power
through a single LAN cable.
Once the camera is connected to
a PoE enabled hub, no additional electrical installation work
is required.
