BuddyButton
The BuddyButton is especially
built for real time monitoring and
can be used in all areas of life
from walking the dog to going
shopping with friends. It is suitable
for vulnerable adults, the elderly,
people living with dementia,
people convalescing or anyone
who feels they could benet from
a little extra reassurance when
going about their daily routine.
Using latest advanced GPS and
wireless technology combined
with IPX6 waterproofness and
an innovative miniature size, it
increases safety and reduces
stress.
When needed, you can
communicate your BuddyButton’s
exact position. You or a family
member can request location
and view your BuddyButton’s
position on the map. The
BuddyButton can be used with
any smartphone and you do not
need to install any applications*.
The device is designed for use on
the 2G/850/900/1800/1900 MHz
mobile networks.
Please be aware the BuddyButton
will not work in ‘black spots’ where
there is no mobile or GPS signal.
If you go into an area that does
not have a GPS signal, such as
a tunnel or parking garage the
device will know your location 10
minutes before entering such an
area. The device will relay data
as soon as the GPS signal is
recovered.

Please read this document before using the product. Neglecting the
rules may be dangerous or illegal. Further detailed information is given
in this manual.
Do not switch on
the product when
wireless phone use
is prohibited or may
cause interference
or danger.
Do not use the
product in hospitals.
Follow the hospital
regulations or
rules. Switch off
the product near
medical equipment.
Do not use
the product on
aircrafts. Wireless
devices can cause
interference in
aircraft.
Do not use
the product
at a refueling
point. Do not
use the product
near fuel or
chemicals.
Do not use the product
where blasting is in
progress. Observe
restrictions and follow
any regulations or rules.
Never try to disassemble or service the product. If you experience any

Use only approved accessories. Do not connect incompatible battery
charger or charge other devices with the BuddyButton charger. A wrong
charger may damage the device.

Charging your
BuddyButton
The BuddyButton is equipped with
an internal rechargeable battery.
The autonomy of the battery may
vary depending on the GPS and
GSM activity and the use of the
device.
Your BuddyButton will arrive fully
charged and will last up to 16
hours depending on usage. When
the battery is fully depleted, it
will need charging for around 2-3
hours, using the USB charger or
the docking station;
• Place the device on the docking
station on a slight angle until you
hear it click and a faint red light
comes on the docking station.
• Connect the Micro USB side of
the cable to the docking station
port and connect the other end
of the cable to the designated
AC power source (USB/AC
adaptor).
• When charging, the red LED (on
the docking station) will be on.
NOTE: A wrong charger may
damage the device. Use only the
original BuddyButton charger.
The ideal temperature range for
charging is between +10°C and
+30°C. The battery life might be
shortened if charging the battery
outside of this temperature range.
Switching on the device
To turn on the BuddyButton:
Press the side power button for
1 second, all the LEDs will ash
rapidly. The BuddyButton can also
be turned on automatically by
charging via USB or placing it in
the docking station.
To get an initial rst location, stay
outdoors or near a window so
the device can x itself onto the
satellites.
Switching off the device
To turn off the BuddyButton: Press
and hold the side button and SOS
button together for 1 second until
the LEDs turn off.

Low battery alarm
When the BuddyButton’s battery is
less than 15%, it will automatically
contact our control centre who
will ring you to tell you to put it
on charge. A blue light will ash
rapidly to advise the user to
charge the device as soon as
possible.

What do the lights on the BuddyButton mean?
Rapid single ash every 3 seconds
- Device is connected to the GSM

GPRS network
Slow ash every 3 seconds -
Device is connecting to the GSM
network
Light solid (not ashing) - No SIM
card is detected

Activating the SOS BuddyButton Alarm
Press and hold the SOS button
for 3 seconds until the device
vibrates and bleeps. It will say
‘your call will be answered shortly’
and connect you to one of our
call operators (providing there is
network coverage).
What happens when I press my BuddyButton at
home?
1. Once you press the button
you will be linked to Careline
Community Service where
our friendly and professional
operators will talk to you
and take appropriate action,
whether it be contacting a
friend or family member to
alert them of the problem or
contacting the emergency
services.
2. If we cannot hear you then
we will always try and call you
back on your telephone. If
you don’t have a phone or are
unable to answer, then once
again we will contact one of
your friends or family to ask
if they can come to see if you
need any help.
3. If your friends or family are not
available then we will call the
emergency services to attend.
We will give them your keysafe
code so they will be able to
open the door to your property.
4. No call goes left unresolved,
we will always get someone to
check that you are ok.
What happens when I press my BuddyButton away
from home?
When you press your button our
operators will talk to you through
the device and take appropriate
action, whether it be contacting a
friend or family member to alert
them of the problem or contacting
the emergency services. The
BuddyButton will pinpoint your
location so we will know where
you are and can pass this
information on.

Incoming Calls
Occasionally our call centre will
call you via the BuddyButton. You
will hear a ringing sound and you
need to press the SOS button
once to answer. After you have
nished you need to press and
hold the SOS button again to
disconnect the call.
Falls Detection
The BuddyButton has a falls
detection function but this only
recognises sudden impact falls,
not staggered or slumped falls. If
a sudden impact fall occurs and
the BuddyButton hits the oor it
must remain in a lying position for
at least 10 seconds. After this the
device will beep several times and
dial through to our call centre. We
strongly recommend you press
the SOS button yourself if you are
able to, to ensure that the call is
connected to our call centre.
Checking Status – ie
location, battery level
To nd out the status of the
BuddyButton including the
location and battery level send
SMS command; Loc to the
phone number of the device.
You will receive a response
displaying the time, date, latitude,
longitude, speed, altitude, battery
percentage and a link to google
maps which will display the
location.
