Donning the DAFO 9 Softy
Adjustable Night-Stretching Brace
The DAFO 9 Softy is a stretching brace used to
increase or maintain dorsiexion range.
Turn Over
1Loosen, move,
remove inner liner
Loosen and unhook all straps
and move hinged portion of
the brace backward. Remove
the inner liner.
Open and slide
Slide the inner liner onto the
patient’s foot ensuring it’s fully
seated in the heel cup. Slide the
outer shell over the inner liner.

Attach
Securely attach the instep and
forefoot straps.

4Hook
Hook each stretching strap to
the magnet.

Tips
Ask your clinician to mark the straps for
the recommended stretch. (see g. 1)
Establish a proper break-in schedule
before tightening the stretching straps.
Build up the wearing time and amount
of stretch slowly. The most common
pitfall is to over-stretch too quickly and
discourage the child from using the brace.
Wear a comfortable moisture-wicking sock.

Adjust
Adjust each strap through the
ladder lock and tighten until a
mild stretch is achieved or to
the line drawn on the strap by
your clinician.
Thread
Thread remaining strap
through tri-slide to maintain
tension and keep it in place.
