1 Operating Manual
1.1 General
Please read the information contained herein so that you can become familiar with your
device quickly and take advantage of the full scope of its functions.
Your Perfect Cup will serve you for many years if you handle it and care for it properly. We
wish you a lot of pleasure in using it!
1.2 Information on this manual
These Operating Instructions are a component of the Perfect Cup (referred to hereafter as
the Device) and provide you with important information for the initial commissioning,
safety, intended use and care of the device. The Operating Instructions must be available
at all times at the device. This Operating Manual must be read and applied by every
person who is instructed to work with the device: •Commissioning
•Operation •Troubleshooting and/or •Cleaning Keep the Operating
Manual in a safe place and pass it on to the subsequent owner along with the device.
1.3 Warning notices

2 Safety
This chapter provides you with important safety notices when handling the device.
The device corresponds with the required safety regulations. Improper use can result in
personal or property damages.
2.1 Intended use
This device is only intended for use in households in enclosed spaces for cooking/brewing
of coffee, milling of roasted coffee beans. This device is intended for use in the household
and for similar applications such as: in kitchens for employees in shops, offices, and
other commercial areas; in B&Bs, in agricultural estates;
•by customers in hotels, motels and other residential establishments.
Uses for a different purpose or for a purpose which exceeds this description are
considered incompatible with the intended or designated use.
Do not chop very hard ingredients such as ice.
WARNING
Danger due to unintended use! Dangers can emanate from the device if it is used for an
unintended use and/or a different kind of use.
►Use the device exclusively for its intended use.
►Observe the procedural methods described in this Operating Manual.
Claims of all kinds due to damages resulting from unintended uses are excluded.
The User bears the sole risk.

2.2 General Safety information
PLEASE NOTE
Please observe the following general safety notices with
regard to the safe handling of the device.
►Read all these instructions before using the appliance.
►Examine the device for any visible external damages
prior to using it. Never put a damaged device into
operation.
►This device can be used by persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning the use of the
appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards
involved.
►Children shall not use this device. Keep the device and its
cord out of reach of children.
►Children shall not play with the device.
►Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by
children.
►Do not leave the device unsupervised when it is in
operation.
►Do not operate the device if it is empty. This could
damage the device.
►Do not leave the power cord hanging within children's
reach.
►The power cord must never be near or in contact with the
hot parts of the machine, near a source of heat or over a
sharp edge.
►Do not disconnect the plug from the socket by pulling on
the cord.

PLEASE NOTE
►Only customer service departments authorized by the
manufacturer may carry out repairs on the device, as
otherwise the guarantee entitlements will be null and void
in the event of any subsequent damages. Improperly
performed repairs can cause considerable dangers for the
user.
►Defective components must always be replaced with
original replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee
that the safety requirements are fulfilled.
►For your own safety, only use manufacturer accessories
and spare parts suited to your device.
►Device is not intended to be operated by means of an
external timer or separate remote-control system.
►Switch the device off before pulling the plug.
►The device may give off some smoke and smell when
you use it for the first times because of production
residues on some parts, this will disappear soon and is
normal.
►Always remove the plug from outlet in case of any
malfunction, or before filling, before assembling/
disassembling and after use or before cleaning.
2.3 Sources of danger
2.3.1 Danger of injury
WARNING
By careless use of the device risk of injury exist because of
sharp edges. Note the following warnings to avoid injury.
►Avoid contacting moving parts.
►The blades of the grinder are sharp, do not touch them.

WARNING
►Be careful during assembling/disassembling of knob for
the grinder and of the grinder, and during cleaning of the
grinder.
►The coffeepot is made of glass. Glass breakage can
result in sharp and fierce edges. There is a risk of injury.
►Do not use the coffeepot if it is damaged.
2.3.2 Danger of burns
WARNING
Please observe the following safety notices in order not to
burn or scald yourself or others.
►Never touch the hot parts of the device.
►There is a risk of burns due to hot surfaces: The coffee
outlet, the filter door with filter holder and lid, the
permanent filter or paper filter and the coffeepot are very
hot during and shortly after the making of coffee. Hold the
coffeepot only at its handle.
►The warming plate becomes hot and can be hot after use
caused by residual heat.
►Be careful not to get burned by the steam escaping from
the vent. Do not cover the steam vent.
►Temperature of the coffee is high, handle the coffeepot
with care to avoid scalding.
►Please always try the temperature of the coffee, before
drinking.
►The lid must always remain closed during coffee brewing!

2.3.3 Dangers due to electrical power
DANGER Mortal danger due to electrical power!
Mortal danger exists when coming into contact with live
wires or subassemblies! Observe the following safety
notices to avoid dangers due to electrical power:
►Do not operate this device if it has a damaged cable or
plug, if it is not working properly or if it has been damaged
or dropped. If the power cable or plug are damaged, then
they must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service
agent in order to avoid a hazard.
►Do not open the housing on the device under any
circumstances. There is a danger of an electrical shock if
live connections are touched and the electrical or
mechanical structure is altered. In addition, functional
faults on the device can also occur.
►Do not put the device, power cord or plug in water or any
other liquid.
►Be careful and avoid water spillage on the plug.
3 Commissioning
This chapter provides you with important safety notices during the initial commissioning of
the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:
3.1 Safety information
WARNING
►Packaging materials may not be used for playing. There is a danger of suffocation.
3.2 Delivery scope and transport inspection
As a rule, the Perfect Cup is delivered with the following components:
•Perfect Cup •coffeepot •filter holder with lid •permanent filter
•coffee spoon •brush for cleaning •operating instructions
PLEASE NOTE
►Examine the shipment for its completeness and for any visible damages.
►Immediately notify the carrier, the insurance and the supplier about any incomplete
shipment or damages as a result of inadequate packaging or due to transportation.

3.3 Unpacking
To unpack the device, proceed as follows:
•Remove the device out of the carton and remove the packaging material.
3.4 Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the device against damages during transit. The packaging
materials are selected in accordance with environmentally compatible and recycling-
related points of view and can therefore be recycled. Returning the packaging back to the
material loop saves raw materials and reduces the quantities of accumulated waste. Take
any packaging materials that are no longer required to “Green Dot” recycling collection
points for disposal.
PLEASE NOTE
►If possible, keep the original packaging for the device for the duration of the guarantee
period of the device, in order that the device can be re-packaged properly in the event
of a guarantee claim.
3.5 Setup location requirements:
In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the setup location
must fulfil the following prerequisites:
•Only use this device on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from water splashes
and any heat sources. Never use the device outdoors and always place in a dry
environment.
•Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or near
flammable material.
•Do not operate the device under delicate furniture as the escaping steam could damage
them.
•Choose the setup location in such a way that children cannot reach any hot surfaces on
the device.
•The electrical socket must be easily accessible so that the power lead can be
disconnected easily, in the case of an emergency.
•The installation and assembly of this device in non-stationary setup locations (e.g. on
ships) must be carried out by specialist companies / electricians, provided they
guarantee the prerequisites for the safe use of this device.
3.6 Electrical connection
In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the following
instructions must be observed for the electrical connection:
•Before connecting the device, compare the connection data (voltage and frequency) on
the rating plate with those of your electrical network. This data must agree in order that
no damages occur in the device. If in doubt, ask your qualified electrician.

•The use of multiple plugs or gangs is prohibited because of the danger of fire that is
involved with this.
•Make sure that the power cable is undamaged and has not been installed under the
device or over hot or sharp surfaces.
•The electrical outlet must be protected by a 16A safety cut-out switch.
•The electrical safety of the device is only guaranteed if the device is connected to a
properly installed protective conductor system. If in doubt, have the house installation
checked over by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer cannot be made responsible
for damages that are caused by a missing or damaged protective conductor.
3.7 Rating plate
The rating plate with the connection and performance data can be founded on the bottom
of the unit.
4 Operation and Handing
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device.
Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:

►Do not leave the device unsupervised when it is in operation, so that you can intervene
quickly in the event of dangers.

PLEASE NOTE
►Never fill the water tank beyond max-marking. Do not use the device in case of
overflowing. The filter door has to be closed, otherwise the coffeepot cannot be placed
correctly under the drip stop of the filter holder.

WARNING
►Keep the filter door closed during operation. There is a risk of scalding.
4.2 Assembling and disassembling of grinder and knob
Unplug the device:
Disassembling: Remove the lid of bean container. Push the button for release of knob (4)
to the side and remove it upwards. Turn the grinder anti clockwise, then take it at its
handle and pull it upwards vigorously.
Assembly: Replace the grinder and turn it clockwise until it latches. On the underside of
the knob are receptions for the pins which are located on the side of the grinder.
Push the button for release of knob (4) to the side. Replace the knob so that the squared
pin reception is placed on the squared pin (A) and the round pin receptions are placed on
the round pins (B).
PLEASE NOTE
►The device shows “E3”. The knob is not placed correctly or the grinder is blocked. Place
knob correctly. Clean the grinder.
WARNING
►The blades of the grinder are sharp, do not touch them. Be careful during
assembling/disassembling of knob for the grinder and of the grinder, and during
cleaning of the grinder.

4.3 Warning notices
ATTENTION
Attention. Danger due to hot surface!
►Do not touch the hot surfaces of the device. Danger of burns!
►Do not set or lay any items on the device.
►The warming plate is hot after activation of ready mode.
4.4 Display and buttons

4.5 Set the clock
Plug the device in. The display shows and. Set the hour with
and confirm with . Then set the minute with and confirm with .
4.6 Before using your device for the first time
Operate the device with maximum amount of water but without paper filter, coffee beans
and also without ground coffee. To do this fill the water tank up to maximum mark, switch
to operation for making coffee with ground coffee with and select 10 cups with
, then the start the operation with . Repeat this.

4.7 Making Coffee
WARNING
►Warning symbol: hot steam.
►Caution hot steam can escape from device. Risk of burns.
4.7.1 Preparations
Place the filter holder into the filter door. Insert the permanent filter into the filter holder or
fold the bottom of a paper filter with 1x4 size and insert it into the filter holder.
Fill up to 150 g beans (depending on roasting degree of coffee beans).
PLEASE NOTE
►The knob has to be placed, before filling of beans.
►Keep the watertank closed during the filling of beans.
Or: Fill desired amount of ground coffee into the filter.
PLEASE NOTE
►Do not fill too much ground coffee into the filter,otherwise the coffee grounds could
overflow.
Place the lid on the filter. Close the filter door.
Place the coffeepot on the warming plate below the drip stop of the filter holder.
Fill water up to maximum marking into the water tank.
Set the desired quantity of cups with . The device will pull out the water from water
tank depending on set quantity of cups. The process is audible.
Place lid on the bean container.
4.7.1 Making coffee from ground coffee
Finish the preparations. Set the strength of the flavour of the brewed coffee ( mild,
strong) with .
Chose function for making coffee from ground coffee with , so that lights up
in red. Start the brewing process with . Then will light up in red and the device
starts working immediately. The device beeps when brewing has finished.
To stop the process press so that the button will light up in white. The button
remains red and indicates that function for making coffee from ground coffee is selected.
Press the button until it lights up in white to cancel this selection.

4.7.1 Making coffee from freshly ground beans
Finish the preparations. Set the grinding degree by turning the knob for the setting of
grinding degree for finer grinding downwards and turn it upwards for coarser grinding.
Set the strength of the flavour of the brewed coffee ( mild, strong) with .
Start the grinding and brewing process with , so that the button lights up in red. The
grinding process will start, after that the coffee is brewed from freshly ground coffee. The
device beeps when brewing has finished. To stop this process, press so that the
button lights up in white.
4.7.1 Keep warm
The device keeps the coffee warm for 35 minutes after brewing and button lights up
in red. After this device will beep and stops the process. The button will light up in
white. If you want to stop the keep warm process earlier then press .
PLEASE NOTE
►The amount of brewed coffee may differ from the amount of water as coffee ground
absorbs different amount of water depending on the amount and degree of grinding of
the coffee ground.
►The device is equipped with a drip stop system which enables you to serve coffee
before all the water has dripped through. Quickly put the coffeepot back in place to
avoid any overflowing.
►Do not fill hot water into the watertank.
►Never fill the watertank beyond max-mark.
►Do not tilt the coffeepot over 45 ° when pouring coffee.
►Always keep the lid closed when the device is operating. Never use the coffeepot
without the lid.
►Use the grinder to grind roasted coffee beans only.
►Do not use any caramelized or sugar-glazed coffee beans.
►No ground coffee may be filled into the bean container.
WARNING
►Do not touch the coffee outlet during or immediately after use. There is a risk of scalding
and burns.
►The warming plate is hot during keep warm. Danger of burns.
►Switch the device off when you have removed the last coffee from the coffeepot. Do not
place empty coffeepot on the warming plate.

4.7.1 Timer
Finish the preparations and set the strength of the flavor of the brewed coffee. For making
coffee from coffee beans set the desired grinding degree. For making coffee from ground
coffee select the function for this with , so that the button lights up in red.
The clock has to be set already. Then hold until the time flashes. Then set the
desired start time for the brewing or brewing and grinding process. Set the hour with
and confirm with . Then set the minute with and confirm with ..
Then lights up in red and the timer is activated.
If you have previously set the timer, then press only briefly, then the set timer is
displayed. Confirm it with . Then lights up in red and the timer is activated.
If you want to deactivate the timer, then press , so that the button lights up in white.
4.7.1 The device shows Lo
There is not enough water in the watertank for the desired quantity of cups. The device
switches to keep warm mode after 5 beeps and will not automatically go on with brewing
even if you refill the watertank. Therefore, the coffee could be too strong for your taste.
In this case: Fill water to maximum mark in the water tank. Chose function for making
coffee from ground coffee for the not brewed quantity of cups and start the process.
5 Cleaning and Maintenance
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to cleaning and maintaining
the device. Please observe the notices to prevent damages due to cleaning the device
incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.
5.1 Safety information
ATTENTION
Please observe the following safety notices, before you start cleaning the device:
►The device (especially the grinder) must be cleaned at regular intervals and limescale
should be removed.
►Always descale the device regularly to ensure optimum performance and prevent
malfunction.
►Switch the device off prior to cleaning it and unplug the plug.

ATTENTION
►The coffee outlet, filter door with filter holder and lid, the permanent filter, paperfilter and
the coffeepot are hot during and after their use. The warming plate becomes hot and
can be hot after use caused by residual heat. Let the device cool down before cleaning
or storing it.
►The blades of the grinder are sharp, do not touch them. Be careful during
assembling/disassembling of knob for the grinder and of the grinder itself, and during
cleaning of the grinder.
►Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
►Do not scrape off stubborn dirt with hard items.
5.2 Cleaning
•Throw the paper filter with coffee grounds away.
•Coffeepot, water tank, permanent filter, filter holder with lid, and the lid of bean
container can be cleaned under running water. Press the drip guard in the filter holder
several times.
•Wipe the housing and warming plate and the knob of the grinder with a damp cloth.
•To clean the grinder remove it and clean it with the cleaning brush.
•Alternatively, it is possible to remove the coffee grounds residues with a vacuum
cleaner.
•Dry all parts thoroughly before reassembling them.
WARNING
►Do not clean the device when it is hot.
►Never put the device (besides above mentioned parts) into water or under running
water.
►Be sure to unplug the device before cleaning. To protect against electrical shock do not
immerse cord, plug or unit in water or liquid.
5.3 Descaling
Depending on the hardness of water you should descale the device once every month.
PLEASE NOTE
►If needed descale also the permant filter.
Fill the water tank with one quarter of white vinegar and three quarters of water.
Plug in the mains plug and select the function for making coffee from ground coffee and for
10 cups. Brew the mixture completely and then pour it away. Repeat the process until no
limesale is left. Then brew 10 cups of water 1-2 times and repeat the process if necessary
until there is no noticeable odor of vinegar. Pour the water away.

PLEASE NOTE
►Regularly decalcifying of your device will reduce the electricity used and prolong the life
of the device.
►The guarantee excludes devices which have stopped working or do not work properly
due to lack of descaling.
6 Troubleshooting
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device.
Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:
ATTENTION
►Only qualified electricians, who have been trained by the manufacturer, may carry out
any repairs on electrical equipment.
►Improperly performed repairs can cause considerable dangers for the user and
damages to the device.
6.1 Causes and rectification of faults
