STEP1:Laypost(markedA)onflatsurface.PlacetheHeader(markedC)withdeep
notchfacingup71/2”fromthetop.(AsshowninPhoto1)
Drillpilotholeswitha1/8”bit,thenattachtheHeadertothepostusingLag

STEP2:LiftthecompletedassemblyoftheHeaderandPost(asshowninPhoto3),be
suretohavetheHeaderfacingoutward,repeatstepsfortheadjacentendof
thepergola(asshowninPhoto4)

STEP5:Ladders.
Onaflatsurface,positionaroofrafternotchfacingup.Ateachend,measure5½”
fromthenotchtomarkwheretheJoistblockswillbeplaced(Photo8).Onceboth
raftershavebeenmarkedandsecurelyscrewedinusingtwo3”screws(Photo8b),
Space203/8”betweeneachoftheblocksremaining.Repeatthesesteps,creating3
ladders.

STEP6:Placethecompletedladdersnotchdown(Photo11).Startwiththefirstladder
snugagainsttheedgeofthepost.Screwcorners(usingtwo3”screws)ofthe
outsideladderstothepost.Screwthesecondladder,spaced20⅜”fromthe
firstladderandsecureateachendtotheHeader(usingfour3”screws).

repeatuntilblocksareallevenlyaddednexttoeachladderblock.
