Unpack your telescope and verify that all parts are
present. Your NexStar 102SLT MAK includes: a
telescope tube, a tripod, a motorized fork arm mount,
an accessory tray, two eyepieces, a 90° star diagonal,
a finderscope, a NexStar hand control and hand
control holder.
To set up the tripod, spread the legs outward until
they are fully extended and push down center leg
brace.

Extend the legs of the tripod by loosening the three
hand knobs on each leg. Pull each leg section all the
way out and tighten the hand knobs down to secure
them in place. Use the bubble level on the tripod head
to ensure the tripod is level.

Quick Setup Guide
Place the hole in the accessory tray over the bayonet
mount on the tripod’s center leg brace. Rotate the
accessory tray until the three locking tabs insert into the
locking clips on each section of the central leg brace.
Snap the hand control holster, with the square tab
facing upward, around any one of the tripod legs.
Place the motorized fork arm over the top of the
tripod head and tighten the large captive knob
between the tripod legs to lock the mount in place.
Attach the telescope optical tube by positioning
the dovetail into the dovetail holder on the fork arm.
Make sure the bottom of the dovetail is flat against
the dovetail holder. Firmly tighten the hand bolt to
secure the clamp.

The finderscope has a clear plastic tab that insulates
the battery, preventing it from discharging during
shipment. Pull this tab out of the finderscope to
allow it to function correctly.
Squeeze the tabs on both sides of the battery
compartment cover while lifting upward. Install 8 AA
batteries into the battery holders. Be sure to install
the batteries in their correct polarity, matching the
+ and - terminals as shown on the battery holders.
Snap the battery cover back in place.
Plug the 6-pin connector of the hand control into
“HC” port on the side of the mount. Place the hand
control in the holster by inserting the narrow end into
the holder and sliding it downward.
Remove the lens cap from the front of the telescope
and turn on the power switch at the base of the
motorized fork.
To move the telescope, use the directional arrow
buttons to slew the scope in the desired direction.
When navigating the menu system, use the keypad
buttons labeled UP and DOWN (#6 and #9, not
the directional slew buttons) to scroll through menu
options. Press ENTER to make a selection or BACK
to return to the previous menu.

Locate the 90° star diagonal and remove the plastic
covers from both ends. Remove the plastic cap on the
eyepiece holder on the telescope. Insert the barrel of
the diagonal into eyepiece holder on the back of the
telescope and secure it by tightening the setscrews.
Insert the barrel of the 25mm eyepiece into the top
of the star diagonal and tighten the setscrew. Slide the finderscope bracket into the dovetail slot
on the telescope tube near the focuser. The large
window on the finder should be facing the front of
the telescope. Secure the bracket by tightening the
setscrew on the dovetail slot.

Your First Night
Out: The Moon
The best and easiest target for you to try to view
first is the Moon. Try observing the Moon at different
points in its phase cycle. The best time to view the
Moon is from two days after a New Moon up to a few
days before a Full Moon. During this period, you will
be able to see the most detail in the craters and lunar
mountain ranges.
Move the telescope so that it is roughly pointing
toward the Moon.

With the Moon visible in the sky, set up your
telescope as described above with the 25mm
eyepiece installed.
CENTER THE TARGET IN THE EYEPIECE
Look through the telescope using your lower
powered eyepiece. Move the telescope until the
object you chose lies in the center of the view. If the
image is blurry, gently turn the focus knob until it
comes into sharp focus. NOTE: The image in your
telescope may appear inverted. This is perfectly
normal in an astronomical telescope.
Aligning the
Finderscope
The finder is one of the most important parts of your
telescope. It helps you locate objects and center
them in the eyepiece. The first time you assemble
your telescope, you need to align the finder to the
telescope’s main optics. It’s best to do this during
the day*.
*SOLAR WARNING! Never attempt to view
the Sun through any telescope without a
proper solar filter!
CHOOSE A TARGET
Take the telescope outside during the day and find
an easily recognizable object, such as a streetlight,
car license plate or sign. The object should be as far
away as possible, but at least a quarter mile away.

ADJUST THE FINDERSCOPE
Without moving the telescope, use the two
adjustment knobs to move the finder around until
the red dot appears over the same object you are
observing in the telescope’s 25mm eyepiece.
LOOK THROUGH FINDERSCOPE
Once the object is centered in your 25mm eyepiece,
look through the finderscope and locate the red dot.

It should not require realignment unless it is bumped
or dropped.

You can view many other celestial objects, such as
planets, star clusters and nebulae using this same
technique if you know where to find them in the
night sky.

Celestron’s free SkyPortal app for iOS and Android
can help you locate and identify a wide array of
celestial objects quickly and easily.
Look through the telescope’s 25mm eyepiece.
Gently turn the focus knob to adjust the sharpness
of the image.
To get a closer view of the Moon, loosen the set
screws on the focuser and remove the 25mm
eyepiece. Replace it with your 9mm eyepiece and
tighten the set screws to secure it in place. The
9mm eyepiece will give you significantly more
magnification, making the Moon appear much larger.
NOTE: To make sure you are getting the sharpest
image possible, you may need to adjust the focus
knobs when you change eyepieces.

Normally, your hand control will display the last
entered time and location data. But since this is your
first time using the hand control, no information is
stored. Press BACK to begin entering these details.
Press ENTER to select City Database. Use the UP
and DOWN scroll buttons to choose the closest city to
your present location. Press ENTER after selecting the
country, state and city.
Use the scroll UP and DOWN scroll buttons
(located on #6 and #9) to select “SkyAlign.” Then
press ENTER. Next, you will enter the time and your
observing location.

Using the numeric key pad, enter the current
time. Press ENTER to continue. Press BACK to
backspace.
Now, using the UP and DOWN scroll buttons, verify
your time zone and press ENTER.
Using the numeric key pad, enter the date. Press
ENTER to continue. If you make a mistake, press
BACK to backspace.

Turn power switch (located on the side of the fork
arm) to the “ON” position. The light will illuminate and
the hand control will display “NexStar SLT.”
Press ENTER to begin the alignment procedure.
Your NexStar SLT’s computerized hand control
contains a database of thousands of celestial
objects. But before your telescope can accurately
point to these objects in the sky, you need to align
the database to known positions (stars) overhead.
Celestron’s SkyAlign procedure makes this process
quick and easy. To align with SkyAlign, follow the
steps below.

Repeat the process for the third alignment star. When
the telescope has been aligned to the final star, the
display will read “Match Confirmed”. Press BACK to
view the names of the three bright objects you aligned
to, or press ENTER to accept these three objects for
alignment.
Now that your telescope is properly aligned, you
are ready to find your first object. Press the SKY
TOUR button on the hand control. The hand control
will display a list of all the best celestial objects
currently visible.

For the second alignment object, choose a bright star
or planet as far away from the first alignment object
as possible. Once again, use the directional arrow
buttons to center the object in the finderscope and
press ENTER. Then, center the object in the eyepiece
and press ALIGN.
Press OBJECT INFO to read information about the
object displayed. Press the DOWN scroll button to
display the next object. Press ENTER to slew (move)
to the displayed object.

Use the directional arrow keys on the hand control
to slew (move) the telescope towards any bright
celestial object in the sky. Center the object in the
finderscope and press ENTER.
If the finderscope has been properly aligned, the
alignment star should now be visible in the field of
view of the eyepiece.
The hand control will prompt you to center the bright
alignment star in the center of the eyepiece. Once
centered, press ALIGN. This will accept the star as
your first alignment position.

Guide d’installation rapide
Centrez le trou du plateau à accessoires sur la
monture à baïonnette de l’entretoise du trépied. Faites
tourner le plateau à accessoires jusqu’à ce que les
trois onglets de verrouillage s’insèrent dans les clips
présents sur chaque section de l’entretoise centrale.
Enclenchez l’étui du contrôle à main, l’onglet carré
orienté vers le haut, sur le pied de votre choix.
Placez le bras à fourche motorisé sur le dessus de la
tête du trépied et serrez la grande molette imperdable
située entre les pieds du trépied pour la fixer.
Attachez le tube optique du télescope en positionnant
la queue d’aronde dans le rail situé sur le bras à
fourche. Veillez à ce que la queue d’aronde soit
correctement à plat dans le rail. Serrez fermement
l’écrou pour fixer solidement la pince.

Le chercheur comporte une languette de plastique
transparent, présente pour isoler la pile et éviter
qu’elle ne se décharge pendant le transport. Tirez
sur cette languette pour permettre au chercheur de
fonctionner correctement.
Pressez les deux onglets de chaque côté du cache
du compartiment à piles tout en le soulevant. Insérez
8 piles AA dans les logements du compartiment.
Assurez-vous d’insérer les piles en respectant le sens
des polarités en faisant correspondre les terminaux
+ et -, comme illustré dans les logements des piles.
Enclenchez le cache pour le remettre en place.
Branchez le connecteurs à 6 broches du contrôle à
main dans le port « HC », sur le côté de la monture.
Placez le contrôle à main dans l’étui, en plaçant la
section la plus étroite d’abord, puis en le glissant vers
le bas.
Retirez le cache de lentille de l’avant du télescope et
allumez la monture motorisée avec le bouton situé sur
sa base.
Pour déplacer le télescope, utilisez les boutons
fléchés pour orienter ce dernier dans la direction
désirée. Pour naviguer dans les options des menus du
système, utilisez les boutons marqués UP et DOWN
(HAUT et BAS) (#6 et #9, et non les boutons fléchés
d’orientation du télescope). Appuyez sur le bouton
ENTRER pour effectuer une sélection et BACK pour
revenir à la page de menu précédente.

Sortez le renvoi coudé à 90° de la boîte et retirez
les capuchons de plastique. Retirez le capuchon du
support d’oculaire du télescope. Insérez le barillet du
renvoi coudé dans le support d’oculaire sur l’arrière
du système de mise au point et fixez-le en serrant les
vis de fixation.
Insérez le barillet de l’oculaire de 25 mm dans le
dessus du système de mise au point et serrez la vis. Faites glisser le support du chercheur dans le
logement de queue d’aronde sur le tube du télescope,
à proximité du système de mise au point. La plus
grande fenêtre du chercheur doit être orientée vers
l’avant du télescope. Fixez le support en serrant la vis
de fixation sur le rail de queue d’aronde.

Aligner le chercheur
Le chercheur est l'un des composants les importants
de votre télescope. Il vous aide à localiser des objets
et à les centrer dans votre oculaire. La première fois
que vous assemblez votre télescope, vous devez
aligner le chercheur avec le système optique principal
du télescope. Il est plus facile d'effectuer cette
opération pendant la journée*.
* AVE RTISSEMENT SUR LE SOLEIL!
N’essayez jamais d’observer le soleil à
l’aide d’un télescope sans utiliser un filtre
solaire adéquat.
CENTRER LA CIBLE DANS L'OCULAIRE
Regardez dans le télescope en utilisant votre oculaire
basse puissance. Déplacez le télescope jusqu’à
que l’objet choisi se trouve au centre du champ de
vision. Si l’image est floue, faites doucement tourner
la molette de mise au point jusqu’à ce que l’image
soit nette.
NOTE : L’image observée dans votre télescope peut
apparaître inversée. Cela est parfaitement normal
pour un télescope astronomique.
CHOISIR UNE CIBLE
Installez le télescope à l’extérieur en journée, et
repérez un objet aisément reconnaissable, comme
un feu de signalisation, une plaque d’immatriculation
ou un panneau. L’objet doit se situer aussi loin que
possible, mais à au moins un quart de mile de vous.
Votre Premiére nuit
d’observation :
la Lune
La meilleure cible, qui est également la plus aisée
est la Lune. Essayez d’observer la Lune à différents
moments de ses phases. Le meilleur moment pour
observer la Lune est deux jours après la nouvelle
Lune et quelques jours avant la pleine Lune. Pendant
cette période, vous pourrez distinguer la plus grande
quantité de détails dans les cratères et les chaînes
de montagnes lunaires.
Déplacez le télescope de manière qu’il pointe plus
ou moins vers la Lune.
Lorsque la Lune est visible dans le ciel, installez votre
télescope comme décrit ci-dessus, avec l’oculaire
de 25 mm installé.

AJUSTER LE CHERCHEUR
Sans déplacer le télescope, utilisez les deux molettes
de réglage pour orienter le chercheur, jusqu’à ce que
point rouge apparaisse en superposition avec l’objet
observé dans l’oculaire de 25 mm.

Regardez dans l’oculaire de 25 mm dans le
télescope. Faites tourner doucement la molette de
mise au point pour ajuster le netteté de l’image.
Pour obtenir une meilleure vue de la Lune, desserrez
les vis de fixation du système de mise au point et
retirez l’oculaire de 25 mm. Remplacez-le par
l’oculaire de 9 mm et serrez les vis de fixation pour le
maintenir en place. L’oculaire de 9 mm permettra un
grossissement notablement plus important, faisant
apparaître la Lune en bien plus grand.
NOTE : Pour vous assurer d’obtenir l’image la plus
nette possible, il se peut que vous deviez régler
les molette de mise au point après avoir changé
d’oculaire.

les dernières données d’heure et de position saisies.
Cependant, si c’est la première utilisation de votre
contrôle à main, alors aucune informations n’y est
mémorisée. Appuyez sur le bouton BACK (RETOUR)
pour commencer la saisie de ces détails.
Appuyez sur le bouton ENTER (ENTRER) pour
sélectionner la base de données Villes. Appuyez sur
les boutons de défilement UP (HAUT) et DOWN
(BAS) pour sélectionner la ville la plus proche de
vous. Appuyez sur le bouton ENTER (ENTRER) après
avoir sélectionné votre pays, état et ville.
Appuyez sur les boutons de défilement UP (HAUT)
et DOWN (BAS) (sur les boutons #6 et #9) pour
sélectionner « SkyAlign ». Appuyez ensuite sur le

Le contrôle à main électronique NexStar de votre SLT
contient une base de données composée de milliers
d’objets célestes. Mais avant que votre télescope
puisse pointer avec précision vers ces objets dans le
ciel, vous devez aligner la base de données sur des
positions connues (des étoiles) au dessus de vous. La
procédure SkyAlign de Celestron rend ce processus
simple et rapide. Pour aligner avec Sky Align, suivez
les étapes ci-dessous.

Répétez le processus pour la troisième étoile

objets pour l’alignement.
Maintenant que votre télescope est correctement
aligné, vous êtes prêt à trouver votre premier objet.
Appuyez sur le bouton SKY TOUR sur votre contrôle
à main. Le contrôle à main affichera une liste des
meilleurs objets célestes actuellement visibles.
Pour le second objet d’alignement, choisissez une
étoile brillante ou une planète aussi éloignée que
possible du premier objet d’alignement. Encore une
fois, utilisez les boutons de direction pour centrer
l’objet dans le chercheur et appuyez sur le bouton

Appuyez sur le bouton OBJECT INFO (INFOS
D’OBJET) pour lire les informations concernant l’objet
affiché. Appuyez sur le bouton de défilement DOWN
(BAS) pour afficher l’objet suivant. Appuyez sur le
bouton ENTER (ENTRER) pour orienter (déplacer)
automatiquement le télescope sur l’objet affiché.
Utilisez les flèches de direction sur le contrôle à main
pour orienter (déplacer) le télescope vers un objet
céleste brillant. Centrez l'objet dans le chercheur et
appuyez sur le bouton ENTER (ENTRER).
Si le chercheur a été correctement aligné, alors
l’étoile d’alignement sera maintenant visible dans le
champ de vision de l’oculaire.
Le contrôle à main vous demandera de centrer l’étoile
d’alignement lumineuse au centre de l’oculaire. Une
fois centré, appuyez sur le bouton ALIGN (ALIGNER).
Ceci enregistre l'étoile en tant que première position
d'alignement.

Das Sucherfernrohr hat eine durchsichtige

Nehmen Sie den 90°-Zenitspiegel und entfernen
Sie die Kunststoffabdeckungen an beiden Enden.
Entfernen Sie die Plastikkappe vom Okularhalter
am Teleskop. Setzen Sie die Steckhülse des
Zenitspiegel in den Okularhalter auf der Rückseite
des Teleskops ein und befestigen Sie ihn, indem Sie
die Stellschrauben festziehen.
Stecken Sie die Steckhülse des 25-mm-Okulars in
die Oberseite des Zenitspiegels und ziehen Sie die
Stellschraube fest.
Schieben Sie die Sucherfernrohrhalterung in den
Schwalbenschwanzschlitz am Teleskoptubus in
der Nähe des Fokussierers. Das große Fenster am
Sucherfernrohr muss zur Vorderseite des Teleskops
zeigen. Befestigen Sie die Halterung, indem Sie
die Stellschraube am Schwalbenschwanzschlitz
festziehen.

ZENTRIEREN SIE DAS ZIEL IM OKULAR
Schauen Sie mit Ihrem Okular bei niedrigerer
Vergrößerungsleistung durch das Teleskop.
Schwenken Sie das Teleskop, bis das ausgewählte
Objekt im Zentrum des Sichtfelds liegt. Ist
das Bild unscharf, drehen Sie langsam an
dem Fokussierknopf, bis das Bild scharf wird.
HINWEIS: Das Bild in Ihrem Teleskop erscheint
möglicherweise invertiert. Das ist für ein Astronomie-
Teleskop völlig normal.
WÄHLEN SIE EIN ZIEL
Nehmen Sie das Teleskop tagsüber mit nach draußen
und suchen Sie ein leicht erkennbares Objekt wie
z.B. eine Straßenlaterne, ein Kfz-Kennzeichen oder
ein Schild. Das Objekt sollte so weit wie möglich,
aber mindestens 400 Meter entfernt sein.
Ausrichten des
Sucherfernrohrs
Das Sucherfernrohr ist eines der wichtigsten Teile
Ihres Teleskops. Es hilft Ihnen, Objekte zu suchen
und im Okular zu zentrieren. Wenn Sie Ihr Teleskop
zum ersten Mal zusammenbauen, müssen Sie das
Sucherfernrohr auf die Hauptoptik des Teleskops
ausrichten. Dies tun Sie am besten tagsüber*.

Ihre erste Nacht in
Freien: der Mond
Das beste und einfachste Ziel, das Sie zuerst
beobachten können, ist der Mond. Versuchen Sie,
den Mond an verschiedenen Punkten in seinem
Phasenzyklus zu beobachten. Die beste Zeit, um den
Mond zu beobachten, ist zwei Tage nach Neumond
bis ein paar Tage vor Vollmond. Innerhalb dieses
Zeitfensters zeigen sich Krater und Mondgebirge am
detailreichsten.
Schwenken Sie das Teleskop so, dass es ungefähr
auf den Mond zeigt.
Sobald Sie eine freie Sicht auf den Mond haben,
bauen Sie Ihr Teleskop mit dem 25-mm-Okular wie
oben beschrieben auf.

STELLEN SIE DAS SUCHERFERNROHR EIN
Ohne das Teleskop zu bewegen, drehen Sie nun an
den zwei Einstellknöpfen um den Sucher zu bewegen
bis der rote Punkt über dem gleichen Objekt erscheint,
das Sie im 25-mm-Okular des Teleskops beobachten.

schauen Sie durch das Sucherfernrohr und suchen
Sie den roten Punkt.
