PRODUCT FEATURES
The Rugiada sensor is made up of two distinct units: a sensor element, capable of
detecting the presence of water on its surface and a processor board, inside of a plastic
case. The processor board is capable of remotely transmitting an alarm status to the
motor (or the receiving control unit), which will open or close the awning depending on
how the motor or the control unit has been set. Use the remote control to manually open
or close the awning again.
*Note: the Rugiada sensor is compatible only with the indicated motors and control units,
manufactured beginning 01/2014.

COMMAND SEQUENCES EXAMPLE
Most of the command sequences have three distinct steps, at the end of which the motor
indicates if the step has been concluded positively or not, by turning in different ways. This
section is provided to demonstrate the motor indications. The buttons must be pressed as
shown in the sequence, without taking more than 4 seconds between one step and the
next. If more than 4 seconds are taken, the command is not accepted and the sequence
must be repeated.
Command sequence example:
As we can see from the example, when the sequence ends positively, the motor returns
to its starting position in one long rotation. In fact, two short rotations in the same
direction correspond to one long rotation in the opposite direction. The motor returns to
the starting position even when the sequence is not completed; in this case by performing
one or two short rotations.

INSTALLATION
The Rugiada sensor is provided with an IP44 plastic case in which the electronic radio
card is mounted. The case has wiring connecting it to the sensor unit and its power
supply. The following instructions must be complied with for proper installation of the
unit.
- The Rugiada sensor must be permanently connected to 230 V AC mains power. It has no
cut off switch. Therefore, the installer must provide for a cut off switch when installing
the system. A two-pole switch is required, with protection against accidental closing.
- Secure wiring attachment must be ensured by assembling cable clamps provided inside
the product.
- Handle the Rugiada sensor with care during installation. Make sure that its component
parts have been assembled properly. Pay particular attention to the sensor element and
its connection wiring. When reclosing the plastic case, pay particular attention to the
positioning of the wires.
- Attach the units to the wall using the screws and anchor plugs provided together with
the product.
- It is very important to establish the precise location of the Rugiada sensor components
so that the sensor element will be exposed to precipitation at a slope of about 45
degrees to avoid any pooling of water on it.
- Do not paint over the sensitive surface of the rain sensor.
- All operations that require opening the plastic case (installation, programming, repair,
etc.) must only be carried out by expert personnel.
- Install the plastic case with the processor board near the motor or the receiving control
unit, to reduce the distance travelled by the radio signal.

SETTING THE RUGIADA SENSOR
OPERATION
To associate the sensor to a motor, a remote control must be already memorised on the
motor. The setting sequence is the following:
Tn: already programmed remote control
In case of precipitation, the Rugiada sensor sends an alarm signal to the motor. Cherubini
receivers are set at the factory to respond to an alarm signal with a closing command. To
change this setting proceed as follows:
Note: to check proper
memorisation, press the SET
button briey again: the awning
should move about half way
through its path. When the check
is completed, open the awning
once again.
TnTn 2 sec
SET
BEFORE COMMISSIONING
- Power up the Rugiada sensor.
- Open the awning completely and perform the memorisation procedure below.

MAINTENANCE
The Rugiada sensor needs no particular maintenance. However any dust or residue that
collects on its surface will limit its sensitivity. Therefore, it is suggested that it be cleaned
off once or twice a year with a damp cloth. Make sure to have disconnected the power
source prior to cleaning, otherwise contact with the sensor could engage the opening
and closing of the awning by triggering an alarm, possibly causing harm to the person
involved or others.
18
DELETING THE RUGIADA SENSOR
To delete the sensor from the motor, an already programmed remote control must be
used. The deleting sequence is the following:
2 sec
SET
TESTS AND OPERATION
Once the the Rugiada sensor has been activated the sensor element is ready to detect any
alarm conditions. Pressing the SET button, the unit will operate in “test” mode for the next
3 minutes, or in case of alarm, the awning will close or open and, once it has completed
that action, it will be possible to immediately trigger another alarm. It is even possible to
activate the sensor by simply placing your hand on top of the sensor element.
WHAT TO DO IF....
Symptom Cause Remedy
Failure to open or
close the awning in
case of rain.
Sensor has no power. Check the power cable for the
sensor.
Presence of residue on the
sensor element.
Clean the surface the sensor
element with a damp cloth after
disconnecting the power.
*Note: the Rugiada sensor is compatible only with the indicated
motors and control units, manufactured beginning 01/2014.

NOTES FOR THE USER
- This unit should not be used by children or persons with reduced psycho-physical
capacity unless supervised or instructed by an adult on its use and operation.
- Inspect the system regularly for any signs of damage or wear. Do not use the unit if it
is in need of repair.
- ATTENTION: keep this instruction manual and comply with all important safety
regulations herein. Failure to comply with these regulations could cause harm and
serious accidents.
- The best position for the unit is at a 45 degree angle to avoid any pooling of water on
its surface.
