beindividuallypackaged.Ifyoudonotreceiveacompletedelivery,pleasecontactyour
authorizedChiefRiderProviderimmediately.Wheredamagehasoccurredduringtransport,
eithertothepackagingorcontent,pleasecontactthedeliverycompanyresponsible.
Yourmobilityscooterisshippedpartiallydisassembledforprotectionduringshipping.After

Thetillerhousesallofthecontrolsneededtodriveyourscooter.IncludingtheBattery
conditionLEDindicators,Speedadjustmentdial,StatusLEDindicators,DirectionLED
indicators,Turnsignalswitch,Hornbuttons,Head-lightswitch,Hazardlightsswitch,Key
switch,High-lowspeedswitch,Pushswitch,Acceleratethrottlecontrollever,andOff-board

PROHIBITED!Donotexposethetillerconsoletomoisture.Intheeventthat
thetillerconsoledoesbecomeexposedtomoisture,donotattemptto
operateyourscooteruntilthetillerconsolehasdriedthoroughly.

FourLEDshowthedirectionyourscooterisheadingin.Fromlefttorightare:Leftturn

TurnSignalSwitch
Usethesebuttonstoturnontheleftandrightturnsignallights.

Thisswitchtogglesthescooter sspeedbetweenHighspeedandLowspeed.
►Toggletheswitchup-wardandyourscooter smaximumspeedis6mph(9.6km/h).
►Toggletheswitchdown-wardandyourscooter smaximumspeedis3.6mph(5.7km/h).
PushSwitch
Thisswitchwilldisengagetheparkbreakandactivethefreewheelmode(Figure9)allowing
yourscootertobepushed.
►Toggletheswitchup-wardtoreleasetheparkbreak.
►Toggletheswitchdown-wardandtheparkbreakengagedautomatically.
AccelerateThrottleControlLever
Thisleverallowsyoutocontroltheforwardspeedandthereversespeedofyourscooterup
tothemaximumspeedyoupresetwiththespeedadjustmentdial.
ToMoveForward,useeitherofthefollowing:
►Useyourleftthumbtopushtheleftsideofthethrottlecontrollever.
►Useyourrighthandfingerstopullbackontherightsideofthethrottlecontrollever.
ToMoveBackward,useeitherofthefollowing:
►Useyourrightthumbtopushtherightsideofthethrottlecontrollever.
►Useyourlefthandfingerstopullbackontheleftsideofthethrottlecontrollever.
Releasethethrottlecontrolleverandallowyourscootertocometoacompletestopbefore
engagingtheothersideofthelever.Whenthethrottlecontrolleveriscompletelyreleased,
itautomaticallyreturnstothecenter “stop”positionandengagesyourscooter sbrakes.
Off-boardChargerPort
Theoff-boardchargerpowercordplugsintothisportduringbatterycharging.
Turnoffthekey-switchwhencharging.
NOTE:Keepallelectricalareascleanandfreeofmoistureandforeignmaterial.

REARSECTION
TheManualfreewheellever,reflector,breaklights,trans-axle,anti-tipwheelandthe
batteriesarelocatedontherearsectionofyourscooter(Figure9).
Freewheellever
Wheneveryouneedorwanttopushyourscooterforshortdistances,especially
whenthescooteriselectricallydead,youcanputitinfreewheelmode.
1.Removethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Pushforwardonthemanualfreewheellevertodisablethedrivesystemandthe
brakesystem.Thiswillenableyoutopushthescooter.
3.Pullbackonthemanualfreewheellevertoreengagethedriveandthebrake
systemsandtakeyourscooteroutoffreewheelmode.
►Disengagethedrivemotorsonlyonalevelsurface.
►Ensurethekeyisremovedfromthekeyswitch.
►Standtothesideofthescootertoengageordisengagefreewheelmode.Never
sitonascootertodothis.
►Afteryouhavefinishedpushingyourscooter,alwaysreturnittothedrivemode
tolockthebrakes.
WARNING! Whenyourscooterisinfreewheelmode,thebrakingsystemisdisengaged.
NOTE:Ifthescooterisplacedinfreewheelmode(manualfreewheelleverforward)whilethekeyis
inthe “on”position,thescooterwillnotrununtilthemanualfreewheelleverispushedbackward
andthekeyisturnedtothe “off”position,thenbacktothe “on”position.

BEFOREGETTINGONTOYOURSCOOTER
►Haveyoufullychargedthebatteries?See ‘V.BatteriesandCharging’.
►Isthemanualfreewheelleverandthepushswitchinthedriveposition?Neverleavethe
manualfreewheelleverpushedforwardunlessyouaremanuallypushingyourscooter.
GETTINGONTOYOURSCOOTER
1.Makecertainthatthekeyisremovedfromthekeyswitch.
WARNING!Neverattempttogetontooroffofyourscooterwithoutfirst
removingthekeyfromthekeyswitch.Thiswillpreventthescooterfrom
movingifaccidentalthumbthrottlecontactismade.
2.Standatthesideofyourscooter.
3.Disengagetheseatrotationleverandrotatetheseatuntilitisfacingyou(Figure6.a,6.b).
4.Makecertainthattheseatisfixedsecurelyinposition.
5.Positionyourselfcomfortablyandsecurelyintheseat.
6.Disengagetheseatrotationleverandrotatetheseatuntilyouarefacingforward.
7.Makecertainthattheseatisfixedsecurelyinposition.
8.Makecertainthatyourfeetaresafelyonthefloorboard.

►Theelectromechanicaldiscparkbrakeautomaticallydisengagesandthescooter
acceleratessmoothlytothespeedyoupreselectedwiththespeedadjustmentdial.
►Pullonthelefthandgriptosteeryourscootertotheleft.
►Pullontherighthandgriptosteeryourscootertotheright.
►Movethetillertothecenterpositiontodrivestraightahead.
►Tostop,slowlyreleasethethumbthrottle.Theelectronicbrakeswillautomatically
engage,bringingyourscootertoastop.
NOTE:Yourscooter’sreversespeedisslowerthanthatoftheforwardspeedyoupresetwiththe
speedadjustmentdial.
GETTINGOFFOFYOURSCOOTER
1.Bringyourscootertoacompletestop.
2.Powerdownyourscooterandremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
3.Disengagetheseatrotationleverandrotatetheseatuntilyouarefacingtowardtheside
ofyourscooter.
4.Makecertainthattheseatisfixedsecurelyinposition.
5.Carefullyandsafelygetoutoftheseatandstandtothesideofyourscooter.
6.Youcanleavetheseatfacingtothesidetofacilitateboardingyourscooternexttime.
POWERDOWNTIMERFEATURE
Yourscooterisequippedwithanenergysavingautomaticpowerdowntimerfeature
designedtopreserveyourscooter sbatterylife.Ifyoumistakenlyleavethekeyinthekey
switchandinthe on”positionbutdonotuseyourscooterforapproximately30minutes,
thescooter’scontrollershutsdownautomatically.
Althoughthecontrollerisshutdown,powerwillstillbesuppliedtothescooter slighting
system.
Ifthepowerdowntimerfeaturetakeseffect,performthefollowingstepstoresumenormal
operation:
1.Removethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Reinsertthekeyandpowerupyourscooter.

MANDATORY!Donotoperateyournewscooterforthefirsttimewithout
completelyreadingandunderstandingthisowner’smanual.
Yourscooterisastate-of-the-artlife-enhancementdevicedesignedtoincreasemobility.
ChiefRiderprovidesanextensivevarietyofproductstobestfittheindividualneedsofthe
scooteruser.Pleasebeawarethatthefinalselectionandpurchasingdecisionregarding
thetypeofscootertobeusedistheresponsibilityofthescooteruser,whoiscapableof
makingsuchadecision,andhis/herhealthcareprofessional(i.e.,medicaldoctor,physical
therapist,etc.).
Thecontentsofthismanualarebasedontheexpectationthatamobilitydeviceexperthas
properlyfittedthescootertotheuserandhasassistedtheprescribinghealthcare
professionaland/ortheauthorizedChiefRiderProviderintheinstructionprocessfortheuse
oftheproduct.
Therearecertainsituations,includingsomemedicalconditions,wherethescooteruserwill
needtopracticeoperatingthescooterinthepresenceofatrainedattendant.Atrained
attendantcanbedefinedasafamilymemberorcareprofessionalspeciallytrainedin
assistingascooteruserinvariousdailylivingActivities.
Asyoubeginusingyourscooterduringdailyactivities,youwillprobablyencounter
situationsinwhichyouwillneedsomepractice.Simplytakeyourtimeandyouwillsoonbe
infullandconfidentcontrolasyoumaneuverthroughdoorways,onandoffelevators,up
anddownramps,andovermoderateterrain.Belowaresomeprecautions,tips,andother
safetyconsiderationsthatwillhelpyoubecomeaccustomedtooperatingthescootersafely.
MODIFICATIONS
ChiefRiderhasdesignedandengineeredyourscootertoprovidemaximummobilityand
utility.AwiderangeofaccessoriesisavailablefromChiefRidertofurthercustomizeyour
scootertobettersuityourneedsand/orpreferences.However,undernocircumstances
shouldyoumodify,add,remove,ordisableanyfeature,part,orfunctionofyourscooter.
WARNING!Donotmodifyyourscooterinanywaynotauthorizedby
ChiefRider.Donotuseaccessoriesiftheyhavenotbeentestedorapproved
forChiefRiderproducts.

PRE-RIDESAFETYCHECK
Gettoknowthefeelofyourscooteranditscapabilities.ChiefRiderrecommendsthatyou
performasafetycheckbeforeeachusetomakesureyourscooteroperatessmoothlyand
safely.
Performthefollowinginspectionspriortousingyourscooter:
►Checkforpropertireinflation.Maintainbutdonotexceedthepsi/bar/kPaairpressure
ratingindicatedoneachtireifequippedwithpneumatictires.
►Checkallelectricalconnections.Makesuretheyaretightandnotcorroded.
►Checkallharnessconnections.Makesuretheyaresecuredproperly.
►Checkthebrakes.
►Checkbatterycharge.
Ifyoudiscoveraproblem,contactyourauthorizedChiefRiderProviderforassistance.
TIREINFLATION
Ifyourscooterisequippedwithpneumatictires,youshouldcheckorhavetheairpressure
checkedatleastonceaweek.Properinflationpressureswillprolongthelifeofyourtires
andhelpensurethesmoothoperationofyourscooter.
WARNING!Itiscriticallyimportantthatthepsi/bar/kPaairpressurerating
indicatedonthetirebemaintainedinpneumatictiresatalltimes.Donot
underinflateoroverinflateyourtires.Lowpressuremayresultinlossof
control,andoverinflatedtiresmayburst.Failuretomaintainthepsi/bar/kPa
airpressureratingindicatedonthepneumatictiresatalltimesmayresult
intireand/orwheelfailure.
WARNING!Inflateyourscootertiresfromaregulatedairsourcewithan
availablepressuregauge.Inflatingyourtiresfromanunregulatedair
sourcecouldoverinflatethem,resultinginabursttire.
NOTE:Ifthetireonyourscooterliststhepsiratingonly,usethefollowingconversionformulas
tofindthebarorkParating:bar=psi 0.06895;kPa=psi 6.89476.
WEIGHTLIMITATIONS
Yourscooterisratedforamaximumweightcapacity.Refertothespecificationstablefor
information.
Keepinmindthatthemaximumweightcapacityincludesthecombinedweightoftheuser
andanyaccessoriesmountedtothescooter.
MANDATORY!Staywithinthespecifiedweightcapacityforyourscooter.
Exceedingtheweightcapacityvoidsyourwarranty.ChiefRiderwillnotbe
heldresponsibleforinjuriesand/orpropertydamageresultingfromfailure

►Proceedwithextremecautionasyouapproachthedowngradeofaramporotherincline.
►Takewideswingswithyourscooteraroundanytightcorners.Ifyoudothat,thescooter s
rearwheelswillfollowawidearc,notcutthecornershort,andnotbumpintoorgethungup
onanyrailingcorners.
►Whendrivingdownaramp,keepthescooter sspeedadjustmentsettotheslowest
speedsettingtoensureasafelycontrolleddescent.
►Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts.
Whenclimbinganincline,trytokeepyourscootermoving.Ifyoumuststop,startupagain
slowly,andthenacceleratecautiously.Whendrivingdownanincline,dosobypressthe
throttleleverlightlyanddrivingintheforwarddirectiononly.Ifyourscooterstartstomove
downtheinclinefasterthanyouanticipatedordesired,allowittocometoacompletestop
byreleasingthe throttlelever.Thenpushthe throttleleverslightlytoensureasafely
controlleddescent.
WARNING!Whenonanysortofaninclineordecline,neverplacethe
scooterinfreewheelmode,especiallywhenseatedonitorstandingnextto
it.
WARNING!Whenclimbinganincline,donotzigzagordriveatanangleup
thefaceoftheincline.Driveyourscooterstraightuptheincline.This
greatlyreducesthepossibilityofatiporafall.Alwaysexerciseextreme
cautionwhennegotiatinganincline.
WARNING!Donotdriveyourscooteracrossthesideofaninclineor
diagonallyupordownanincline;donotstop,ifpossible,whiledrivingup
ordownanincline.
