EGT CONTROLLER SET UP GUIDE
To program the EGT Controller “ON/OFF” trigger points. If you make a mistake, switch off
the ignition and start again. Do not change any values OTHER THAN “AH1” and “AL1”.
Failure to do this will require the unit to be sent to Chip It for reprogramming at your cost.
Power on the Controller and press “SET”. The display will show “0000”
Use the RIGHT ARROW BUTTON “>” on Controller to scroll across until the last ZERO on the right hand side
flashes.
When the last ZERO is flashing use the “” UP arrow to change the last 0to a 1. IE “0001”.
When you have “0001”. Displayed, press “SET”. The screen will now display “AH1”. This setting is the
“ON” trigger point.
Press “SET” (the factory pre-set value of circa 650 DEG Cel. will be shown)
This value is changed using UP/DOWN arrows. Increase or decrease the numbers to correspond to what is
required for your vehicle specs.
From the MAX Factory Tune Temps you have realised, you should only add 10%.
This will be your new MAX Exhaust Gas Temp. When the engine’s EGTs reach this
figure (with the EGT loom connected to the Chip It Power Module) the EGT
Controller will de-tune the Chip It Module and run the factory standard tune. This
will allow your engine to be driven hard at factory power levels without fear of
rising EGTs overheating / damaging your engine.
After you have the required numbers on the display, press “SET” (The “ON” trigger point has now been set)
Next is programming of the “OFF” trigger point:
On the screen you should still see AH1. Press the right pointing arrow “>” repeatedly until you see “AL1”.
This setting is the “OFF” trigger point. If you do not, Switch off the ignition to start again.
Press “SET”. The pre-set values will be shown (i.e. 500)
Press the RIGHT ARROW “>” until the digit you wish to change starts flashing.
Press the UP/DOWN ARROW “” to select a new “OFF” point.
Press “SET” to confirm.
Now scroll with RIGHT ARROW “>” until screen value reads “END”
PRESS “SET”. Your EGT Controller will now de-tune the Chip It Module at the settings you programmed into
the EGT Controller and re-set the performance tune once the lower figure set at AL1 is reached.
NB: ALARM LIGHT WILL GLOW WHEN HIGH VALUE HAS BEEN REACHED. AT THIS POINT, WHERE CONNECTED
TO THE CHIP IT MODULE, THE UNIT IS DE-TUNED TO THE FACTORY TUNE.
EGT’S SHOULD BE SEEN TO REDUCE AT THIS TIME. IF THEY ARE NOT REDUCING, CHECK THE CONNECTION TO
THE CHIP IT POWER MODULE.
