1. Welcome to Custom Integration Solutions™
Thank you for purchasing CIS devices. Our solutions make it easy for integrators to deploy networks in home and business set-
tings with minimal conguration. Our support team can provide assistance in setting up the equipment and answering your
questions.
3. Overview
The small but powerful CIS-WAP wireless access point is perfect for all your mobile devices.
• The CIS-WAP provides 2.4 GHz connectivity at speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s, and supports 802.11b/g/n.
• CIS Access points are weatherproof, and can be xed to any external wall or ceiling from the inside of the case. The
bottom door can also be secured with a special security screw, which can only be opened by integrators.
• The 360° coverage pattern makes the CIS-WAP ideal for business and residential applications.
• It is possible to run the ethernet cable through the back of the case to keep it hidden when mounting the access point.
Power
The CIS-WAP can be powered by the included 24V DC Adapter, or via PoE. The device accepts 12-57V passive, or 802.3af/at PoE if
using unshielded ethernet cable.
Maximum power consumption at 24V is 4W.

LED indicators
• PWR—lit when the device is powered on.
• AP/CAP—Off when operating in standalone mode. Lights up when controlled
by Wireless Manager on a CIS router.
• 2 GHz—ashes when wireless activity is detected.
• ETH—ashes when activity is detected on the ethernet port.
Ports
• 1 10/100 ethernet port. Accepts passive PoE or 802.3af/at power.
• 1 Power jack. Accepts 12—57V DC
Buttons
Reset button: Hold this button during boot until the LED light starts ashing, (5 seconds) then release the button to reset to
the default CIS conguration. You can use this procedure if you have forgotten the password to access the device, or simply
wish to return the unit to its default conguration state.
4. Mounting Options
The CIS-WAP can be securely mounted on a wall, ceiling, or attached to a pole with the included cable ties.
1. Use the template (included in the box) to mark the location of the screw holes.
2. If mounting to a wall, plug the holes with the included plastic anchors. If mounting to a ceiling, you may place the
included steel plate on the other side of the surface for reinforcement.
3. Use the included screws to attach the mounting plate to the plugs (wall mount) or steel bracket (ceiling mount).
4. Pull the Ethernet cable through the breakaway tab into the CIS-WAP enclosure.
5. Attach the CIS-WAP to the mounting bracket.
6. Close the cover and lock the enclosure.

5. Accessing the Web Interface
1. Connect your laptop to the router.
2. Obtain the IP address of the access point by checking the leases provided by the DHCP server on the router.
3. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the access point in the address bar.
4. To login, enter the username cis and password integration.
5. Integrators may use the Get TeamViewer link if remote assistance is required.

The Status Page
The status page provides basic diagnostic information. There is a CIS Support Address should you require assistance. The Iden-
tity will show you which device you are accessing on your network. It will be displayed in the tab of your browser. You can
view the IP addresses, uptime, memory usage and load on the CPU.

The Undo and Redo Buttons
Undo and Redo buttons are located in the left toolbar. You may use them to quickly undo/redo any changes made to congu-
ration.
Show/Hide Passwords
Selecting the Hide Passwords button in the left toolbar will reveal or hide passwords related to Wi-Fi, Hotspot, and more.
Set the System Identity
The system identity is used to identify your device on the network. It is essential to have the identity of the access points set
to their locations for troubleshooting purposes.
The Identity setting can be found in the System tab in the left toolbar.

Rebooting the Device
If you are having issues with the access point and suspect a reboot will help, the Reboot option can be found under the Sys-
tem tab in the left toolbar. Clicking reboot will ask for conrmation before proceeding.
Setting the Clock
You can nd the Clock settings under the System tab in the left toolbar. Ensure the time zone is set correctly.
Changing the Default Password
The default username is cis and the password is integration. After you log in for the rst time, please create a new a password
to increase the security of the device.

6. Setting the IP Address
CIS recommends creating a DHCP reservation for access points, and other network infrastructure devices. Follow the instruc-
tions in the manual for your router to set a reservation.
Renewing the DHCP lease
To renew the DHCP lease for the access point, click on the entry containing the current IP address in the DHCP client tab.
Click the Renew button to obtain the new IP address from the DHCP server.

Setting a Static IP Address
To set a static IP, select the Addresses tab under IP in the toolbar on the left. Select the disabled interface.
It is highly recommended you perform an IP Scan (see the IP Scan tool) before assigning a static IP address. The IP address
you assign must be unused, and outside of the range of the DHCP pool. Check the Enabled box. You can only use IP addresses
in the 172.16.1.0/24, 10.100.1.0/24, 192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.0.0/24 ranges! If you require a different network address, please
contact CIS for assistance.
You must disable the DHCP client once the static address is set.

7. Conguring Access Points in Standalone Mode
CIS access points can operate as standalone units, or be managed through the Wireless Manager on CIS Routers. This section
includes instructions for setting up access points in standalone mode.
Setting the SSID for Standalone Access Points
Select the Wireless tab from the left toolbar. You can view the networks under the WiFi Interfaces tab. Click on the wlan1-
2.4GHz network to modify the main network.
Enter the name of the network in the SSID box.

Setting the WiFi Password for Standalone Access Points
Select the Security Proles tab in the Wireless section. Click on the default network to change the password and security.
Enter the password in the WPA Pre-Shared Key box, then copy-and-paste it into the WPA2 Pre-Shared Key box. Remember,
you can use the Show/Hide Passwords button in the left toolbar if needed.

To change the guest password, select the Security Proles tab and select the Guest Security prole. The steps to changing the
password are the same as for the main network.
Setting up the Guest Network for Standalone Access Points
CIS access points running in standalone mode can run a simple guest network. To enable, click the E button in the WiFi Inter-
faces tab of the Wireless section.
Devices in the guest network will receive their own IP addresses, and will be isolated from clients on the main network. You
can change the SSID by clicking on the Virtual network.

View Connected Devices
In the Wireless section, click the Registration tab to view the connected devices. You can identify them based on their MAC
address. You can view uptime, signal strength, and transmit (tx) and receive (rx) rates.
Blocking Connections with the Wireless Access List
The access list is used to restrict connections from other devices, and control connection parameters. Use this to block devices
from connecting based on their MAC addresses.
You can copy a device to the access list by selecting it from the Registration tab, then clicking the Copy to Access List button

You can now change the following settings:
• MAC Address-specify the MAC address of the device this rule will apply to.
• Interface—which interface the rule applies to. It is recommended to choose the main network, guest, network, or all.
• Signal Strength Range—How strong the signal must be before this access list rule takes effect.
• Allow Signal Out Of Range—How long the device can be out of the signal range before its connection is dropped.
• Authentication—Disabling authentication will block the device from connecting to the access point.
• Forwarding—Controls whether the device can transmit to other devices connected to the same network.
• Comment—It is highly recommended you describe the device the rule will apply to with a comment. This will make
troubleshooting much easier. You might also want to specify what the rule will accomplish.
The device is now present in the access list. Click on it for more options.

The rules are applied from top to bottom similar to a rewall. Take a look at the default rules, for example. The top rule speci-
es if the device has a signal strength of –80 or better, it is allowed to connect (authenticate), and forward to other devices on
the network. The bottom rule species if it drops below –80, it will not be allowed to connect to the network.
Setting up the Access Point as a Repeater
In the Wireless section, select the WiFi Interfaces tab. Click on Setup Repeater.
Type the name of the SSID and Passphrase of the wireless network you’d like to extend the range of. Click Start.

The device will display the message —- managed by CAPsMAN. You can now administer this access point from the conguration
page of your CIS router.
Remember to make give your access point a static DHCP reservation. View “Setting the IP Address” for information on how to
renew the lease.
8. Managing Access points with the Wireless Manager
All CIS routers include a Wireless Manager that allows you to manage your access points from a single location. All changes to
the SSIDs, passwords and other options will be propagated to all of the access points on the network.
Enabling WiFi Manager on the Access Point
Select Wireless in the left toolbar. Under the WiFi Interfaces tab, select Wi-Fi Manager.
Check the Enabled box, click Apply, then OK.

Viewing the Connected Access Points
On your CIS router, select the Wi-Fi Manager section in the left toolbar. You can see a network appear in the Interface tab. If
you select the WiFi Access points tab, you’ll be able to view the identity, MAC address and other information of the individual
access points.

Changing the SSID of Managed Access Points
Select the SSID-Channel tab in the Wi-Fi Manager section. Click on the 2.4GHz network.
Enter the SSID you’d like to use in the SSID box. Click Apply then OK. Copy and paste the SSID into the SSID box for the 5 GHz
network so they match. This allows older devices to connect to the 2.4 GHz, and newer devices to connect to the 5 GHz network
using a single SSID. Remember, the CIS WAP only provides 2.4 GHz.

Changing the Wi-Fi Password of Managed Access Points
Select the Wi-Fi Password tab. Click on the network that you’d like to change the password for. If you’ve purchased a guest
network, it will appear here.
Enter the passphrase in the box below. It is highly recommended you select only WPA2 PSK for security reasons, as WPA is vul-
nerable to cracking.
