The Clarion EQS755 is a 7-band stereo equalizer/crossover specifically created
for
the
mobileenvironment. TheEQS755providespowerfulfeatures in a compactsize:
• Seven equalization bands(50Hz, 125Hz,315Hz,
750Hz,
2.2KHz, 6kHz, and
16kHz),
eachfrequencyadjustablefrom -12
to+
12dB(- 15
to+
15dBforsubwooferfrequencies).
• Subwooferoutputusesa built-in 18dB
per
octaveelectroniccrossoverfixed at
60Hz
or
90Hz.
•Threestereo
RCA
outputstodrivefront, rear, and subwooferaudioamplifiers.

Installation
of
mobile audio and video components requires experience with a variety
of
mechanical and electrical procedures.Although this manual provides general installation
and operation instructions, it does not
show
the exact installation methods for
your
particularvehicle.

OPERATIONS
Setting system volume
1.
Turnthe mastervolumeand subwooferlevel controlstotheirminimumsettings.
2. Turnthesourceuniton and increasethevolume untilyou heardistortion.
3. Reducethevolumeto
just
belowthedistortion point(approximately
80o/o
of
full
volume).
This is the maximum usable musical signal for the source unit. Turning the volume
beyondthispointincreases noiseanddistortionwithoutincreasing the musical signal.
Note
Onceyou
set
the source unitvolume, do
not
change
it.
Alwaysuse the volume controlon
the EQS755
as
the
master
(main) volume control. The EQS755has betterelectronics,
a
highersoundto noise ratio,
and
ismorelinearthan the volume settingson
any
source unit
available.
Adjusting the controls
The EQS755 provides a graphic adjustment band for each
of
seven frequency ranges:
sub, low, mid, mid-high and high frequency. You can adjust the center
of
each frequency
band tofine tune
the_
acoustical responseto
your
vehicle's interior.
1.
Set all frequencies to the center position. The small
dot
on the control knob should be
set
at
12o'clock.
2. Playyourfavorite musictrackand adjustthe individual controls to suityourtaste.Avoid
extremesettings, which can distortmusical peaks.
3.
Increase
or
decreasethe equalizergain controlstosuit
your
taste.
4.
If
yoursystem includes a subwoofer, slowly increasethesubwooferlevel until you hear
asolid bass.
S.lfyoursystem
includesrearspeakers,
adjustthefadercontrol
toadd rearsound.
Setit so most
of
the musiccomesfrom thefrontand onlyfills the rear.
Setting the low-pass frequency
Set the low pass frequency switch on the top
of
the EQS755 to either
60Hz
or
90Hz
dependingon the subwooferand subwooferamplifierrequirements.
Connecting an MP3 player or video unit
1.
Plug the MP3player
or
video unitintotheauxiliary
RCA
inputon the back
of
the
EQS755unit.
2.
Makesuretheauxiliarybutton onthefront
of
theunitisout, readytoreceive input
from the main
RCA
input(nottheauxiliary
RCA
input).
3.
Turn the EQS755mastervolumetoa normal listening level.
4. Presstheplaybutton on theauxiliarysource.
5.
Push in the
AUX
button tochangetothe auxiliarysource.
6. Using a smallflathead screwdriver, adjustthe
AUX
gaincontrols located on thetop
of
the unitsothatthevolume
of
theauxiliarysource matchesthevolume
of
the main
source.

backtothe main input, simplyreduce the mastervolumeandgentlyunplugthe
3.5mmcablefrom the EQS755.
Note: Unpluggingthe sourcedevice will
not
changeinputs. You
must
removethe
cablefrom the
EQS755
Care and maintenance
Cleaningthe
cabinet
Usea soft,
dry
cloth to gentlywipe dustanddirtfrom the unit.
Do not use benzene, thinner,
car
cleaner,
or
other cleaners. These substances
may
damagethe unit
or
causethepaintto peel.
Servicing
theequalizer/crossover
unit
In the eventthattrouble arises, neveropen the case
or
disassemblethe unit. The internal
partsarenotserviceable
by
the user. Openinganycomponentswill void thewarranty.
A CAUTION
Changes
or
modifications
to
this
product
that
are
not
approved
by
the
manufacturer
will
void
the
warranty
and
will
violateFCCapproval.

INSTALLATION AND WIRING
Read these instructionsandthefollowing precautionscarefully.
What is included in the

Before
starting
Mounting
precautions
The EQS755can be mounted nextto the source unitorunderthe dash using the
mounting brackets. Thefront panel controls should
be
easilyaccessiblefrom the
driver'sseat.
In
addition:
• This unitrequires additional mobile audio componentsforproperoperation.
• Always usegreatcare when attaching anything to avehicle! Checkclearances
in
front
of, behind, and on both sidesofthe planned installation before drilling anyholesor
installing anyscrews.
Wiring
precautions
Disconnectthe ground (-)terminal
on
the vehicle'sbattery.
A
WARNING
To
prevent
short
circuits
during
installation,
always
disconnect
the vehicle's
negative(-)
battery
lead
before
making
any
connections.
• This unitis exclusivelyforvehicleswith a negativeground, 12Vbatterysystem.
• Agood chassisground connection
is
critical to minimizeresistance and avoid noise
problems. Use the shortestwire possible and securelyconnect itto the carchassis and
the source unitground. ·
• When routing RCAcables, keep the cables awayfrom the powercables and output
speakerwires.
• Ifyou are using a source unitwithout a remote turn-on lead, the EQS755 can
be
turned
on
with aswitched accessorylead. This accessorypowersource is located
in
the
factory harnessatthe back
of
the radio. This leadturns on and offwith the ignition
key.
•
Do
notopen the case. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. If
you require
assistance, consultyourClarion dealeror
an
authorized Clarion service center.
Tools and additional
components
You
will need:
• APhillips-head screwdriverwhen mounting the unit
in
the vehicle.
• Asmall flat-head screwdriverto adjusttheAUXgain controls ifyou connect
an
MP3
playerorvideo source.
• High-qualityRCAinputand outputcables.
Extra cable can cause signal loss and act as
an
antenna for noise. Use only highquality
RCAcablesthatare no longerthan necessaryto make adirectconnection with the source
unitand amplifiers.

Adevicethatlimitsthe range

frequencies sentto a speakeroramplifier.
Equalization: the process
of
boosting orcutting sound signal frequencies to improve the
quality
of
the sound. Theterm comesfrom the filters used to add back high frequencies at
the receiving end
of
analog transmissions overwires.
Equalizationband: thefrequency range impacted bya specificfilter.
dB:
decibel, a measurement
of
the relative difference
in
power
or
intensity between two
acousticsignals
Gain
control:
gain is the amount
of
amplification (voltage, current
or
power)
of
an audio
signal expressed in dB
Graphic
equalizer: a multi-band variable equalizer that uses mechanical controls to
adjustamplitude.
Hz:Abbreviation forHertz, a unit
of
frequency equal to onecycle persecond.
Octave: the musical principle
of
dividing sound frequencies into the eight notes
of
the
musical scale.
OEM: Original EquipmentManufacturer
RCA
input/output:
port through which sound travels
in
and out
of
the system; "RCA"
refers to the type
of
connector, which was originally manufactured by Radio Corporation
of
America.
Slope: howfastthe sound changes rated

This Clarion product purchased from

authorized Clarion dealer are warranted against all defects
in
materials and
workmanship for a period
of
one

year
from the date
of
original purchase other than consumable parts, such as
the battery pack, which are covered for 6 months from the date
of
purchase, when purchased from

authorized Clarion dealer.
All Clarion cables, wires and other accessories if purchased from

authorized Clarion dealer are warranted against
all defects

materials and workmanship for ninety

WARRANTY SERVICE OF THIS PRODUCT. CENTERS

BE OBTAINED

CONTACTING CLARION AT
THE ADDRESS LISTED BELOW.
2. This Limited Warranty will become void if service performed by anyone other than an approved Clarion Warranty
Service Center results
in
damage to the product.

This Limited Warranty does not apply to any product which has been subject to misuse, neglect or accident,
or which has had the serial number altered, defaced
or
removed,
or
which has been connected, installed,
adjusted or repaired, other than
in
accordance with the instructions furnished by Clarion.

This Limited Warranty does not cover car static or other electrical interferences, tape head
or
laser pick-up
cleaning or adjustments,
or
labor costs for the removal or reinstallation
of
the unit for repair.
5.
The sole responsibility
of
Clarion under this Limited Warranty shall be limited
to
the repair
of
the product
or
replacement
of
the product, at the sole discretion
of
Clarion.

Product must be shipped
in
its original carton or equivalent carton, fully insured, with shipping charges prepaid.
Clarion will not assume any responsibility for any loss or damage incurred
in
shipping.

CLARION PRODUCTS PURCHASED FROM A SOURCE OTHER THAN AN AUTHORIZED CLARION DEALER,
INCLUDING ANY AND
