CMAVinciLabdata‐logger001isamodernandadvancedmobilegraphicdata
acquisitionsystem,whichcanbeusedinavarietyofways,standaloneandwitha
computer,intheclassroomandinthefield.ItisahandheldLinuxdeviceequipped
withtwoprocessors,amainprocessortocontrolthedevice’soperatingsystemand
screen,andameasurementprocessortocontrolthemeasurementandcontrol
processes.Ithas4GBinternalmemoryfromwhich1.5GBisavailableforuserfiles.
VinciLabhasa5”capacitivecolortouchscreenthatprovidesahigh‐resolution
display(800x480pixels)offeringeasycontrolofthedevice.Forwireless
connectivityVinciLabisequippedwithWi‐FiandBluetooth.
Thededicateddesktopapplications,pre‐installedonVinciLab,offertoolsforsetting
upthedevice,settingupthewirelessconnections,managinguserfiles,browsing
theweb,watchingvideofiles,playingaudiofiles,etc.
ForconnectingsensorsVinciLabhasfouranalogandtwodigitalBTinputs,which
allowveryfastdatacollectionupto1000000samplespersecond.Twoadditional
sensors,aninternalmicrophoneanda3‐axisaccelerometer,arebuilt‐in.Thedigital
sensorinputscanalsobeusedascontroloutputsforcontrolofeight1‐bitortwo
analogoutputs.
ThepowerfulCoach6Application,pre‐installedonVinciLab,offerslivesensordata
displays,real‐timegraphing,toolsfordataprocessingandpossibilitiestocreatenew
oropenready‐to‐gostudentactivitiesenrichedwithtexts,imagesandweb‐pages.
ByusingwirelessconnectivityandtheVirtualNetworkComputingprotocolthe
Vinci‐Lab’sscreencanberemotelyviewedandcontrolledfromanycomputeror
mobiledeviceconnectedtothesamenetwork.

starting.Pleasewait.’isdisplayed.Waituntilthedevicefinishesitsbooting
procedure,whichtakesaboutaminuteanddisplaysitsstartingHomeScreen.

2.PoweringVinciLab
Aninternalrechargeablebattery(Li‐Poly3.7V,4000mAh,locatedinthebackside
compartment),powersVinciLab.ThebatteryicononthestatusbaroftheHome
Screenindicatestheactualpowerlevel.
VinciLabisdeliveredwithitsbatterypartiallycharged.Thedevicewillworkaslong
asthebatteryprovidespoweroritispoweredviathepoweradapter.Beforethe
batterybecomestoolowforoperatingthedeviceawarningwillappearonthe
screen.Ifyoucontinueworkingwithoutcharging,thedevicewillshutdown.Afully
dischargedbatteryrequiresupto8hoursofchargetime.

USB3.0).UsingthedoubleUSBconnectionssignificantlyimprovescharging
speed.
Batterylifewilldependonthescreenbrightnessandonthesensorsandfeatures
usedbuttypicallyyoucanexpecttouseVinciLabatleast4hourswithoutrecharging
it.Tosavepowerdimthebrightnessofthescreenorturnoffthescreenwhenyou

Allanaloginputscanbe(simultaneously)usedascounterinputs.Sensorssuchas
theCMAPhotogate(0662i)orCMARadiationsensor(0666i)arebydefaultdefined

disappear.
SometimesVinciLabisnotabletodetectorrecognizetheconnectedsensor.This

cannotbeidentifieditsnameanddigitaldisplaydoesnotappearautomatically.
TheuserhastomanuallyselectthepropersensorfromVinciLab’sSensorLibrary,
viatheoptionSensorSettingsavailableintheToolmenuoftheSensorsScreen.
WhensuchsensorisphysicallydisconnectedthenVinciLabkeepsdisplayingthe
sensornameanditsdigitalsensordisplay.Bothcanberemovedbyselectingthe
optionNoneorselectinganothersensorfromtheSensorLibrary.
