Makesureyoureadthroughtheseinstructionsthoroughlybeforeusingyourmeter.Thisguidewillhelp

Description
Display–Maininterfacetoviewcurrentsensorreadingsandmenustate.Willblink“STRT”upon
applyingpowerwhilethesensorwarmsupandstabilizes.
LEDs–areinforlowerrightcorneroftheunitonthemainPCBandarelabeledS,EandP.
SLED–StatusLED.Blinkseverytimeacompletemeasurementcycleisperformedandthevalueis
updated.Serve’sasaheartbeatfortransmitteroperation.
ELED–ErrorLED.Willlightifanyabnormalconditionsaredetectedwithinthedevice,primarilythe
sensorfallingoutofitsrecommendedoperatingspecificationswilltriggerthislamp.
PLED–PowerLED.Willbeoncontinuouslywhenpowerisappliedtotheunit.
Buttons‐TheunithasthreesurfacemountbuttonsabovetheLEDsonthePCB.Theycanbegentlyand
carefullypressedwithyourfinger.Thesebuttonsallowyoutoaccessallaspectsofsensorsoperation
andtestorcalibratedifferentfunctionalmodules.

Standard Operation
TheO2transmitterscomesfactorycalibratedforeasyinstallation.Duringitslifecyclecalibrationmay
becomeperiodicallynecessary.WerecommendperformingaspanO2calibrationeverymonthfor
guaranteedoperationandensuredaccuracy.Noothercalibrationisnecessaryduringthelifecycleofthe
sensor.
Entering the Service Menu
Toentertheservicemenuthebuttonsmustbepressedinafactory‐setorder.Thiscodecanbe
customizedbeforeshipmentbutbydefaultwillbe1‐2‐3.Thebuttonsmustbepressedwithinahalf
secondofeachother,elsetheunitwillreturntostandardoperatingmode.Whenintheservicemenu
theunitwillnotupdatethecurrentO2readings.Onceyouenterthemenuthedisplaywillread“1234”
or“2222”.
Performing an Atmospheric Span Calibration
1. Allowsensortostabilizeforatleast1hour
2. Ensurethesensorisexposedtofreshair
3. Entertheservicemenuwhenyoupress123oneafteranotherinthatsequentially.

Theory of Operation
Thezirconiaoxygensensorutilizessolid‐stateelectrochemicalreactionstoproduceavoltage
proportionaltothecurrentoxygen.Thisvoltageisthendigitalizedandfilteredtoausablevalue.The
oxygensensorhasalsobeenfactorycalibratedtomeetspecifications.
Calibration
Thecalibrationprocessvariesdependingonthetypeofunitandwhetherithasoptionaldatalogging
functionalityornot.Allunitsarefactory‐calibratedwithmultiplereferencepointsofgas,andhavebeen
verifiedtobeaccuratewithintheirspecificfunctionalitybeforeshipment.However,iftheunitis
severelyjoltedorotherwisemechanicallydisturbed,thesensorcandriftrequiringrecalibration.All
calibrationproceduresfollowasingle‐pointcalibrationroutinethateffectivelyshiftsthezero‐pointof
theO2sensor.

InthedesktopsoftwareapplicationO2canbecalibratedindividually.TheO2sensorcanbecalibratedto
0%andthento20.9%.
Duringnormaloperation0%calibrationoftheoxygentransmittershouldnotbenecessary.
CalibrationcanalsobeperformedoverMODBUS,seeadditionaldocumentationforMODBUSregisters.

Calibrationcanbeperformedusingeither0%CO2calibrationgas(typicallynitrogen,Argon,etc.),or
usingafreshsourceofair,assumedtobeapproximately20.9%O2.
Attachcalibrationgastotheunitandconnecttheunittoapersonalcomputer.Openthecalibration
screenintheDASsoftware.Clickthe“Calibrate”buttoninthecalibrationtabforthedesiredgas,
locatedinthe“ConfigureSensor”screen.Aslongasthegasconcentrationisstable,theunitshould
instantlyreflectthecalibratedvalue.Thiscanbeconfirmedbywatchingthedisplay.Toseethe
calibrationvalueinrealtime,clickinthe“CollectRealtime”buttontocapturethesevaluesbefore
openingtheconfigurationscreen.
Real‐timecapture
Zero or Fresh Air Calibration
ApplygasandselecttheappropriateconcentrationandClickthe“Calibrate”button.Thesensorreading
shouldinstantlyreflectthecalibration.
