Operating instructions
Note: Themachine is only designed for shredding biodegradable garden waste such 
as twigs and branches from bushes, hedges and smalltrees. Themachine must not 
be used for processing earth-covered roots, stones, metal, glass, fabric, paper or 
plasticbags. Neither should theshredder be used for material that does not have 
afirm consistency,e.g. kitchenwaste.
Rated voltage
Themachine should only be connected to a220–240 V, 50/60 Hz mains outlet 
protected by a30 mA residual current device (RCD).
Switching the machine on/off
Note: Theshredder is fitted with ano-volt release switch which prevents themachine 
from automatically starting again after apowercut.
• Press [I] to switch theshredderon.
• Press [O] to switch theshredderoff.
Rotation direction selector
Thedirection selector (11) can be used to release or back out twigs or other debris 
which has stuck in theshredder. Note: Theselector switch must only be turned when 
theshredder is switched off and theblade drum has stopped rotating.
• Set theselector to for normal operation.
• Switch theshredder off, wait until theblade drum has stopped rotating and 
set theselector to . Holdin [I ] to start theshredder, [l] will spring backout. 
Theblade drum will rotate in reverse for as long as theswitch is heldin. Thiswill 
enable any material which has fastened in thehopper to be freed and pulledout.
Motor overload cut-out
1. If theshredder is overloaded,e.g. theblade drum is jammed; themotor will 
automatically stop after afew seconds. Theoverload cut-out protection switch 
automatically cuts off thepower supply to themotor. Waitat least 1 minute to give 
themotor time to cool before pressing thereset button (12).
2. Then press [I] to start theshredderagain.
Adjusting the anvil plate
Thecutting mechanism consists of arotating blade drum and ananvil plate which 
theblades on thedrum strike against. Foroptimum results thedistance between 
theblades on thedrum and theanvil plate should be 0–0.5mm. Thedistance is 
pre-set by themanufacturer and should not need to be adjusted before theshredder 
is used for thefirsttime. After some use, theanvil plate will need to be adjusted in 
order for theshredder to work effectively. Thisis done as follows:
