Brewing
1. Open thelid and fill thewater tank with thedesired amount ofwater.
2. Swing thefilter basket holder out and insert a1x4 filter into thefilter basket.
3. Fill thefilter with thedesired amount of coffee grounds and swing thefilter holder
back into position so that it locks intoplace.
4. Close thecarafe lid and slot thecarafe securely onto thehotplate. Makesure
thecarafe lid is slotted in place to prevent thefilter holder’s drip-stop mechanism
from operating during brewing.
5. Plug thecoffee maker’s plug into awall socket and press thepower button (6) to
turn thecoffee makeron. Thepower button should shine red when pressed and
connected to themains.
6. Wait until all thewater has run through thefilter before trying to remove thecarafe
from thehotplate.
7. The coffee maker switches off automatically 40 minutes after it was switched on. It
automatically enters keep-warm mode once brewing is complete.
8. The coffee maker can be switched off before the 40 minutes has elapsed by
pressing the power button.
9. Always turn the coffee maker off after use and unplug it from the wall socket.
Care and maintenance
Cleaning
• Always unplug thelead from thepower point and let thecoffee maker cool down
properly before cleaningit.
• Clean thecoffee maker’s exterior using asoft, moistcloth. Useonly mild cleaning
agents, never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
• Hand wash theglass carafe with alittle washing up liquid and hand dry it with
akitchentowel.
Descaling
• For optimal performance, your coffee maker should be descaled regularly.
• If asubstantial amount of scale is allowed to build up removal will be extremely
difficult even when using adescalingagent. Scalecan also cause leaks in
thebrewing mechanism. Werecommend that thecoffee maker be descaled after
every thirty to fortyuses. Fordescaling you can use amixture of white vinegar
andwater:
1. Mix 2–3 tablespoons of white vinegar (12%) with anamount of cold water equal to
thecoffee maker’s maximum capacity.
2. Pour this solution into thetank. Insert afilter into thefilter basket without coffee.
3. Turn on thecoffee maker and allow it to run through acomplete filteringcycle.
Repeat if necessary. Conduct this descaling process in awell ventilated area and
avoid breathing in theresultingfumes.
4. To clean thecoffee maker after descaling you should run themachine through
2–3filtration cycles using clean water filled to full capacity.
