8. Switch thepercolator on using theon/off switch on thebase. Theindicator light
inside theswitch comes on when thepercolator is switched on.
9. The coffee is ready when theindicator light on thepercolator comeson.
10. Always unplug themains lead afteruse.
Note: Itis important that theappliance is not plugged in until thepercolator is
ready for brewing and thepercolator lid is securely in place. Alwayskeep aneye
onthepercolator during use.
Warming
• The coffee will stay warm for as long as themains lead is connected.
• If thepercolator pot is used for reheating cold coffee, thetube and coffee basket
must be removed first. Neverreheat or keep warm less than 4 cups of coffee.
• Always unplug themains lead afteruse.
Care and maintenance
• Clean theappliance carefully and regularly. Adirty appliance could pose ahealth
hazard. Unplugthemains lead from thewall socket and let theappliance cool off
before cleaning it.
• The appliance should be descaled regularly. Failure to do so could cause
theappliance to malfunction and be hazardous.
• Do not expose theheating element, plug or mains lead towater.
• Never immerse thepercolator in water or other liquid and protect it from drips
andsplashes.
• Always pull theplug out of thewall socket when theappliance is not inuse.
Note: Limescale deposits can affect theperformance of theappliance and even
damage it. Itis therefore important that it is descaled regularly.
Descaling
1. Fill thepercolator with 4½ cups of water. Insertthetube and coffee basket.
2. Let thewater boil for 5 minutes to make it really hot.
3. Pull out theplug from thewall socket.
4. Add adescaling agent and leave it to work for 6 hours. Followtheinstructions on
thepacket of thedescaling agent for thecorrect dosage.
5. Empty thepercolator and rinse it thoroughly.
6. Boil some water in thepercolator with thetube and coffee basket in place until
theindicator light comeson.
7. Switch thepercolator off and unplug it from thewall socket. Emptythewaterout.
8. Wipe theoutside of thepercolator with adamp cloth to remove any splashes
which could spoil thefinish.
9. The percolator is now ready touse.
Note: Useonly food-grade descaling agents inside thepercolator. Neverboil thewater
with thedescaling agent mixedin.
