Thank you for purchasing a Model 411 Alert Boat Alarm
Your model 411 alert is our model 411 boat alarm with the
cell phone alert function added. The alarm installation is the
same as the Model 411 boat alarm except for the addition of an
external antenna to improve reception of the cell phone network.
The alert function requires the installation of an active SIM
card. You may have chosen to purchase the SIM card with the
alarm. If so, it is already installed in your alarm. The SIM card we
have furnished is from AT&T with their GoPhone plan. Air time
charges are at a fixed rate per call or text message. If no calls or
texts are sent then there is no charge. The SIM card will be
active for one year and will have approximately $100.00 air time.
Note that some air time has been used in setting up and testing
the alert.
If a SIM card was not purchased, then it is necessary to
procure an active card from a GSM (“Global System for Mobile
communications”) cell phone provider. Installation of the SIM
card is shown in the next section..
Without a SIM card the operation of the Model 411 Alert is
exactly the same as our Model 411 boat alarm. The same is true
when the SIM card has no air time remaining or when the alarm
cannot connect to the mobile network.

INSTALLATION OF THE SIM CARD
First obtain a SIM card. We suggest the AT&T GoPhone
Plan with the option of a charge per call or text message.
Installation Procedure
1. Remove the cover from the Model 411 Alert Enclosure.
2. Inside the alarm control find the SIM card location and
remove the screw and cover.

3. Open the SIM card holder and insert the SIM card. Note the
orientation of the card by the clipped corner as shown below.
4. Close the SIM card holder.

5. Replace the SIM card cover and then close the alarm
control. This completes installation of the SIM card. Note
the alert module has an on/off slide switch. Move the switch
to on.
SETUP OF THE ALERT
NOTE: If you purchased the SIM card with the alarm from
Columbia Boat Alarms this setup has been completed for you.
When the SIM card was obtained a phone number was
assigned to your cell phone alert. Do not give out this phone
number.
Up to ten authorized phone numbers can be programmed to
receive alert messages. Numbers 0 thru 9. Unless there is a
reason to call multiple numbers limit the phone numbers to one or
two as multiple numbers will use more air time.
1. Start the alarm with the key-fob remote control. This
starts both the Model 411 alarm and the cell phone alert.
Allow several minutes for the alert to connect to the cell
network.
2. Send a text message to the alert number with the first
authorized phone number. For the purpose of this
instruction the authorized phone number is AAAPPPPPPP
and this is the first number or 0.
Send the text message to the alert.

If successful the alert will respond with the following
message.

3. To inquire which phone numbers have been programed
as authorized numbers, send the following text to the
alert. CS?
4. To delete authorized numbers, use:

OPERATION OF THE ALERT
After an authorized number has been programmed into the
alert, it will send a text message asking to synchronize the time
when the alarm is powered on.

When the alarm siren is triggered the alert will place a phone
call (ring call) and then send a text message to the authorized
number. The phone call will not have a voice message but will
simply ring. The text message will be similar to the following:

This is the standard operation of the Alert.
OPTIONAL FEATURES OF THE ALERT
Daily Report.
The alert can send a 10 am daily report when the alarm is
active. The report will be similar to the following:
