1 Checks before rst commissioning
2 Installation of the humidier insert
1. Check ERV lters: For hygienic operation of the Condair MD, use at least lter of class G4 (recommendation:
F7). Install new air lters before operating the Condair MD for the rst time.
2. Check electrical installations (see installation and commissioning manual).
3. Carry out a visual inspection of the hydraulic unit (see installation and commissioning manual).
4. Obtain inlet water values (water hardness, pH value) for the installation site from the local water works.
1. Remove cover of the humidifier unit.
2. Clean the inside of the humidier housing and the cover with a lint-free cloth and mild detergent/disinfectant. To clean,
remove bottom plate (c) and then reinstall.
3. Remove blanking plugs.
4. Push the two pieces of hose "a" (from the installation kit) as far as they will go into the plug-in couplings on the black
water distributors of the humidier insert (b).
5. Place the humidier insert on the bottom plate (c) in the humidier housing, push it into the humidier housing as far
as it will go and press it into the end position. Important: Make sure that the arrows on the water connections of the
elements of the humidier insert correspond to the direction of the water ow.
6. Replace cover of the humidier unit and lock it.

3 Commissioning of the water treatment device
Put the optional water treatment device (decarboniser or reverse osmosis system Condair RO-HS) into operation according
to the separate manual of the respective product.

4 Conguration of the control software
1. Put ERV into operation.
2. Plug in mains cable and switch on hydraulic unit.
3. Control software starts with the installation routine.
Note: The installation routine is only started automatically when the hydraulic unit is switched on for the rst time. If the
humidier has already been switched on, the installation routine must be started manually under "Menu> User Settings>
Installation> Install.Seq."

5 Adjust maximum humidistat (Option for DE/AT)

1. Undo screws and remove housing lid.
2. Set trimmer "Sensitivity" (white arrow) to minimum sensitivity (counterclockwise = left stop).
3. Switch on the hydraulic unit of the Condair MD.
4. Switch the ERV to the lowest fan speed.
5. Slowly turn the "Sensitivity" trimmer clockwise towards maximum until the yellow LED lights up. Turn the trimmer a little
over the switching point.
6. Verication of ow monitoring: Switch off ERV. The yellow LED should go out.
7. Check the trimmer setting again.
8. Replace the housing lid.
When the hydraulic unit is switched on, the currently measured humidity and the setpoint appear on the display of the ma-
ximum hygrostat (see image).
– If display is dark: switch on with .
– With supply air control: Set setpoint with ▲/▼ to 80 %rh
– With extract air control: Set setpoint with ▲/▼ to 55 %rh

1. Remove the housing cover and
switch on the hydraulic unit.
2. Unit versions MD-HW-H and MD-
WW-H: Set the rotary switch of the
circulation pump to level 4.
3. Set "Operating mode" to "Humidify"
under "Menu > User Settings >
Operation".

5. Under "Menu> User Settings> Hu-
midity Level" set the parameter
"High" to 80%rH.
6. Open shut-off valve in fresh water supply. The hydraulic unit is ushed for 60 seconds, then the water tank is lled.
Thereafter, the internal pump starts with a delay. As soon as a gentle rippling sound is heard from the hydraulic unit, the
water circulates in the humidier circuit.
After 120 s delay time, the water heater is switched on.
– Unit variant MD-EL-H: Heating elements in the water tank.
– Unit variant MD-FB-H, MD-HW-H und MD-WW-H: Integrated heat exchanger.
For proper operation, the water circuit must be bled. This normally takes place automatically via the on-site bleeding
valve after the shut-off valves have been opened in the supply and return line.
If this bleeding is insufcient, the water circuit must be manually bled (see 9a/9b).

8a Manual bleeding variant MD-FB-H
1. Switch off hydraulic unit.
2. Make sure that the heating water circuit is in operation.
3. Place absorbent rag under the armored hose in the hydraulic unit (see Fig. 1).
4. Unscrew the valve drive of the zone valve.
5. Loosen the screw connection of the armored hose at the return of the heat exchanger (max 1/2 turn).
6. Press the spring of the zone valve all the way down until water drips from the previously disconnected connection on
the heat exchanger.

7. Tighten the screwed connection of the armored hose and wipe off any water residues with the rag.
8. Screw the valve drive onto the zone valve.

1. Switch off ERV, switch on hydraulic unit and set "Operating Mode" to "Standby" under "Menu > User Settings > Opera-
tion".
2. Open shut-off valves in the supply and return line.
3. Place absorbent rag under the armored hose in the hydraulic unit (see Fig. 2).

4. Select function "Bleeding" under
"Menu > User Settings > Installa-
tion".
The above messages are displayed one after the other.
Important: Do not conrm the second message until you have nished
bleeding.
5. Loosen the screw connection of the armored hose at the return of the heat exchanger until it is audible that air escapes
(max. 1/2 turn). Never completely loosen the screw connection, because otherwise heating or hot water can escape
uncontrolled.

8. As soon as water drips out of the connection on the heat exchanger, the heating water or hot water circuit is bled.
9. Tighten the screwed connection of the armored hose and wipe off any water residues with the rag.

1. Under "Menu > Information > System Status > W.Temp Actual" you can follow the warm up of the water in the water
circuit between the hydraulic unit and the humidier unit.
If the water does not warm up, this could be for the following reasons:
a) The integrated pump of the unit variants MD-HW-H and MD-WW-H can not supply enough water. Gradually raise
the rotary switch on the integrated pump.
b) The heating/hot water circuit was not correctly bled. Repeat bleeding.
2. After a short delay, the color of the drop icon in the upper right corner of the display indicates the operating status:

setting the rotary switch to level 7, followed by level 0.
14. If there is humidity demand, set "Operating Mode" to "Humidify" under "Menu > User Settings > Operation". Turn on
KWL.

intensity on the home screen.

4. Switch off hydraulic unit. Attach housing cover and lock. Switch on the hydraulic unit again.
WARNING!
Guarantee of hygienic operation
After initial commissioning, the Condair MD must not be switched off and must be operated either in the operating
mode "Humidity" (humidity required) or "Standby" (no humidity required). This is the only way to ensure that the
water system will ush periodically and that there is no microbial contamination of the system by stagnant water.
