1 - Safety information

Important safety information
Symbols used
Any maintenance procedure must be performed by a CONTEST
authorised technical service. Basic cleaning operations must tho-
roughly follow our safety instructions.
This product contains non-isolated electrical components. Do not
undertake any maintenance operation when it is switched on as it
may result in electric shock.
This unit is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it in a wet,
or extremely cold/hot locations. Failure to follow these safety ins-
tructions could result in fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to
this product or other property.
WARNING : This unit contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not
open the housing or attempt any maintenance by yourself. In the
unlikely even your unit may require service, please contact your
nearest dealer.
In order to avoid any electrical malfunction, please do not use any
multi-socket, power cord extension or connecting system without
making sure they are perfectly isolated and present no defect.
Recycling your device
• As HITMUSIC is really involved in the environmental cause,
we only commercialise clean, ROHS compliant products.
• When this product reaches its end of life, take it to a
collection point designated by local authorities. The separate
collection and recycling of your product at the time of disposal
will help conserve natural resources and ensure that it is
recycled in a manner that protects human health and the
environment.
Instructions and recommendations
10 - Electric power supply :
This product can only be operated according to a very specific voltage. These
information are specified on the label located at the rear of the product.
11 - Power cords protection:
Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or
pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at
lugs, convenience receptacles and the point where they exit from the fixture.
12 - Cleaning precautions :
Unplug the product before attempting any cleaning operation. This product should be
cleaned only with accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Use a damp cloth
to clean the surface. Do not wash this product.
13 - Long periods of non use :
Disconnect the unit’s main power during long periods of non use.
14 - Liquids or objects penetration :
Do not let any object penetrate this product as it may result in electric shock or fire.
Never spill any liquid on this product as it may infiltrate the electronic components
and result in electric shock or fire.
15 - This product should be serviced when :
Please contact the qualified service personnel if :
- The power cord or the plug has been damaged.
- Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the appliance.
- The appliance has been exposed to rain or water.
- The product does not appear to operate normally.
- The product has been damaged.
16 - Inspection/maintenance :
Please do not attempt any inspection or maintenance by yourself. Refer all servicing
to qualified personnel.
17 - Operating environment :
Ambient temperature and humidity: +5 - +35°C, relative humidity must be less than
85% (when cooling vents are not obstructed).
Do not operate this product in a non-ventilated, very humid or warm place.

We strongly encourage you to only use a fixation system or support recommended
by the manufacturer or supplied with this product. Carefully follow the installation
instructions and use the adequate tools.
Always ensure this unit is firmly fixed to avoid vibration and slipping while operating
as it may result in physical injury.
7 - Ceiling or wall installation :
Please contact your local dealer before attempting any ceiling or wall installation.
8 - Ventilation :
The cooling vents ensure a safe use of this product, and avoid any overheating risk.
Do not obstruct or cover these vents as it may result in overheating and potential
physical injury or product damage. This product should never been operated in a
closed non-ventilated area such as a flight case or a rack, unless cooling vents are
provided for the purpose.
9 - Heat exposure :
Sustained contact or proximity with warm surfaces may cause overheating and product
damages. Please keep this product away from any heat source such as a heaters,
amplifiers, hot plates, etc...

This subtle and compact wall-mounted controller is a really intuitive device which will allow you to control
very precisely any colours of your installation.
Its two program memories offer a quick access to your favourite ambient lighting, while an extra button
allows you to use it as any standard power switch.
Initially designed for the POWTAPE, POW50R and POW100R, the CTLTAPE can also adapt to any product
with a compatible DMX chart.

1 - FADE/COLOR Button
Activates Fade mode (sequences) or preset colours
(Color).
2 - SPEED/DIMMER Button
Allows you to adjust the sequencing speed (Speed)
in Fade mode or the dimming intensity (Dimmer) and
strobe speed.
3 - M1 Button
Allows you to save a scene. If a scene has already
been saved via this button, press it to replay this
scene.
4 - Stand-by LED
The LED is lit when the blackout mode is active.
It flashes when storing a scene.
5 - M2 Button
Similar to M1 button.
6 - Black-out Button
Activates the black-out mode, shutting off all LEDs.
7 - 5-pin connector
3 pins dedicated to DMX output (GND/DAT-/DAT+)
2 pins for 12V power supply unit (+12V/0V).
Please refer to chapter 3 for more details.
8 - Fastening holes
4 holes allow you to install your CTLTAPE.
Remove the lid (9), position your CTLTAPE, use two
screws to secure its position, then replace the lid.
9 - Lid
Covers fastening holes. Written instructions are
located on the lid.
Saving a scene:
- Adjust the scene settings (e.g. by choosing
colours and light intensity).
- Press and hold for 3 seconds one of the two M
buttons (1 or 2).
- The Black-out LED will flash to indicate the scene
has been saved.
- Short-press this button to replay this scene.

Your CTLTAPE features two distinct modes which can be accessed by two-button combinations:
b - RGB1 mode: Standard mode, there is nothing to configure. In this mode, there are two distinct
functions depending on the position of the Fade/Color button. Please find below the different functions
available.
This mode allows automatic colour changes.
Position the Fade/Color button onto Fade and adjust the
colour sequencing speed via the Speed/Dimmer button.
Allows precise colour selection.
Position the Fade/Color button onto the desired colour
(Orange on the drawing opposite) and adjust its intensity via
the Speed/Dimmer button.
Allows you to select a precise colour.
Position the Fade/Color button onto the colour of your
choice (Green on the drawing opposite) and adjust its
intensity via the Speed/dimmer button, from 0 to 100%.
The «Sound» position activates the POWTAPE music-sen-
sitive mode.
The «Strobe» position activates the strobe mode for the
selected colour, from slow to fast.
Identical to the function described in paragraph a-1.

b - RGB2 mode: Press the Stand-by and M1 buttons simultaneously until the Stand-by LED flashes briefly.
In this mode, the Fade/Color button either selects the Fade (colour sequencing) or a precise colour, while
the Speed/dimmer button allows you to access different functions as described below.

3-1 : Connecting your CTLTAPE to power blocks such as the POWTAPE/POW50R/POW100R
Your CTLTAPE is a DMX wall-mounted controller. It can be installed as any standard electrical device and
allow you to control, for instance, the POWTAPE/ POW50R / POW100R power block.
3-3 : DMX Connection to other devices:
Your CTLTAPE features 3 pins for its DMX output (GND/DATA-/DATA+) and 2 pins for 12V power supply unit
(+12V/0V).
Your CTLTAPE requires a 12V power supply unit to be activated.
The CTLTAPE is compatible with any 4-channel DMX device, according to the DMX chart page 9.
Note : Cat. 5 network cables
feature 8 conductors plus the
ground, when connected to
your CTLTAPE the ground and
3 conductors remain inactive.
Please cut out inactive conduc-
tors to prevent short-circuits.
3-4 : Using your CTLTAPE as DMX controller
The drawing below illustrates a single CTLTAPE controlling several POWTAPE units. A single POWTAPE can
only power up one ribbon, however one CTLTAPE can control several POWTAPE.

4 - DMX CHART
Your CTLTAPE uses 4 channels assigned to addresses 1 to 4.
It is crucial to make sure your installation is compatible in terms of DMX chart and assignation.

- Colour, dimmer/strobe and programs of tricolour ribbons settings (depending on conversion)
