safely, please read this Instruction carefully and pay special attention to cautions before and during
installation. C&H air source heat pump water heater is a kind of technical electronic appliance, so
its installation and maintenance should be performed by professionals and the user can contact local
service center for help. Copyrights and interpretation right of this Instruction is owned by C&H.
If the unit is not used for a short time in winter, please keep 24hr power supply for the unit. If
it is not in used for a long time, drain water in unit, water tank and pipeline to avoid freeze crack.
If it is not convenient to operate the unit, please contact service center.
This appliance is not for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

2 Cautions for Operation
Please read the following contents carefully before operating.
WARNING
Once abnormality like burning smell
occurs, please cut off the power supply
immediately and then contact with
service center.
If the abnormality still exists, the unit
may be damaged and electric shock or re
may result.
Don't operate water heater with
wet hand.
Otherwise, it may cause electric
shock.
Before installation, please
see if the voltage of local
pla ce ac cor ds wi th th at
on nameplate of unit and
capacity of power supply,
power cord or socket is
suitable for input power of
this unit.
Special circuit must be adopted for
power supply to prevent re.
Do not use octopus multipurpose plug
or mobile terminal board for wire
connection.
Be sure to pull out the power
plug and drain the main unit
and water tank when water
heater is not in use for a long
time.
Otherwise, the accumulated dust
may cause overheating, fire or
freeze of water tank or coaxial
heater exchanger in winter.
Never damage the electric
wire or use the one which is
not specied.
Otherwise, it may cause
overheating or re.
Before cleaning please cut off the power
supply.
Otherwise, it may cause electric shock or
damage.
The power supply must adopt
special circuit with leakage
switch and enough capacity.
User can not change
power cord socket without
prior consent. Wiring
working must be done by
professionals. Ensure good
earthing and don't change
earthing mode of unit.

Earthing: the unit must be
earthed reliably! The earthing
wire should connect with special
device of buildings.
If not, please ask the qualified
personnel to install. Furthermore,
don't connect earth wire to gas
pipe, water pipe, drainage pipe or
any other improper places which
professional does not recognize.
Never insert any foreign matter
into water heater to avoid
damage . And never insert your
hands into the air outlet of main
unit.
Don't attempt to repair the unit by
yourself.
Improper repair may cause electric
shock or re, so you should contact
the service center to repair.
Don't step on the top of the main
unit or place anything on it.
There is the danger of fall of things
or people.
Never block the air inlet and
outlet of main unit.
It may reduce efciency or cause
stop of the unit and even re.
Keep pressurized spray ,gas holder
and so on away from the main
unit 1m at least.
It may cause re or explosion.
Please note whether the
installation stand is rm enough
or not.
If damaged, it may cause fall of the
unit and injury of people.
Main unit should be installed at
the place with good ventilation
to save energy.
When there is no water in water
tank, never power the unit on to
run.

4 Principle and Features of Product
4.1 Introduction of Principles
Principle Drawing of Water Heater
By use of heat pump principle, air source heat pump water heater consumes a part of electric energy for
compensation and obtains heat from low level energy (air source) around through thermal circuit. The heat
is sent into condenser by compressor and then released into the water which circularly ows through water
pump. Its working principle is the same as heat pump air conditioner. Heat pump air conditioner absorbs
heat from ambient and supplies it into indoor air, while air source heat pump water heater heats the water by
the heat absorbed. Its COP is 3 times higher than traditional electric water heater, so it is a new kind of high
efciency, energy saving and environment friendly product.
4.2 Features of Unit
●High water outlet temp:
Max.70 hot water is cleaner and meets different requirements.
●High efciency and energy saving:
The unit is automatically adjusted by electronic expansion valve.
COP is 3-5 and running cost is 1/4 of electric water heater, 1/3 of gas water heater and 1/2 of fuel water
heater.
●Safe and environment friendly:
Without safety hidden trouble of intoxication of CO, user’s safety is ensured. Adopted with R134a, the
potential value of ozone consumption by the unit is 0.
●Reliable and durable:
Adopted with R134a special compressor the unit is resistant to high temp and pressure. Water tank
adopted advanced stainless steel inner container with dual magnesium sticks to ensure secular life of the
system.
●Easy installation:
Without limitation of environment, the unit can be installed in kitchen, bathroom, balcony, garage, stock

room or basement according to conditions. Without addition care by people, it is suitable for high buildings,
villa, and so on.
●Easy operation:
Water temp can be set by you and water supply can be on or off according to water temp and water
quantity used by user, so that hot water can be supplied at any time in a day. Unit on/off can be set by user
according to requirements (the unit stops when water temp reaches setting point).It can be realized that
running in platykurtosis of electric price to reduce cost.
●Intelligent defrosting:
The unit with anti-freezing and intelligent defrosting functions can efciently solve the problems of heat
exchanger which is easy to freeze or frost and difcult to defrost.
●All-day use:
The unit can make and supply hot water all day in despite of night, overcast and rainy days.

5.4 Instruction to Operation of Wired Controller
Notice:
If there is not any operation of button for 15s, the
wired controller will half light. In this case, the wired
controller can be normally operated if pressing any of the
buttons to let it light.
1) On/Off
Press On/Off button to turn on the water heater, and
repress it to turn off the water heater
Note:
After energization and under normal communication,
the LCD will display water temp and time both under on and
off states of the unit. It means off state if the LCD does not
display running mode, as shown in the right gure.
2) Mode Setting
Under on state of unit, press Mode button to switch the operation modes as the following sequence:
Hot water Save Preset Night work
As shown in the right gure, it is under Hot water mode
with rapid button has being pressed.
Hot water mode: Water heater according to present
water temp immediately starts up or stops heating up.
Save mode: Upper limit of setting temp is 50 .Other
functions are the same as under hot water mode.
Preset mode: Preset time of hot water .The water heater
will decide advance startup time of unit according to ambient
temp and then decides startup and stop of compressor
according to actual water temp and temp difference value. It
will stop 1 hr after preset time. Once setup, it runs circularly
every day.
Nightwork mode: Fix preset time of hot water to
00:00 to 06:00 so that the water heat starts up during this period and decides startup and stop of compressor
according to actual water temp and setting water temp difference value; otherwise, it will stop if over this
period. Once setup, it runs circularly every day.

3) Temp Setting
Press ▲/▼ to increase or decrease setting water temp
.When long press of it, the temp will increase or decrease by
1 per 0.5 second.
Water temp setting range: 35 ~ 70 (50 under save
mode)
As shown in the right gure.
4) Timer Setting
Timer On/Off Setting
Under Hot water or save mode, press Timer to set timer
on/off.
Timer setting: Without time setting, press “Timer” button
and then LCD displays Timer XX: XX on (under on state of
unit, Timer XX: XX off is displayed), numbers of hr ashing.
In this case, press ▲/▼ to adjust hr. Repress Timer button,
numbers of min flashing. In this case, press ▲/▼ to adjust
min. At last, repress Timer to complete timer setting, in which
case, characters of timer and time numbers won’t ash.
Cancel Timer: After timer setting, press Timer and then LCD
won’t display timer’s time, in which case, timer is cancelled.
Timer range: 00:00~23:59. Every press of ▲ or ▼, timer’s time increase or decrease by 1 hr or 1 min.

Preset Time Setting
Under preset mode, present preset time will start automatically. Press Timer to preset time.
Preset time setting: Press Timer button, and then the LCD displays “Preset xx:xx” and numbers of hr
ash. In this case, press ▲/▼ to adjust hr. Repress Timer button, numbers of min ashing. In this case, press
▲/▼ to adjust min. At last, repress Timer to complete preset time setting, in which case, characters of Preset
and time numbers won’t ash.
Preset time range: 00:00~23:59. Every press of ▲ or ▼, preset time increase or decrease by 1 hr or 1 min.
long press either of them, and then preset time automatically increases or decreases by 1 hr or 1 min per 0.5
second.
Preset mode is circular startup. Water heater will heat water according to preset time every day and
advance time corresponding with ambient temp and then stop heating 1 hr after preset time.

System Time Setting
Press check button into check state. In this case,
defaulted check code 00 will be displayed at water temp
displaying area.
Under check state and when check codes are 00, press
Timer button to set system’s time.
In this case, the LCD displays “xx:xx” and numbers
of hr flash. Press ▲/▼ to adjust hr. Repress timer button,
numbers of min ashing. In this case, press ▲/▼ to adjust
min. If system time is not needed, press check button to quit
or let it quit automatically after 15s without any operation.
Repress timer button to conrm time setting and time won’t
ash any more.
System’s time range: 00:00~23:59. Every press of ▲ or ▼, setting time will increase or decrease by 1 hr
or 1 min. long press either of them, and then system time will automatically increase or decrease by 1 hr or 1
min per 0.5 second, as shown in the right gure.
5) Special Functions
Lock Function
If without malfunction of the unit press ▲and ▼ at the
same time for 5s, the wired controller will display lock icon;
meanwhile, buttons of wired controller are invalid and lock
icon ashes if operating any button. Repress ▲ and ▼ at the
same time for 5s, lock icon disappears and functions of wired
controller resume.
If malfunction occurs, lock function will invalid for a
while. Once it is released, lock state will resume. Lock state
will be memorized if power failure and then power resume.
Cleaning Function
When stop of unit without malfunction, press Mode and
▼ at the same time for 5s, the wired controller will enter into
cleaning state and LCD circularly displays Hot Water, Save,
Preset and Nightwork (refer to the right figure). Repress
Mode and ▼ at the same time for 5s to quit.
Cleaning function can maintain 30 min max. After
startup, On/Off button is shielded. Once malfunction occurs,
cleaning function automatically quit.

Parameters Check
This function is usually for debugging personnel.
When press check button into checking state, checking
code ashes and corresponding parameters are displayed in
clock displaying area. Press ▲ and ▼ to switch among code.
6) Malfunction Display
If malfunctions occur during operation of system, temp
displaying area will display error codes.
When malfunction occurs,wired controller shields all
functions except On/Off and checking functions and outdoor
unit is off.
If multiple malfunctions occur at the same time, error
codes will be displayed in cycle.
If wired controller displays malfunction, please turn off
the unit and ask professionals for help.
Refer to error codes in the last page for reference.
5.5 Notices for Operation of Wired Controller
Notices and Instructions
1) Never operate the unit with wet hand.
2) Never knock, throw or frequently disassemble the wired controller.
3) The setting water temp of the unit before outgoing is set to be 50 .The user can adjust the temp to
required value during operation of the unit, but over-high temp will affect COP of the unit.
4) The unit will automatically stop with wired controller displaying “KEEP” once setting water temp
reaches. If actual water temp is decreased to be 5 lower than setting temp, the unit will restart to keep the
setting water temp.
5) Ambient temp during operation of the unit ranges from -15 to 43 . -15 is low limit so the unit will
be limited by the wired controller once ambient temp is lower than it. If in this case, heat pump water heater
won’t start up except operation of E-heater heating the water in water tank. Wired controller will display water
temp and L6 by turns.

6 Installation
6.1 Notices for Installation
●Important Notices
1) Installation of the unit must be done by qualied personnel according to local layout rules and this
Instruction.
2) Before installation, please contact with local maintenance center. Malfunction resulted from non-
authorized department is not easy to handle.
3) When removing the unit to the other place, please rstly contact with the local maintenance center.
4) Suggest choose the shower that rating ow is 6~7L/min, in order to ensure comfort of using.
●Basic Requirements for Installation Location
Installation at the following places may cause malfunction of the water heater. Please contact installation
and service agency if the installation at such places cannot be avoided.
1) A place with heat source, steam and inammable gases.
2) A place with high frequency facilities, such as radio equipment, electric welder or medical equipment;
3) A region with saline-sodic soil near the sea;
4) A place full of machine oil;
5) A place with sulphide gases (such as sulphur spring);
6) An environment with special conditions
●Selection of Installation Location of Main Unit
1) A place where noise and airflow generated by air exhaust do not affect the neighbors, animals and
plants.
2) Ensure good ventilation of main unit.
3) No obstacles near the main unit obstructing the air intake and air exhaust of the unit.
4) The installation position shall be able to withstand the weight and vibration of the main unit.
5) Choose a place far away the direct sunshine or strong wind.
6) The main unit shall be in conformity with the requirements of installation diagram, and ensure
sufcient space for service and maintenance.
7) The length of circulating water connection pipe is within 5m.
8) Please select the place out of the children's reach.
9) Select the place which do not inuence the communal path way and the appearance of the city.
6.2 Installation of Main Unit of Water Heater
1) The requirement for installation of main unit is the same as that for outdoor unit of AC .It can be
installed on the wall, rooftop, balcony or oor. Air outlet should be kept away from the upwind direction.
2) The distance between main unit and each of the walls around or other shelters shall not be too small.
The following requirements shall be met.(Unit: mm)

3) If canopy is installed, radiation and heat absorption of heat exchanger should not be hindered.
4) Main unit should be installed vertically at rm place and xed with foot bolts. If vibration is great, anti-
shock rubber mat should be added.
5) Confirm sealing connection between drainage pipe and water outlet of main unit, as shown in the
following gure.

6.3 Installation of Insulated Water Tank
1) The insulated water tank should be installed and keep levelly within 5m and vertically within 3m from
the main unit. It can be installed on the balcony, rooftop and oor or in the room.
2) Standing water tank must be installed vertically with the bottom on the ground, never suspended.
Installation place must be rm enough and the water tank should be xed on the wall with bolts to avoid
vibration, as shown in the following gure. Weight capacity of water tank during installation should also be
considered.

3) The minimum clearance from the water tank to combustible surface must be 500mm.
4) There should be water pipe, hot water joint and floor drain near the water tank in favor of water

replenishment, hot water supply and drainage of water tank.
5) Connection of inlet/outlet waterway: Connect the safety check valve attached with the unit (→ points
at insulated water tank) with the water inlet of water tank with PPR pipe according to the following gure,
sealing with unsintered tape. The other end of the safety check valve should connect with tap water joint.
Connect the hot water pipe and water outlet of water tank with PPR pipe.

Note: For safe use of water, water outlet/inlet of water tank must connect with a certain length of PPR
pipe ,L ≥70×R2(cm,R is inside radius of the pipe). Moreover, heat preservation should be conducted and metal
pipe can not be used. For the rst use, water tank must be full of water before the power is on.
6.4 Connection of Waterway System
1) If connection between water tank and main unit should be through the wall, drill a holeφ70 for pass of
circulating water pipe. It is unnecessary if the hole is not needed.
2) Preparation of pipelines: Circulating water outlet/inlet pipe must be hot water pipe, PPR pipe with
nominal out diameter of dn25 and S2.5 series (wall thickness of 4.2mm) being recommended. Cooling water
inlet pipe and hot water outlet pipe of water tank should also be hot water pipe, PPR pipe with nominal out
diameter of dn20 and S2.5 series (wall thickness of 3.4mm) being recommended. If other insulated pipes are
adopted, refer to the above dimensions for out diameter and wall thickness.
3) Installation of circulating water inlet/outlet pipes: Connect the water inlet of main unit with circulating
outlet of water tank and water outlet of main unit with circulating inlet of water tank. The automatic discharge
valve attached with the unit must be installed vertically and upwards at water outlet of main unit. The manual
discharge valve A attached with the unit must be installed vertically and downwards next to water inlet of
main unit. The manual discharge valve B attached with the unit must be installed vertically and upwards next
to circulating inlet of water tank. If allowed, valve B should be at the place where it is easy to be operated by
the users.
4) Installation of water inlet/outlet pipes of water tank: Safety check valve (→ on the valve body points at
water tank), lter and cut-off valve must be installed for water inlet pipe according to the installation sketch of
unit. At least a cut-off valve is needed for the water outlet pipe.
5) Installation of blow-off pipe at the bottom of water tank: Connect a piece of PPR pipe with drainage
outlet to oor drain. A cut-off valve must be installed in the middle of the drainage pipe and at the place where
it is easy to be operated by the users.
6) After connection of all waterway pipelines, perform leakage test rstly (refer to debugging of the unit).
After that, bind up the water pipes, water temp sensor and wires with wrapping tapes attached with the unit.
7) Refer to Installation Sketch of Unit for details.

Warning:
① .
The water may drip from the discharge pipe of the pressure-relief device (Safety check valve) and
that this pipe must be left open to the atmosphere.
② .
The pressure-relief device (Safety check valve) is to be operated regularly to remove lime deposits
and to verify that it is not blocked.
③ .
Discharge pipe connected to the pressure relief (Safety check valve) device installed downwards and
frost-free.

Distance between main unit and insulated water tank should not exceed 5m levelly and 3m vertically.
If higher, please contact with us. Water tank on lower and main unit on higher side is recommended.

Prepare the materials according to the above joints dimension. If cut-off valve is installed outside the
room, PPR pipe is recommended to avoid freeze damage.

Waterway pipelines can’t be installed until water heater unit is fixed. Do not let dust and other
sundries enter into pipeline system during installation of connection pipes.

After connection of all waterway pipelines, perform leakage test firstly. After that, perform heat
preservation of waterway system; meanwhile, pay more attention to valves and pipe joints. Ensure enough
thickness of insulated cotton. If necessary, install heating device for pipeline to prevent the pipeline from
freezing.

Hot water supplied from insulated water tank depends on pressure of water tap, so there must be
supply of tap water.
⑥ .
During using, the cut-off valve of cooling water inlet of water tank should be kept normally on.

6.6 Electric Connection
●Layout of Wires
1) Air source heat pump water heater is of I type electric appliance, so reliable earthing measure must be
performed on special device by professionals.
2) Leakage switch and air switch with enough capacity must be reserved in the xed circuit.
3) The power supply must accord with the specifications on the nameplate and special circuit for air
conditioner.
4) The line width of power cord should be big enough. Refer to the following table for selection:

6) Don’t pull the power wire strongly.

Notice:

The power cord must be copper core and working temp should not exceed specied value.

If the power cord is higher than 15m, please enlarge sectional area of it to avoid overload.

Specication of power cord was selected when BV single-core wire (2-4 pieces) through plastic pipe
is laid at ambient temp of 40 and temp of D type air switch is 40 .

If there is any change of actual condition of installation, please change the specication of power cord
and air switch supplied by us.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a
similarly qualied person in order to avoid a hazard.

An all-pole disconnection switch having a contact separation of at least 3mm in all poles should be
connected in xed wiring.
●Electric Wiring and Connection
1) Unscrew the screws xing terminal box cover on right side plate of main unit to open the terminal box
cover.
2) Connect one end of auxiliary electric power cord attached with water tank with terminal board of main
unit, blue with 2, black with 1 and yellow green wire earthing.
3) There is a piece of power cord with leakage protective function attached with the main unit. One end
of it should be connected with terminal board of main unit, blue with N, brown with L and yellow green wire
earthed. And the other end (with leakage module) should be connected with the air switch equipped by the
user. Pay more attention to difference between live and neutral wires, brown with output live wire and blue
wire with output neutral wire of air switch. The end with leakage module can not be installed in or on the
bathroom, kitchen, balcony and other wet places.
4) Coat heat-conducting silica gel on the water temp sensor of the main unit, and then insert it into the
temp sensing joint 2 at the lower side water tank. Connect the temp sensor attached with the water tank(temp
sensing joint 1 in the middle of water tank) with the joint led out by terminal box at the side of main unit and
then put them into the electric box at the side.
5) Fix the heavy-current wire with clamp and close the terminal box cover.

6) Install and x the wired controller and then connect the communication wire between wired controller
and main unit.
7) Separately lay the heavy and light current wires.

6.7 Installation of Wired Controller
●Installation Location of Wired Controller
1) Never install wired controller at wet place or under sunlight directly.
2) Never install the unit and wired controller at the place where there is electromagnetic interference.
3) Make sure communication line is connected into correct port to avoid communication malfunction.

Pay attention to the following items during installation of wired controller:
1) Cut off power supply of heavy-current wire embedded in mounting hole in the wall before installation.
It is prohibited to perform the whole procedure with electricity.
2) Pull out 4-core twisted pair line in mounting hole and then make it through the rectangle hole at the
back of controller’s soleplate.
3) Joint the controller’s soleplate on wall face and then x it in mounting hole with screws M4×25.
4) At last, insert the 4-core twisted pair through rectangle hole into controller’s slot and buckle the front
panel and soleplate of controller together.
