f) lnserting Battery
The Cosina Automatic Electr ic Eye exposure
system operates on
the energy supplied by a
mercury battery . Be sure battery is installed before
operating camera. Slide BATTERY COMPART -
MENT cover, in the direction of the arrow and lift
up small hinged cover.
Wipe the fresh
battery, supplied with camera, with
a clean dry cloth and place it in the compartment
with POSITIVE SIDE (+) up. Close and press
BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER until it
snaps shut .
Replace
battery once a year or when needle meter
action appears sluggish.
IMPORTANT : Replacement battery should be a
mercury type rated 1.3 volts . Specify Ever Ready
EPX-675 or Mallory PX-675 .
8 OPEN BACK COVER
To open BACK COVER lift up the FILM REWIND
KNOB AND CRANK (5) and pull upward until
cover snaps open.

8 FILM LOADING
Place the 35mm film cartridge (20 or 36 ex-
posures)
into the left feed chamber . Push in FILM
REWIND KNOB and lower the REWIND CRAN K.
Pull
out sufficient film and insert end into any slot
of the FILM TAKE-UP SPINDLE. Special slot
design minimizes possibility of film slipout.
Press SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON and advance
film with the FILM TRANSPORT LEVER . Repeat
until sprockE:t teeth engage the film perforat ions
on both top and bottom.

0 ADVANCING FILM
Close BACK COVER and pr ess shut. Turn the
FILM REWIND KNOB clock-wise until film slack
is taken up.
Press the SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON and
advance film forward with the FILM TRANSPORT
LEVER . The FILM REWIND KNOB will revolve
counter clock-wise with each film advance if
properly loaded.
Repeat operation
until No. 1 is visible in the
EXPOSURE
COUNTER WINDOW. Camerais now
ready to expose the first picture.

Move the ASA FILM SETTING LEVER until it is
opposite the ASA speed rating of your film . Check
data supplied
with film for ASA ratings and set
accor
dingly .
Example: Kodacolor ASA 80 , Kodachrome·X and
Ektachrome -X ASA 64 , High Speed Ektachrome-
160 etc .

Hold the AUTOMATIC SETTING RING and
rotate until it snaps into the "A" index position .
Exposures are
now automatically programmed for
AUTOMATIC shutter speed and lens iris settings

for every picture taking situation.
Grip camera in a convenient manner and sight
through the VIEWFINDER. The field, outlined by
BRIGHT-UNE reveals ali the information neces-
sary
for weil composed and perfectly exposed
pictures .

(A) PARALLAX MARKS .
When taking picture closer than 1 meter from
camera, subject should not extend above the
PARALLAX MARK .
(B) ULTRA·BRIGHT CONDITIONS.
If meter needle enters the UPPER RED WARNING
ZONE the conditions are too bright and will
require a N EUTRAL DENSITY FIL TER over the
lens.
This condition will be encountered only whe n
using high speed
black and white film .
(C) NORMAL CAMERA OPERATION .
Correct exposure range is bounded by the top and
bottom RED WARNING ZONES . Num erals to the
left indicate the shutter speeds and nùmerals in th e
right border are the f/stops or lens a pertur e
settings.
(D) INSUFFICIENT LIGHT.
When meter needle sinks to th e LOWER RED
WARNING ZONE correct exposures are no long er
possible
with existing light. Move s ubj ect into a
brighter area or switch to FLASH .

fi) FILTERS
Front of tht1 lens barrel is threaded to accept a
46mm screw-in type filter. Since the CdS AUTO-
MATie ELECTRIC EYE is a part of the lens
barrel, exposures are
automatically compensated
when filter is in position.
0 REWINDING FILM
When ali exposures have been taken, film must be
rewound into the cartridge before camera cover
can be opened.
Failure to do so may result in
fogging
of film. Before rewinding film, depress the
REWIND RELEASE BUTTON on botton of
camera. Once it is depressed the botton will remain
down .
Flip up CRANK in the FILM REWIND KNOB and
tu rn it clock-wise until a loosening of the tension is
filt as film leaves the TAPE-UP SPINDLE. Several
additional turns will provide assurance that film is
completely contained in the cartridge. Open the
BACK COVER by lifting the FILM REWIND
KNOB . Remove FILM CARTRIDGE and have it
processed as soon as possible for optimum picture
results.

4D) FLASH PICTURES
The Cosina 35S accepts flash linder and cordless
direct electrical Flashgun pictures. Turn the
AUTO-MANUAL SETTING RING from the "A"
position and choose the desired f/stop . The shutter
speed is automatically set at 1/25th second.
Note : Do not take flash exposures beyond 3
meter.

Der automatische Belichtung smesser der Cosina 35S wird mit einer 1,3V Ouecksilbe r-Batter ie
betrieben.VergewissernSie sich, dass
var der Benut zung des Apparates ei ne Batterie eingelegt ist.
Deckel der Batterie-Kammer in Pfeilrichtung schieben und anheben. Batterie, welche mit dem
Apparat geliefert wird, mit einem sauberen und trockenen Tuch reinigen und in die
Batterie -Ka mmer einlegen. Die Seite der Batterie mit dem Zeichen muss gegen den Deckel
gerichtet sein . Batterie-Kammer wieder schliessen. Batterie einmal jiihrlich, oder wenn die
Belichtungsmessernadel im Sucher nur zôgernd funktioniert, auswechseln.
Wichtig : Beim Auswechseln der Batterie folgenden Typ neu einsetzen: Mallory PX 675 1,3V
oder UCAR EPX-625 1,3V.

8 Oeffnen der Rüchwand
Um die Rückwand zu ôffnen, muss die Filmrückspullkurb el hochgehoben werden, bis sich die
Rückwand selbst ôffnet .

Filmrückspullkurbel wieder ganz in das Gehiiuse eindrücken . Genügend Filmvorspann heraus-
ziehen
und in einen der Schlitze der Aufwickelspule einführen .
Auslôser
betiitigen . Film mit dem Filmtransporthebel weitertransportieren. Dieses wiederholen,
bis sich die ganze Filmbreite bei der Aufwickelspule be f indet . Kontrollieren, dass die
Filmperforation beidseitig richtig auf den Nocken der Transportwalze liegt und dass der Film
angespannt ist .

Rückwand schliessen. Rückspullkurbel in Pfeilrichtung drehen, bis der Film richtig gespannt ist .
Auslôser
betiitigen und Film weiter - transportieren . Wiihrend diesem Vorgang muss die
Filmrückspullkurbel entgegen der Uhrzeigerrichtung drehen. Das ist die Kontrolle, dass der
Film richtig transportiert wird. Diesen Vorgang weiter ausführen, bis die Nummer "1" im
Bildziihlwerk erscheint. Apparat ist nun für die erste Aufnahme bereit._

Sowohl die Blendeneinstellung (von 1: 2.7 bis 1:16) wie die Verschlusszeit (1/30 - 1/650) wir d

Lichtverhiiltnissen eingestellt.
Apparat ruhig hatten und durch den Sucher blicken . Der Leuchtrahmen begrenzt das Feld une
erlaubt ein praktisches Anvisieren des Aufnahmeobjektes .

Bildes an.
Was darüber liegt, wird nicht auf der Aufnahme èrscheinen.

(BI Extrem helle Lichtverhiiltnisse
Wenn die Belichtungsmessernadel in dieses rote Feld hereinkommt, bedeutet dies, dass die
Lichtverhiiltnisse zu hell sind. ln diesem Fall muss ein Graufilter var das Objektiy geschraubt
werden. Dieser Fall tritt nur in Erscheinung bei Benut zung von Hochempfindlichen schwarz-
wei ss-Fi lmen .
(Cl Normale Belichtung
Solange sich die Belichtung smessernadel im weissen Bereich befindet, wird eine gu te Belichtung
gewiihrleistet. Die Zahlen rechts (2.7, 4, 5.6, 8, 16) geben den eingeste llten Bl endenwert an, die
Zahlen links daneben (30, 60, 125, 250, 6501 geben die eingestellte Verschlusszeit an.
(Dl Ungenügende Lichtverhiiltnisse
Bleibt die Belichtungsmessernadel im unteren roten Feld, bedeutet dies, dass die Lichtver -
hiiltnisse ungenügend sind
um gut belichtete Aufnahm en zu erha lten. ln diesem Fall muss ein
Blitzgeriit benützt werden.
(E1 Entfernungsmesser
Wiihrend Sie durch den Sucher blicken sehen Sie vier gelbe Figuren, die die Entfernungsein -
ste
llung dieser Kamera angeben ( ~ 1 m, I:SQ 1, 5m, L1JtJ 3m, LJ ~ ). Durch den Entfernung se in-
stellring zu drehen sehen Sie durch den Sucher, dass eine dieser Figuren grün beleuchtet wird
und sa die Einstellungsentfernung angibt.

0 Filter
Einschraubgewinde für Filters ist 46mm. Da die Automatische -Be lichtung vorn im Objektiv
eingebaut ist werden die Belichtungsmessungen automatisch kompensiert wann ein Filter
verwendet wird.
0 Filmrückspulung
Wenn der Film ganz belichtet ist , muss dieser in die Filmpatrone zurüc k.gespult werden, bevor
die Rückwand geëffnet wird. Zuvor muss auf die Kupplung für Filmrückspulung gedrückt
werden, um die Transportwalze zu befreien . Erst dann mit der Rückspulung beginnen. Dazu
Kurbel umlegen und in Pfeilrichtung drehen, bis sich der Film-anfang von der Aufwickelspule
geliist hat . Rückwand ëffnen, indem man die Filmrück s pulkurb el herauszieht. Filmpatrone
herausnehmen und sofort entwickeln lassen.

La cellule du Cosina 355 fonctionne gràce a l'énérgie d'une pile au mercure. Assurezvous que la
pile est en place avant d'utiliser l'appareil. Pour cela, degager le couvercle du compartiment de
la
pile dans la direction de la flêche et introduisez la pile le pole i vers l'extérieur. Refermez le
couvercle
du compartiment pile.
Remplacez la
pile au moins une fois par an. Type de la pile Ever Ready EPX 675 ou Mallory PX
675 (1,3 volts).
