IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Here are some basic safety precautions that you should carefully follow as you use your
new Courant blender. Read all instructions carefully! Courant is not responsible for dam-
age or injuries caused by improper use of the appliance.
GENERAL SAFETY
1. Don’t touch any moving parts!
2. Keep yourself safe from electrical shocks: keep the power handle and power cord
out of water or other liquids.
3. Be careful when operating the hand blender with or around children.
4. Do not use the immersion blender outdoors, especially during inclement weather
(snow, rain, excessive moisture). Store it in a dry place!
5. Don’t keep the hand blender on or near a hot gas or electric burner. Keep it out of
the oven.
6. Don’t use the immersion blender for anything besides what we described at the
beginning of this manual.
7. Do not let the immersion blender run continuously for more than 2 minutes.
8. If hand blender runs continuously for a long period of time (1-2 minutes), allow it
to rest for at least 5 minutes before turning it back on again.
9. When cleaning the blender sha, use warm tap water. Make sure that you wash o
all soap and detergent thoroughly.
10. Never immerse the motor unit in water or other liquids! It should be carefully
cleaned separately with a damp cloth.
11. The hand blender isn’t drop-proof: hard impact may cause damage to the unit.
12. Never leave packaging materials (i.e. plastic bags, polystyrene foam, nails, staples,
etc.) around; they can pose a choking risk to children.
13. Dispose of your immersion blender properly through a local appliance recycling
or disposal service.
14. While the hand blender is running, do not handle it with wet hands or in bare feet.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
1. Make sure to unplug the immersion blender from its outlet when:
• You’re not using it.
• You’re adding or removing accessories.
• You’re cleaning it.
2. Be careful to keep the cord from hanging over the edge of tables, counters, etc.
3. Take care to keep the cord from touching hot surfaces.
4. As soon as you’re done blending, unplug the hand blender to avoid accidentally
turning it on.
5. Unplug immersion blender before touching any parts (especially the blades).
6. This hand blender uses a polarized plug; one prong is slightly wider than the other.
Be gentle, and don’t force the plug into the socket. To reduce the risk of electric
shock, this plug will t in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug doesn’t t into
the outlet, reverse the plug and try again. If it still doesn’t t, call a qualied elec-
trician to install a suitable electrical outlet. Do NOT modify the plug in any way.
7. Ensure that the immersion blender’s power needs won’t cause problems with
your electrical wiring! Ensure that the hand blender’s maximum power usage (200
Watts) does not exceed the capabilities of your circuit breaker or fuses.
8. If it’s necessary to use adapters, multiple sockets, or extension cords, make sure
they comply with local electric safety standards. Do not exceed power consump-
tion limits.
9. When unplugging the immersion blender, do not tug on the power cord. Grab the
head of the cord and gently remove it from the socket.
BLADE SAFETY
1. Keep your hands and utensils away from the blades while the hand blender is
running. Severe injury can occur if you come in contact with the turning blades.
2. Please, handle the blades carefully! They are very sharp, and can cut or seriously
injure you if you aren’t careful. Never manipulate the blades unless the unit is un-
plugged and the blades are fully stopped.
3. If your blades get jammed while the hand blender is running, USE CAUTION. Make
sure that you unplug the immersion blender before trying to x the problem.
FOOD SAFETY
1. Do not process very hot foods (maximum temperature: 140° F / 60º C).
2. Take care to remove any fruit pits, bones, etc. from foods before blending to pre-
vent breaking blades and/or damaging gearing.
3. Chop/quarter or otherwise cut up hard/solid foods as necessary to aid in fast,

even blending.
4. Don’t leave your blender immersed in hot liquids during cooking. Use the blender
and remove it as soon as possible.
5. When aerating/beating mixtures, keep the blade/attachment just below the sur-
face of the liquid to facilitate intake of air.
6. Be careful not to damage cookware that uses non-stick coating. If possible, use
with stainless steel, aluminum, or other durable metal cookware.
7. Don’t immerse the blender too deep; the seam between the power handle and the
sha should be at least an inch above the liquid level line.
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing a quality Courant blender. Your Courant blender will help you
easily blend a wide variety of tasty treats.
This blender is ideal for making milkshakes, smoothies, sorbets, sauc-
es, creams, cocktails, and friends! However, it’s not made for crushing
ice, frozen foods, cereals, rice, or coee. Blending any of these can
damage the blades.
GETTING TO KNOW YOUR BLENDER
(A&B) Speed Buttons (Located on the Power Handle): (I) Low
Speed (II) High Speed
(C) Power Handle: Where the electric cord connects and the motor
resides. Don’t get it wet!
(D) Blender Sha (removable): The sha that gets immersed in liq-
uid containing the blade at the bottom.
(E) Stainless Steel Blade: Located at the bottom of the Blender Sha.
GETTING STARTED
Before using the appliance for the rst time:
1. Ensure that the immersion blender and parts are fully intact.
2. Disassemble the unit for cleaning by holding the unit upright with two hands and turning
the Power Handle (C) counter-clockwise one-quarter turn. Pull to separate.
3. Carefully wash the blender sha and blades. These parts can be washed with a nonabra-
sive sponge and mild detergent. The power handle should be cleaned with a damp cloth
and le to dry before use.
4. Reassemble the unit by inserting the Power Handle (C) into the Blender Sha (D) and
turn the Power Handle clockwise ¼ turn (See “1” in the diagram above).
Note: The blade itself is not removable form the Blender Sha.

HOW TO USE YOUR BLENDER (SAUCEPAN BLENDING)
1. Take the pan o the heat and let it cool slightly. Otherwise your hand blender
could overheat.
2. Fit the power handle (C) inside the blender sha (D) turn and lock.
3. Plug in. To avoid splashing, place the blade (E) in the food before switching on.
Note: Do not immerse past one inch below the air vents on the power handle. (See
number 2 in the diagram.)
4. Hold down either the low-speed (I) or high-speed (II) buttons depending on the
desired result. (Unit shuts o as soon as buttons are released.)
5. Move the blade through the food and use a slow up and down action.
6. If your blender gets blocked, unplug before clearing.
7. Aer use, unplug and dismantle.
AFTER YOU’RE FINISHED
1. Disconnect plug from electrical socket (Electrical Safety, Steps 3, 8).
2. Repeat “Getting Started” steps 2 and 3.
3. Fight o the temptation to make another tasty smoothie.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Don’t operate your blender under the following circumstances:
• When the cord or its plug is damaged.
• Aer the hand blender has malfunctioned.
• If the immersion blender has been dropped or damaged in any way.
