INSTALLATIONINSTRUCTIONS:
The SV-5400IRisaspecialdesigned licenseplatemounted back up camerawithasuperwide
viewangleand Infra-RedLEDforNightVision.TheSV-5400 isdesignedtobeinstalledinthe
back ofthe licenseplateon anyvehicle.Itiseasy toinstallwithno drilling required,requiring
minimalinstallation time.Thisuniquelydesigned productcan be usedforanypassengercar,
SUVand Van.It can alsobe used on manylarge SemiTrucks,SchoolBuses,and Transit
Buses

INSTALLATION
MOUNTING:
1.The PlateCam™SV-5400IRRearVisionSystemusesawide-anglelensforbestall around
performance.TheCamerawill displaythefull widthofmostparkingspacesup to8feetor
evenwider.
2.The SV-5400isdesignedtoworkbeston vehiclesthathavealicenseplatelocatedatthe
centerand abovetherearbumper.If yourvehiclehasaplatelocation thatisoffsettothe left
side,rightside,oryourplateislocatedunderthe bumperthen thePlateCam™maynot
provideoptimumperformance.
3.The design oftheSV-5400allowsthecameratobe angledtowardstherear“Blind Spot”
behindthevehicle.
4.The SV-5400isdesignedtousetheexistingLicensePlatemounting equipment

CAMERA:
1.The Camerahasbuilt-incircuitrytoreversethe imagesoobjectsontherightofvehicle
appearon therightandobjectsontheleftappearon the left when lookingatastandard
monitor.(See ReverseImaging next sectionformoreinformation.)
2.The colorCCD cameraismaintenance-free, waterproof (IP-68)andvibrationresistant.
3.ThiscameraisequippedwithInfra-Red LEDforNightVision.Thiscombined withthevehicle
back uplightswill giveultimatelightinginanydaytimeornighttimesituation.
4.The cameraiscompletelyelectronic.ThereareNO manualadjustmentsforfocus,etc.

REVERSE (MIRROR)IMAGING:
TheSV-5400Camerahasbuilt-incircuitryto“mirror” theimagesoobjectsontherightofvehicle
appearon the rightand objectsontheleftappearon theleftwhenlooking atastandardmonitor.If
yourexistingmonitororin-dashmonitorhasareversecamerainput wherethemonitoritselfperforms
the mirrorimage,thenyourpicturewill notbe correct. Thisisduetothefactthe image isbeing
mirrored bytheplatecam and mirrored byyourmonitor.Check tosee if youcancontrolthesettings
inyourmonitortoturnoff themirrorimagefeature.Ifnot,theSV-5400hasawirethatcan be
groundedtoreversetheimagebacktonormal. (See WiringDiagram)
WIRING:
1.Carefullychooseahiddenout-of-sightlocation(possiblybehindtheplate)fordrillingthecable
hole.Somevehiclesmayhavean existinghidden rubbergrommetorplugavailabletoavoid
havingtodrill intothebody.Besuretodouble-check foranywiring orobstructionsbehind the
surfacewhereyouaregoingtodrill the cablehole. Usetherubbergrommet tomakeawatertight
sealforthecablewhereitpassesintothevehicle.
2.Chooseaconvenientplacetorunthecameracableuptheleft,rightorcenterofthe vehicle.As
aruleof thumb,trytoavoidmainfactoryharness loomsthatmaycontainhigh levelsorRFnoise
orinterference.
3.You canconnectthecamerapowerattherearofthevehiclebehindthereverselights.You may
alsoconnect powerinsidethevehicleunderthe dashorinthe trunk. TheRed powerwiregoesto
ReverseLight+12V,and the BlackwiretoGround.The Whitewireisforreverseimaging.Leave
thiswireunconnectedforReverseImage orGround thiswireforNormalImage.
4.The otherpairofRed andBlack wiresseparatefromthemainconnectorharness, arefortheLED
lights.Connect Red to+12VReverseLight andBlack toGround
5.Run theBlack RCAvideocabletoyourmonitor’svideoinputorreversecamerainput.
