1. Einleitung
Danke, dass Sie sich für ein Produkt von CSS entschieden haben. Bitte lesen
Sie diese Gebrauchsanweisung sorgfältig durch und beachten Sie beim Be-
trieb des Gerätes die entsprechenden Anweisungen. Bitte bewahren Sie die
Gebrauchsanweisung griffbereit am Ort der Nutzung des Gerätes auf.
2. Zweckbestimmung
Das Bett-Interface BIF8plus ermöglicht mit Hilfe einer Infrarot-Fernbedienung
oder einem Umfeldkontrollgerät das kabellose Bedienen eines elektrisch ver-
stellbaren Bettes. Das BIF8plus wird anstatt bzw. parallel zu der kabelgebun-
denen Handbedienung in die Motorensteuerung des Bettes eingesteckt.
BIF8plus stellt hierfür bis zu zehn verschiedene Schaltfunktionen zur Verfü-
gung.

Handhabung
Bitte behandeln Sie das Gerät sorgfältig. Das Gerät enthält empnd-
liche elektronische Bauteile. Es dürfen keine Veränderungen daran vor-
genommen werden.
Das Gerät ist nicht lebenserhaltend oder lebensunterstützend. Das
Gerät besteht aus mehreren Komponenten. Eventuell können kleine
Einzelteile vom Gerät getrennt werden, wodurch möglicherweise Ersti-
ckungsgefahr oder eine andere Gefahr für Kinder besteht. Kleine Kinder
oder Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung sollten das Gerät nicht ohne
Aufsicht erreichen oder benutzen.
Verwenden Sie das Gerät nicht in feuchten, nassen, sehr kalten oder
sehr heißen Umgebungen (siehe Temperaturangaben bei Technischen
Daten).
Montage
Das Gerät ist so zu befestigen, dass es nicht herunterfallen kann. Es sind
nur Komponenten des Herstellers zu verwenden. Der Benutzer trägt das
alleinige Risiko für die Montage. Der Hersteller haftet nicht für Perso-
nen- oder Sachschäden, die durch Herunterfallen des Geräts oder sei-
ner Komponenten verursacht werden.
4. Sicherheitshinweise
Reparatur
Bitte versuchen Sie keinesfalls, das Gerät zu öffnen und selbst zu repa-
rieren.
Das Zerlegen des Geräts kann zu dauerhaften Schäden am Gerät und
zu Verletzungen führen. Wenden Sie sich an Ihren Fachhändler oder den
Hersteller, wenn das Gerät Schäden aufweist oder nicht ordnungsge-
mäß funktioniert. Wenn das Gerät oder sein Zubehör mechanisch be-
schädigt ist, darf es nicht mehr eingesetzt werden.

5. Reinigung und Desinfektion
Bevor Sie das Gerät reinigen, ziehen Sie alle Kabel ab. Das Gerät sollte mo-
natlich mit einem zur Verwendung in Krankenhäusern vorgesehenen Desinfek-
tions- und Reinigungsmittel gesäubert werden. Die Reinigung sollte nur mit
einem Wischtuch erfolgen. Wischen Sie alle Außenfl ächen ab und lassen Sie
sie von selbst trocknen oder befolgen Sie die Wischanleitung.
Verwenden Sie keine Sprays, die in das Gerät möglicherweise Feuchtigkeit
eindringen lassen. Keinesfalls darf irgendein Bestandteil des Gerätes einer
Dampf- oder Nasssterilisation unterzogen werden.

8. Anwendung des Geräts
Per Infrarot-Fernbedienung bzw. der CSS Setup Software für PC lassen sich von
einem geschulten Techniker beliebig viele der zehn Schaltfunktionen gruppie-
ren und gemeinsam schalten. Jeder Funktionstaste der Fernbedienung können
kombinierte Funktionen zugeordnet werden.
In Betriebnahme:
Schließen Sie das BIF8plus an den Strom an. Sofern keine weiteren BIF8plus
Geräte im Raum sind, können Sie nun das Bett mit Ihrem Umfeldkontrollgerät
bereits steuern. Passen Sie gegebenenfalls die Steuerung an Ihre Bedürfnisse
weiter an. Ist alles eingerichtet, kann die BIF8plus an Ihrem Bett oder in naher
Umgebung platziert werden.
Standard-Steuerung:
Das Bett-Interface wird mit einer Standard-IR-Fernbedienung geliefert, welche
in den ersten drei Abschnitten die gängigen Funktionen einer Bettsteuerung
aufweist. Die letzten zwei Abschnitte können als individuelle Befehle von ei-
nem geschulten Techniker belegt werden.
Sicherheit
BIF8plus verfügt über mehrere Sicherheitsfunktionen.
Automatisches Abschalten einer Dauerfunktion
Eine Dauerfunktion durch dauerhaftes Betätigen einer 3 Funktionstas-
te wird nach einer vordenierten Zeit unterbrochen. Die vordenierte
Zeit bis zum automatischen Abschalten lässt sich vom Techniker in Se-
kundenschritten auf 1 bis 25 Sek einstellen.
Mehrfachbetätigung gleicher Funktionen
Um eine sichere Bedienung per Infrarot zu gewährleisten, wird zwischen
dem mehrmaligen Betätigen gleicher Funktionen vor Erreichen der
automatischen Abschaltung eine Funktionszwangspause von 2 Sek ein-
gelegt (bei neueren IR-Fernbedienungen wird das über ein toggel bit
realisiert). Bei Erreichen der automatischen Abschaltung kann jedoch

die gleiche Funktion sofort wieder betätigt werden. Wird eine neue
3 Funktionstaste gedrückt, wird die ausgewählte Funktion (Funktions-
gruppe) sofort ausgeführt.
Unterschiedliche Geräteadressen
Werden in einem Raum mehrere Betten mit einem BIF8plus verwen-
det, muss gewährleistet werden, dass jedes Bett nur auf die jeweils zu-
gehörige 3 Fernbedienung reagiert. Aus diesem Grund lässt sich die
Empfangsadresse von einem geschulten Techniker einstellen. Jedem
BIF8plus kann eine von vier möglichen Geräteadressen zugeordnet
werden, so dass bis zu vier mit BIF8plus gesteuerte Betten in einem
Raum stehen können.
Überwachung Schaltkontakte
BIF8plus erkennt, wenn einer der Schaltkontakte durch einen Defekt
elektrisch nicht mehr getrennt wird. In diesem Fall wird die Freischal-
tung der Schaltkontakte deaktiviert. Dieser fehlerhafte Zustand wird
durch die rot leuchtende 2 Signalleuchte an der Stirnseite des Ge-
häuses angezeigt.
Systemselbstüberwachung
Im BIF8plus wurden Sicherheitsvorkehrungen für eine eventuelle Stö-
rung der Steuereinheit getroffen. Durch ein Watchdog-Modul wird im
Falle eines Ausfalls die Freischaltung der Schaltkontakte deaktiviert.
Hohe Schutzklasse
Die Elektronik ist mit einem Gehäuse der Schutzklasse IP65 gegen
Strahlwasser geschützt. Die Stromversorgung wird über ein dauerkurz-
schlussfestes Netzteil nach Sicherheitsnorm IEC 60601-1 zugeführt.

9. Einstellungen (nur durch geschultes Fachpersonal)
Das Öffnen des Gehäuses darf nur durch geschultes Fachpersonal
erfolgen!
Standard-Einstellungen:
In der Regel wird die 3 IR-Fernbedienung ab Werk fertig konfektioniert und
bestückt geliefert. So müssen hier keine weiteren Änderungen mehr an der
Hardware vorgenommen werden. Sind mehrere (bis zu 4) Bettsteuerungen in
einem Raum, ist zu gewährleisten, dass jede Steuerung Ihr eigenes Bett an-
steuert. Hierfür müssen die Adressen der jeweiligen 3 IR-Fernbedienungen
und BIF8plus eingestellt werden:
• 3 IR-Fernbedienung Adresse ändern
Betätigen Sie und mit der passenden Adresse (rote Ziffer).
• BIF8plus Adresse ändern über die 3 IR-Fernbedienung
Betätigen Sie wieder und und bestätigen Sie zum Schluss mit .
Als Standard-Adresse in den Werkseinstellungen wird Adresse/Taste 1 genutzt.
Individuelle Einstellungen mit BIF-Software:
• 1 BIF8plus an Netz anschließen
Versorgen Sie das BIF8plus durch Einstecken des Netzteils mit Strom
• BIF8plus an PC anschließen
Schließen Sie das BIF8plus via USB an den PC an.
• Software starten
Starten Sie danach die Universal Congurator Software.
• Funktionen zuordnen
Nun können Sie die Funktionen durch Anklicken den passenden Relais
zuordnen. Bestätigen Sie ihre nale Eingabe mit 1 Set.
(220V).

Fehlerdiagnose Freischaltung & Schaltkontakte:
BIF8plus erkennt, wenn einer der Schaltkontakte durch einen Defekt elektrisch
nicht mehr getrennt wird. In diesem Fall wird die Freischaltung der Schaltkon-
takte deaktiviert. Zur Sicherheit des Benutzers werden weitere Schaltbefehle
ignoriert. Dieser fehlerhafte Zustand wird durch die rote LED an der Stirnseite
des Gehäuses angezeigt.

10. Wartung / Überprüfung
Das Gerät muss in regelmäßigen Abständen von 3 Monaten auf Sicherheit und
Funktion überprüft werden. Die Überprüfung muss durch ausgebildetes Fach-
personal erfolgen. Im Einzelnen ist Folgendes zu prüfen:
• Funktionsprüfung
• Steckverbinder und Kabel auf Beschädigung und Verschmutzung
• Montageteile auf sichere Haltefunktion und Beschädigung

1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing a high quality CSS product. Please read these instruc-
tions for use carefully and take care of these instructions when using the device.
Please keep the instructions for use at hand when you use the device.
2. Intended use
The Bed Interface BIF8plus enables the wireless operation of an electrically
adjustable bed with the help of an infrared remote control or an environment
control device. The BIF8plus is plugged into the motor control of the bed in-
stead of or with the wired hand control. BIF8plus provides up to ten different
switching functions for this purpose.

Handling
Please handle the device carefully. The device contains sensitive elect-
ronic components. It is not allowed to do any modication.
The device is not life-sustaining or life-supporting. The device consists
of several components. Small items may be detached from the device,
which may result in suffocation or other danger to children. Small chil-
dren or people with intellectual disabilities should not reach or use the
device without supervision.
Do not use the device in damp, wet, very cold or very hot environments
(see temperature information in technical data).
Mounting
The device must be mounted in a way that it cannot fall down. Only
recommended mounting components from the manufacturer are to be
used. The user bears the sole risk of mounting. The manufacturer is not
liable for personal injury or property damage caused by the device or its
components falling down.
4. Safety instructions
Repair
Under no circumstances you should open the device and repair it by
yourself. Disassembling the device can permanently damage the device
and cause injury. Contact your reseller or the manufacturer if the device
is damaged or does not work properly. If the device or its accessories
are mechanically damaged, they may no longer be used.

5. Cleaning and disinfection
Before cleaning the device disconnect all cables. The device should be cleaned
daily with a disinfectant and cleanser intended for use in hospitals. Cleaning
should only be done with a wipe. Wipe all surfaces and let them dry or follow
the wiping instructions.
Do not use sprays that may allow moisture to enter the device. Under no cir-
cumstances may any component of the device be subjected to steam or wet
sterilization.

8. Use of the device
Using the infrared remote control or the CSS setup software for PC, a trained
technician can group any number of the ten functions for switching. Combined
functions can be assigned to each function key on the remote control.
Installation:
Connect your BIF8plus to power. If there are no other BIF8plus devices in
the room, you can now control the bed with your environment control device.
If necessary, adjust the control further to suit your needs. Once everything is set
up, the BIF8plus can be placed at your bed or close to the bed.
Standard control:
The bed interface comes with a standard IR remote control, which has the usual
functions of a bed control in the rst three sections. The last two sections can
be assigned as individual commands by a trained technician.
Safety
BIF8plus has several security features.
Automatic switching off of a permanent function
A permanent function by continuously pressing a 3 function key is in-
terrupted after a predened time. The technician can set the predened
time before automatic switch-off from 1 to 25 sec.
Multiple activation of the same functions
In order to ensure safe operation via infrared, a mandatory function pau-
se of 2 sec is inserted between the repeated activation of the same
functions before the automatic switch-off is reached (with newer IR re-
mote controls this is implemented via a toggle bit). When the automatic
switch-off is reached, however, the same function can be activated again
immediately. If a new 3 function key is pressed, the selected function
(function group) is executed immediately.

Different device addresses
If several beds are used with a BIF8plus in a room, it must be ensured
that each bed only reacts to the associated 3 remote control. For this
reason, the receiving address can be set by a trained technician. One
of four possible device addresses can be assigned to each BIF8plus, so
that up to four BIF8plus-controlled beds can be in one room.
Monitoring switch contacts
BIF8plus recognizes when one of the switching contacts is no longer
electrically separated due to a defect. In this case, the activation of the
switching contacts is deactivated. This faulty condition is indicated by
the 2 red signal light on the front of the case.
System self-monitoring
Safety precautions have been taken in the BIF8plus to prevent the con-
trol unit from malfunctioning. In the event of a failure, a watchdog mo-
dule deactivates the activation of the switching contacts.
High protection class
The electronics are protected against water with a housing of protection
class IP65. The power supply is supplied via a short-circuit proof power
supply according to safety standard IEC 60601-1.
