MINI HYDROSANDBLASTER MOD. CTS ART 100
- INSTRUCTION MANUAL-
INTRODUCTION
A portable precision aeroabrasive instrument for site work which associates dry operating
conditions (mini sandblasting) with water while assuring the independence of the two
functions.
CTS ART 100 in fact allows for dry-only operations water-only operations and/or mixed
operations (hydrosandblasting).
The mini hydrosandblaster CTS ART 100 was designed according to European regulations
and this is therefore is a guarantee for the user. The operator however must never
abandon the most elementary safety measures which include altering the correct function
of the instrument or executing repairs. Any repairs on CTS ART 100 must be carried out
by qualified personnel only.
The MINI HYDROSANDBLASTER CTS ART 100 is composed of:
- wheeled supporting structure
- column tank for powders with refilling funnel and protective lid
- column tank for water
- pressure regulating group and precision manometer
- regulation valve for flow of abrasive material
- spray gun equipped with stop with nozzle attachments for abrasive material and a
for water with tap
- nozzle in tungsten carbide ø 3mm (fitted)
- extension nozzle with hand grip – 1 m long.

USE
1. Carefully read all sections of this manual before using the mini hydrosandblaster CTS
ART 100.
2. Position the equipment on a level plane.
3. Verify that the compressed air supply is not connected.
4. Remove the lid (3) for the abrasive material supply placed at the top of the cylinder
(1). Choose the abrasive most suitable for the type of work to be carried out with a
granulometry of >180 Mesh (88 micron). Insert the equipped funnel by pushing it
vertically within the two guides placed on the cylinder (1) then lower the load tongue
and pour in the abrasive. Fill the cylinder until the level of the load tongue. Remove
the funnel therefore repositioning the load tongue in closing position of the cylinder.
5. Remove the lid (4) for the water supply placed at the top of the cylinder (2) and fill
the tank (about 5 l). After the cylinder is full close the lid. A vent-hole is also placed
on the cylinder (2).
6. Choose the abrasive nozzle (2a) best suited to the type of work to be carried out and
insert it in the ring nut (6a) located at the end of the spray gun; if necessary use
the extension nozzle by securing it to the spray gun and at the end of it place the
nozzle (2a) tightening it to the ring nut.
7. If the safety of the worker is assured (please see the section on safety) proceed
with the following:
1. Attach the mini hydrosandblaster to the compressed air by means of the special
bayonet attachment placed on the back. For superior functionality it is
recommended to place between the compressor and the mini hydrosandblaster a
dehumidifying ceramic filter (CTS 8 and/or CTS 9) which should be placed as
close as possible to the mini hydrosandblaster.
2. Open the air in the compressor and if used in the ceramic filter.
3. Choose the type of function necessary for the work to be carried out (see
paragraph “Functions”).
4. The mini hydrosandblaster is ready to use.
5. Using the safety knob (3a) located on the spray gun it is possible to block the
trigger (4a) to work continuously.
FUNCTIONS
Dry:
The dry function provides only the use of the mini sandblasting part. To use this
function exclude the flow of air/water turning completely in a counter-clockwise direction
the water cylinder tap (8) and the air delivery tap (5a) placed on the spray gun. Then press
the trigger (4a) located on the spray gun regulating the quantity of abrasive material with
the regulation knob (9) and the working pressure through the relative pressure reducer (5)
seen on the manometer (6).
Mixed:
The mixed function allows for the use of the mini sandblasting part with the addition
of water (mini hydrosandblasting). To use this function push the trigger (4a) located
on the spray gun regulate the quantity of abrasive material with the regulation knob (9)
and the working pressure through the relative pressure reducer (5) seen on the
manometer (6). Then turn in a clockwise direction the water cylinder tap (8) and the air
delivery tap (5a) located on the pistol to obtain the mini sandblasting function.

Water only:
This function allows for only the use of water. To use this function exclude the mini
sandlbasting part of CTS ART 100 turning completely in a counter-clockwise direction the
pressure reducer (5) and closing the abrasive regulation knob (9). Then turn in a
clockwise direction the water cylinder tap (8) and the air delivery tap (5a) placed on the
spray gun.
NOZZLES AVAILABLE
In addition to the nozzle in tungsten carbide ø 3mm fixed on the spray gun the following
nozzles are also available:
• nozzle in tungsten carbide ø 2 mm;
• nozzle in tungsten carbide ø 4 mm.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE AND MAINTENANCE
• The distance between the mini sandblasting spray gun and the surface to be treated
is variable; it is the operator’s sensitivity to either widen or shorten this gap raising or
reducing the incisiveness of the instrument.
• It is important to use dry abrasive material, with a selected granulometry of
>180 Mesh (88 micron). Do not re-use abrasive material in order to avoid that
any impurities compromise the functionality of the machine.
• Do not rest heavy objects on the supply tubes for the compressed air or abrasive.
• The abrasive material used is highly hygroscopic and must be stored in dry
environments and in closed containers.
• Periodically verify the condition of the nozzle the abrasive material supply tube the
tanks and if necessary contact CTS for assistance. Never use the machine if it
shows signs of damage to any of its parts.
• It is advised that the abrasive material supply tank of the mini hydrosandblaster be
emptied at the end of each work day (carefully read the first point of the
“safety” section) and when emptied allow for air to flow through for a few seconds
to avoid the formation of incrustations.
SAFETY
• For the safety of the operator, it is important to remember, every time the
equipment undergoes maintenance, to make sure that the compressed air
supply is not connected and that there is no pressure inside the tanks.
• During cleaning operations use an appropriate aspirator; if one is not available the
worker must absolutely wear protective goggles suitable garments a protective
respiratory mask and gloves.

WARRANTY
C.T.S. guarantees the buyer to repair or by discretion to substitute whatever part which
reveals itself to be defective in relation to construction or materials within conditions of
normal use for the period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty is valid only
when the instrument has been used following the written instructions in this manual. If the
instrument at the time of repair results in having been mishandled the warranty has no
value.
C.T.S. S.r.l. accepts the parameters indicated on measurement instruments and declines
responsibility of the inaccuracy of such instruments.

SICUREZZA
• Per salvaguardare l’incolumità dell’operatore è importante ricordarsi, ogni
qualvolta si debba manutenzionare l’attrezzatura, di verificare che
l’alimentazione di aria compressa non sia collegata e che non vi sia pressione
all’interno dei serbatoi;
• Nelle operazioni di pulitura utilizzare un’aspiratore adeguato e se non se ne ha la
possibilità indossare assolutamente occhiali protettivi indumenti adeguati maschera
protettiva delle vie respiratorie e guanti.
