Chapter 2: Overview
Description of Unitized System
1. The Unitized System combines the RollSeal®sidewall curtain with an evaporative cooling cell.
•Sidewall Curtain: The sidewall curtain component can be a motorized curtain enclosure for
the side of an agriculture or horticulture structure that can regulate ventilation when connected
to an automatic controller. The chain hoist is another drive option when manual operation is
desired.
•Evaporative Cooling Cell: The evaporative cooling component is a row of evaporative cooling
pads and water that cools incoming air.
2. In the Unitized System, these components mount in front of a single opening. This gives a system
for regulating both temperature and ventilation of a building.
3. Since only one wall opening is required for each system, this increases the efficiency and lowers
operating costs.
4. The Unitized System may be divided into individual groupings. These groupings are defined by their
collective purposes: curtain, reservoir, fill line, pump kit, supply line, spray line, and pads.
5. The complete sidewall curtain assembly consists of adjacent sidewall curtain systems. Each system
frames an opening and provides a mount for supporting a drive pipe to which the curtains are
attached.
NOTE: Unitized Right End Cap, Unitized Left End Cap, Unitized Back Flashing, and Komfort Kool
Pump Assembly are NOT SHOWN in this figure. These parts must be ordered separately.

Chapter 3: Installation
Framings for System on Brackets and System on Concrete
1. Refer to the Figure 3-1, page 14 or Figure 3-2, page 15 for the framing dimensions to install the
pads.
2. Make opening in wall equal to the length and height of the pad.
3. Frame the opening with treated lumber as shown in Figure 3-3, page 16. Make sure the boards are
level and flush with the front side of the posts as shown.
NOTE:
• Use steel equivalent to frame opening if installing Unitized System to steel building.
• In-line pump location will vary depending on setup option.
Filler Boards
1. 2" x 6" and 2" x 4" filler boards (22 and 23) are necessary to secure the top flashing to the wall.
2. 2" x 8" and 2" x 6" filler boards (25 and 22) are necessary to secure the bottom flashing to the wall.
3. The bottom flashing serves as a splash-guard and fills the gap for improved air flow.
4. Two 2" x 6" filler boards (22) are necessary to secure the top brackets for sidewall curtain assembly.
NOTE: Two pads available with 4', 5' or 6' heights. Only use 6" thick pads for square bottom system.

Chapter 3: Installation
Flat Bottom Reservoir Support Brackets for End Pump Only
1. Determine the height at which the bottom of the Komfort Kool system should be mounted above the
ground. Make a mark on each end post to represent the height.
2. Stretch a chalk line between the marks on the end posts.
3. Align the bottom edge of the metal support brackets (31) with chalk line and at position at distances
as shown in Figure 3-4, page 17. Use 1/4" x 1-1/2" lag screws (5) for wood framing or #14 x 1" hex
head TEK screws (3) for metal framing.
NOTE: System on brackets is shown in Figure 3-4, page 17. The spacing for the system on concrete
is the same.

Chapter 3: Installation
Installing the Bottom Support Brackets
1. Attach the bottom support bracket (32) to the trough bracket (33) using 1/4"-20 x 1/2" hex bolts (2)
and 1/4" lock nuts (13). Do not tighten at this time.
NOTE: For a system on concrete, the concrete mount trough bracket (34) should be attached to the
concrete by drilling two 3/16" holes (35) and installing concrete tapcon screws (11) as shown
in Figure 3-6, page 19.
2. Install the bottom support brackets (32) along the entire length of the system.
3. Start to install two bottom support brackets (32) at the center of the system with ends butt together
and tighten the lock nuts (13). Continue to install the remaining bottom support brackets (32)
towards the center of the system. Make sure to butt the ends together and tighten the lock nuts (13)
for each bottom support bracket (32) installed.

Installing the Top Mounting Brackets
1. Align the center of the top mounting bracket (36) with the center of the first 4" x 4" post and position
the bracket (36) at 3-1/4" from the bottom of the 2" x 4" filler board (23) as shown in Framing Brack-
ets, page 14 and Framing concrete, page 15.
2. Secure the top mounting bracket (36) to the 2" x 6" filler boards (22) using 1/4" x 1-1/2" lag screws
(5).
3. Position the next top mounting bracket (36) at the distance as give in the table below depending on
the system being used and repeat steps 1 and 2 to install the brackets (36) to the 2" x 6" filler boards
(22).
