1 Introduction
Congratulations for choosing the Clavaestacas JC300 post driver.
1.1 Important user information
PREVIOUS REQUIREMENTS
The machine’s manual is delivered together with the motor’s manual. It is
important for both manuals must be stored together at all times in order to be able
to resolve any issues about the machine. All the motor’s instructions are
contained in the manual.
PLEASE READ THIS MANUAL carefully for information about the correct
transport, management and maintenance of the machine. Failing to do so may
derive in personal injury or equipment failures. This manual and the safety
stickers on your machine may be available in other languages (please contact
the manufacturer).
THIS MANUAL MUST BE CONSIDERED an integral part of the machine and be
delivered together with it, should it be resold.
THE MEASUREMENTS present in this manual will be expressed using the metric
system.
The RIGHT AND LEFT sides shall be established facing the machine from the
opposite side of the recoil starter.
PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF THE PRODUCT’S IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS.
The manufacturer will need these numbers for the purposes of ordering spare
parts. Store these numbers in a safe location outside the machine.
Any ELECTRICAL OR MECHANICAL manipulation of the hammer cover or
tweaks or adjustments to the machine BEYOND THOSE SPECIFIED by the
manufacturer shall render the warranty void.
Any MANIPULATION OF THE ALTERNATIVE SET that modifies the DRIVING
FREQUENCY OR THAT BROADENS the post-driving range BEYOND THE
MANUFACTURER-SPECIFIED values shall render the warranty void.
Any MANIPULATION OR MODIFICATION of any of the machine’s parts or
accessories shall render the warranty void.
The Clavaestacas JC300 may not be used in such a way, or in operations or
conditions not foreseen by the manufacturer.

BEFORE DELIVERING THIS MACHINE, the manufacturer or their authorised
representative must carry out a pre-delivery check.
Once the first 30 hours of service have elapsed, we recommend booking a post-
sales inspection with the manufacturer or their representative to ensure the
correct functioning of the machine.
THIS MACHINE IS DESIGNED EXCLUSIVELY for use as a wood or metal post
driver in terrains subject to penetration via impact, such as agricultural, forestry,
garden, beach or other terrains. However, it may also be used with posts made
from other materials, such as thermoplastics and composites, though this is
subject to consultation and acceptance by the manufacturer.
The manufacturer shall not be held accountable for any consequences or
damages derived from an incorrect use of the machine. In this case, the user
shall be held accountable for any and all risks incurred.
Similarly, a correct usage according to the machine’s characteristics implies the
strict observance of all the manufacturer’s instructions in terms of use,
maintenance and repair.
The sheathing of posts is carried out manually by two operators, from the frontal
section of the machine and with the post in a quasi-horizontal position, resting on
the ground. In order to place the post and machine in a vertical position, the post’s
lower tip must be pivoted.
This machine may ONLY BE HANDLED, maintained or repaired by individuals
who are aware of the peculiarities and risks involved, and that have been briefed
on the corresponding safety procedures (accident prevention). Accident
prevention and any other acknowledged regulations on health and safety must
be observed at all times. The manufacturer will not be held responsible for any
modifications introduced in the machine without their prior, express authorisation.
If you are not the machine’s original proprietor, you must contact the
manufacturer to communicate the unit’s serial number. This will allow the
manufacturer to notify you of any product improvement programmes.

how to use the product with safety. Please find the definitions below.

EC BRANDS
Given the machine’s characteristics, which we will be detailing more in depth, it
is not included in ANNEX IV of Royal Decree 1644/2008 of 10 October (Directive
2006/42/EC of 17 May 2006).
The harmonised standards applicable to this type of machinery have been used
for its design and manufacture.
Based on the aforementioned and given that the machine is not included in
ANNEX IV of Royal Decree 1644/2008, the procedure for compliance evaluation
the manufacturer has opted for corresponds to option a), section 3, article 12 of
R.D. 1644/2008.
EC brands and the corresponding Declaration of compliance are valid for the
machine provided:
•It is used without modifications as a unit linked to a mechanism for placing
the materials, for loading and unloading and that features the
corresponding EC brand,
•It connects to other EC branded machines, in which case the manufacturer
must be in agreement, or
•It is used in the same conditions in which it was delivered by the
manufacturer, with the exception of any modifications described in the
user documentation.
The Declaration of compliance is valid only for machines that comply with the EC
brand as per standard 2006/42/EC.
COMPATIBILITY OF THE POSTS USED
All the posts used with the machine must be in line with the dimensions and
materials specified by the machine’s manufacturer.

1.3 Post driver
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The JC300 is designed to drive posts in low to medium soil compaction by means
of a motorised percussion mechanism that generates hammers the top section
of a post. The machine operates using a manual work cycle and by manually
loading the materials.
The percussion mechanism is linked to a source of energy comprising a four-
stroke internal combustion engine and has low emission levels.
The motor is engaged by a manually operated recoil starter featuring a centrifugal
clutch.
The motor is fitted with a choke that facilitates starting a cold motor.
The post driver has an on/off switch that may be pressed using the same hand
that operates the throttle mechanism, the operator’s right hand.
Given that the motor is powered using a carburettor that may work in an inclined
position, the posts may be loaded to the machine whilst it is on.

DRIVING A POST
The install operation is carried out by placing the post in the hammer cover,
securing the machine with both hands in a vertical or slightly tilted position and
squeezing the throttle trigger with the right hand.
The motor does not need to be stopped once the post has been driven – the
centrifugal clutch allows for letting go of the percussion mechanism once the
motor is idle.
The post dimensions must be compatible with the lengths and diameters
indicated in this manual.
The depth the post must be driven at is linked to the kind of terrain, the material
the post is made of and the geometry of the post’s tip.
WORK CYCLES
The post driver operates with “manual” and “manual load” work cycles.
1.4 Control and evaluation
The control of the Clavaestacas JC300’s different safety mechanisms and
elements is carried out by visual inspection and by following the guidelines
detailed in this manual.
2 Safety instructions
This chapter details issues such as safety compliance, safety labelling, general
safety precautions, emergency procedures, power source cuts and machine
recycling.
2.1 Safety precautions
INTRODUCTION
The Clavaestacas JC300 is powered by the combustion of petrol in an alternative
motor. It is equipped with a petrol deposit and an exhaust system that conducts
and attenuates the gases produced by the combustion to minimise acoustic
impact and to distance them from the work area.

Before operating the machine or carrying out maintenance, users must be aware
of the dangers described in this manual. Please follow the instructions to avoid
personal injuries or damages to the equipment.
The safety precautions described in this section may be grouped into the
following categories:

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
Before usage, we recommend a thorough investigation into the existence of
piping pertaining to electrical installations, water, gas or other services to avoid
damages to the installations and the operators alike.
Do not use the Clavaestacas JC300 for periods of time surpassing those detailed
by the manufacturer in this manual.
Always follow these general precautions to avoid injury when using the
Clavaestacas JC300.

In closed spaces, the combustion engine emits polluting, toxic gases
that may cause dizziness, unconsciousness or even death.

The exhaust gas outlet must be free of blockages.
USE OF FUEL AND FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS
When refuelling or occasionally using flammable liquids for cleaning or
maintaining the machine, please observe these precautions to avoid the risk of
fire or explosions.

Fire hazard. Upon refuelling or when carrying
out maintenance, before starting the machine,
please make sure there are no remnants of
fluid, cloths or any other absorbent material or
element used for cleaning.

When carrying out maintenance using
flammable or harmful substances, please use
an extraction hood or a similar ventilation
system.
PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT
WARNING
Please use personal protection equipment at
all times when using the machine. Safety
goggles and gloves and anti-noise helmets
must be approved.
WARNING
Hazardous materials. When carrying out
maintenance or cleaning tasks using
hazardous chemicals, such as paint strippers,
antioxidants, etc., please take any and all
necessary precautions, such as using
protective goggles and gloves that are
resistant to the substance being used. For a
safe operation and maintenance of the
machine, please comply with all local and
national regulations.
MACHINE TRANSPORT
WARNING
Fuel. When transporting the machine, please
make sure there are no fuel leaks.
We recommend transporting the machine with
the minimum amount of fuel in the fuel tank.
WARNING
Fuel. Transport conditions of fuel in drums are
not detailed in this manual.
We recommend using approved drums and
following the regulations established for the
transport of the machine.

Transport and storage. The machine is
equipped with a box specifically designed for
its transport and storage. Always use this box
for the transport and storage of the machine.
NOTICE
Should the machine be left outdoors due to
temporary transport or storage, please use a
cover to protect it from the rain and/or
humidity.

WARNING
Post dimensions. The dimension of the
posts will depend on their material,
dimensions and working angle. Please make
sure that the post’s dimensions are
compatible with the hammer cover and the
service conditions established by the
manufacturer in this manual.

Usage. The machine must be used
exclusively with posts of a nature and
dimensions established by the manufacturer
in this manual.
WARNING
Usage. Please visually inspect the machine to
make sure it does not present any damages,
dysfunction in the controls or fuel leaks.

WARNING
Danger of electric shock. All repairs must be
carried out by personnel authorised by the
machine’s manufacturer or by duly trained
and qualified personnel. Please refrain from
opening any lids, guards or spare parts unless
specifically required to do so in the user
documentation.
WARNING
Fuel. Unless otherwise indicated in the user
documentation, please remember to always
empty the machine’s fuel engine before
replacing any component.
WARNING
Hazardous chemical products during
maintenance. When working with hazardous
degreasing materials or cleaning the machine,
please use cloths, and then clean these
elements using a neutral solution.
WARNING
Do not carry out any maintenance tasks whilst
the motor is in operation.
WARNING
Please only use manufacturer approved or
supplied spare parts that correspond to the
references present in the technical
documentation attached to this manual to
carry out machine maintenance or repair
tasks.

Degreasers such as perchloroethylene or
trichloroethylene constitute a health hazard.
Please refer to the product safety file card and
use adequate personal protection equipment
when working with degreasers.

WARNING
Once assembled, the motor’s fuel or
lubrication system must be verified at
maximum load to check that there are no fuel
or oil leaks from the motor, in order to
guarantee protection against potential injuries
resulting from pressurized oil leaks or fuel
ignitions.
WARNING
Percussion mechanism and motor. Before
starting up the machine, please make sure
that all the guards are secured into position
and that these are correctly fixed and
operational.
NOTICE
Cleaning. Please keep the machine dry and
clean at all times. The machine must be
cleaned regularly using dry cloths, and if
needed, a mild cleaning agent.
2.2 Labels

To obtain information about the motor’s label, please see the manufacturer’s
instructions, which are attached to this manual.

2.3 Emergency procedures
This section details how to carry out an emergency stop of the CLAVAESTACAS
JC300. Furthermore, this section describes the consequences of a fuel supply
failure.
EMERGENCY STOP
The CLAVAESTACAS JC300 is not fitted with a specific emergency stop button.
The on/off switch, which is located in the right handle next to the throttle trigger,
acts directly upon the electronic ignition device.
In the event of an emergency, please follow the instructions below to stop the
execution:

POWER OR FUEL SUPPLY FAILURE
Depending on the time elapsed in the service cycle, the consequences of a power
or fuel supply failure may be as follows:

Fuel supply failure
The motor’s supply shall be interrupted immediately and
indefinitely. Fuel must be added to the fuel tank. 5 minutes
must have elapsed since the interruption to replenish the
fuel. Never carry out this operation while the engine is hot.
Electrical ignition circuit failure.
Depending on the duration, the motor’s supply shall be
interrupted immediately and indefinitely. The spark plug
must be cleaned or replaced, and the presence of a spark
must be verified when pulling the recoil starter.
Air supply failure
Air is used as an oxidizer in the motor’s combustion.
Following an air supply failure, the state of the air-intake
filter must be checked.
2.4 Recycling information
The machine must be cleaned, and any fuel removed before disassembly.
Furthermore, all local regulations relating to how to dispose of the machine must
be followed.

GENERAL INSTRUCTION FOR DISPOSAL
Once the CLAVAESTACAS JC300 has ceased to work, the different materials
must be separated and recycled in line with national and local environmental
regulations.
HOW TO RECYCLE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
The CLAVAESTACAS JC300 does not contain any hazardous substances. Any
fuel and oil residues must be recycled in keeping with the instructions issued by
local regulations.
DISPOSAL OF ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
Waste from the electric ignition system must not be disposed of as unsorted
municipal waste; instead, it must be sorted separately and delivered to an
authorised waste disposal management facility. Should you have any queries,
please contact the manufacturer or an authorised representative in order to obtain
information about the disassembly of the pieces of equipment.
3 Entry into service
The CLAVAESTACAS JC300 is delivered in a box fitted with protective material
and must be carefully unpacked.
In addition to this manual, every CLAVAESTACAS JC300 is supplied with a
manual of the motor’s manufacturer, which among other things, describes the
entry into service process.
For more detailed information about the machine’s operation, please see the
motor’s manual and this operations manual. If in doubt, please contact the
manufacturer or an authorised representative.
