1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
This manual contains important instructions for Models
that should be followed during installation and maintenance of the UPS and batteries.
The product installation must be performed by engineers approved by the manufacturer (or
its agent) and must comply with local and national. Not doing so could result in personnel
safety risk, equipment malfunction, and invalidation of warranty.
WARNING:
Follow the installation manual to be performed; failure to follow these instructions may result
in death or severe injury.
WARNING:
Must disconnect all AC sources connected to the MBS product and that all Breaker in the OFF
position before installing and servicing.
WARNING:
Follow the space requirements of the product and do not cover the ventilation openings
when the product is in operation.
CAUTION:
For MBS100D5B:
To reduce the risk of fire, connect only to a circuit provided with 100A maximum branch
circuit overcurrent protection in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70
and the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, C22.1.
For MBS175D5B:
To reduce the risk of fire, connect only to a circuit provided with 175A maximum branch
circuit overcurrent protection in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70
and the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, C22.1.
NOTICE: 3-PHASE 4-WIRE INPUT POWER IS REQUIRED
The Maintenance Bypass Switch product can be connected to TN, TT AC distribution system
(IEC60364-3) of 3-phase 4-wire.
The instruction manual for a unit investigated for use in a CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT shall
indicate that the unit is intended for installation in a temperature-regulated, indoor area that
is relatively free of conductive contaminants.

6. MBS POWER CABLE SELECTION
Design the cables according to the descriptions in this section and local regulatory wiring
standards, and the environmental conditions (temperature and physical support media)
should be taken into consideration.
Read and understand the following notes while planning and performing the installation:
WARNING:
FAILURE TO FOLLOW ADEQUATE EARTHING PROCEDURES CAN RESULT IN EMI, ELECTRIC
SHOCK HAZARD, OR RISK OF FIRE, SHOULD AN EARTH FAULT OCCUR.
WARNING:
As a result of the connected loads high leakage current is possible. Connection to earth
ground is required for safety and proper product operation. Do not check UPS operation by
any action that includes removal of the earth (ground) connection with loads attached.
Refer to national and local electrical codes for acceptable external wiring practices.
• To allow for future power upgrades, recommends install the UPS using wiring and external
overcurrent protection breakers sized for fully rated UPS kW frame size instead of the
de-rated kW ordered.
Wiring for the maximum kW frame size will allow a full power rating upgrade without
having to modify the site wiring infrastructure.

6. MBS POWER CABLE SELECTION
• Material and labor for external wiring requirements are to be provided by the customer.
• For external wiring, use 75°C copper wire. If wire is run in an ambient temperature greater
than 40°C, higher temperature wire and/or larger size wire may be necessary.
• Wire ampacities are chosen from Table 310-16 of the National Electrical Code® (NEC). The
specification is for copper wire with a 75°C rating.
• Refer to NEC Article 250 and local codes for proper grounding practices.
• Supported single-feed or dual-feed power source:
- 3P+N+PE Wye (TT, TN) – Rectifier Input
- 3P+N+PE Wye (TT, TN) – Bypass Input
