sources of high temperature, dust or humidity. Never stand
the amplier under another unit or on any surface likely to
hamper its cooling or venlaon.
Speaker detection
The Stereo 200 automacally measures the impedance of
your speakers and adjusts its performance accordingly. The
process takes a few seconds and only takes place on the rst
occasion that the amplier is switched on aer connecon
to the mains.
NOTE: A faint noise may be heard through the speakers

Placement
When installing a Stereo 200 amplier, choose a posion
where there is at least 3cm clearance from the sides and
top of the amplier to allow cooling air to circulate. Never
stand the amplier on a so or carpeted surface or install
the amplier in an enclosed space or cabinet where cool air
cannot enter.
Connecting to the AC Mains Supply
To ensure your Stereo 200 power amplier meets with
the requirements of the EMC direcve(s), t the supplied
ferrite clamp. The hinged clamp folds around the mains
lead and will lock together once you rmly close the shaped
channels.
Connecting a Pre-Amplier, Streamer or
DAC
NOTE: When connecng a streamer or DAC to a Stereo
200, ensure that it includes a volume control and use the
‘variable’ or ‘preamp’ output.
Phono (RCA) dand Balanced input connectors b/e are
available to link the Stereo 200 to a pre-amplier, streamer
or D/A converter etc.
If your amplier is a long distance from the pre-amplier/
DAC, or beside a loudspeaker, then balanced XLR connecons
b/e may give improved performance.
Connecting via phono (RCA) interconnects
Connect a stereo phono interconnect from the output of
the preamplier to the le and right inputs d of the Stereo
200. Be sure to observe colour coding of the plugs to keep
le and right channels correctly ordered.
Connecting using Balanced XLR cables
Connect a 3-pin XLR cable from the balanced outputs of the
preamplier to the le eand right b balanced inputs of the
Stereo 200.
Note. Fit the lter 20mm from the IEC plug as shown.
Connect the socket on the AC Power cable to the Power
inlet i on the rear panel of the amplier. Now connect the
cable to a suitable AC power point.
The mains plug is the disconnect device for this product.
Ensure that the mains plug is always readily accessible.

Connecting Loudspeakers
Choice of speaker cables
When choosing speaker cables, avoid litz-wound cables with
a complex ‘plaited wire’ construcon. These cables can be
highly reacve and may degrade the sound of your amplier.
Always choose a cable of simple construcon, manufactured
from high quality materials and priced sensibly within the
cabling budget of your system.
If in doubt about the correct cable to choose, any Cyrus
retailer will be able to advise.
CAUTION: The speaker outlets are only suitable for
connecon directly to speakers. Never connect any switch-
box or other device to the speaker outlets.
Speaker cable polarity
Speaker cables will always include polarising marks such as a
rib or stripe to indicate the ‘+’ wire and red/black ideners
on the terminals. Ensure you connect the red terminal/
striped cable to the + terminals.
Cable termination
Speaker cables for use with the Stereo 200 may be terminated
with spade tags, 4mm plugs or bare wire ends.
Of these choices, 4mm plugs are the most convenient to
connect/disconnect and are easiest to t to most cables.
Spade tags will give the best quality connecon. Bare wire
ends may be used, but very thin or highly stranded cables
may be beer with plug or spade terminaon to protect the
fragile cable end.

Chain Output
Bi-Amplication
If your pre-amplier only has a single set of pre outputs,
the Chain output c can be used to connect addional Cyrus
power ampliers to each channel for Bi/Tri-amping. Such
a bi-amplied system provides the sonic benets of totally
separate power amplicaon for the bass and treble units
of the loudspeakers.
Note: To set up bi-amplicaon, the loudspeakers must
have bi-wirable terminals to enable separate connecon to
the bass and treble units.
In the bi-amplied system illustraon below, a preamplier
is connected to two Stereo 200 ampliers, one to drive the
speaker bass (LF) units, and one to drive the treble (HF)
units. Phono input connecons are shown.
Note: The Chain output is operaonal whether phono (RCA)
or Balanced XLR input connecon is made to the Stereo
200.
