Router DIR-806A with defau t settings cannot connect to the Internet.
To get started, p ease set your own password for access to the web-
based interface and change the WLAN name (SSID); then, if needed,
configure other settings recommended by your ISP.

System Requirements and Equipment
•A computer with any operating system that supports a web browser.
•A web browser to access the web-based interface of the router:
◦App e Safari 8 and ater
◦Goog e Chrome 48 and ater
◦Microsoft Internet Exp orer 10 and ater
◦Microsoft Edge 20.10240 and ater
◦Mozi a Firefox 44 and ater
◦Opera 35 and ater.
•A NIC (Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapter) to connect to the router.
•An 802.11a, b, g, n or ac Wi-Fi adapter to create a wire ess network.

CONNECTING TO C
PC with Ethernet Adapter
1. Make sure that your PC is powered off.
2. Connect an Ethernet cab e between any of LAN ports ocated on the back
pane of the router and the Ethernet port of your PC.
3. Connect the power cord to the power connector port on the back pane of
the router, then p ug the power adapter into an e ectrica out et or power
strip.
4. Turn on the router by pressing the ON/OFF button on its back pane .
5. Turn on your PC and wait unti your operating system is comp ete y
oaded.
Now you shou d configure your PC to obtain an IP address automatica y (as
DHCP c ient).

Obtaining P Address Automatically
in OS Windows XP
1. C ick the Start button and proceed to the Control anel > Network
and Internet Connections > Network Connections window.
2. In the Network Connections window, right-c ick the re evant Local
Area Connection icon and se ect the roperties ine in the menu
disp ayed.
3. In the Local Area Connection roperties window, on the General
tab, se ect the Internet rotocol (TC /I ) ine. C ick the roperties
button.

4. Se ect the Obtain an I address automatically and Obtain DNS
server address automatically radio buttons. C ick the OK button.
5. C ick the ОК button in the connection properties window.
Now your computer is configured to obtain an IP address automatica y.

Obtaining P Address Automatically
in OS Windows 7
1. C ick the Start button and proceed to the Control anel window.
2. Se ect the Network and Sharing Center section. (If the Contro Pane
has the category view (the Category va ue is se ected from the View by
drop-down ist in the top right corner of the window), choose the View
network status and tasks ine under the Network and Internet
section.)
3. In the menu ocated on the eft part of the window, se ect the Change
adapter settings ine.
4. In the opened window, right-c ick the re evant Local Area Connection
icon and se ect the roperties ine in the menu disp ayed.
5. In the Local Area Connection roperties window, on the
Networking tab, se ect the Internet rotocol Version 4 (TC /I v4)
ine. C ick the roperties button.

6. Se ect the Obtain an I address automatically and Obtain DNS
server address automatically radio buttons. C ick the OK button.
7. C ick the OK button in the connection properties window.
Now your computer is configured to obtain an IP address automatica y.

PC with Wi-Fi Adapter
1. Connect the power cord to the power connector port on the back pane of
the router, then p ug the power adapter into an e ectrica out et or power
strip.
2. Turn on the router by pressing the ON/OFF button on its back pane .
3. Turn on your PC and wait unti your operating system is comp ete y
oaded.
4. Turn on your Wi-Fi adapter. As a ru e, modern notebooks with bui t-in
wire ess NICs are equipped with a button or switch that turns on/off the
wire ess adapter (refer to your PC documents). If your PC is equipped
with a p uggab e wire ess NIC, insta the software provided with your
Wi-Fi adapter.
Now you shou d configure your Wi-Fi adapter.

Configuring Wi-Fi Adapter in OS Windows XP
1. C ick the Start button and proceed to the Control anel > Network
and Internet Connections > Network Connections window.
2. Se ect the icon of the wire ess network connection and make sure that
your Wi-Fi adapter is on.
3. Search for avai ab e wire ess networks.
4. In the opened Wireless Network Connection window, se ect the
wire ess network DIR-806A (for operating in the 2.4GHz band) or
DIR-806A-5G (for operating in the 5GHz band) and c ick the Connect
button.
5. In the opened window, enter the network key (see WPS PIN on the
barcode abe on the bottom pane of the device) in the Network key and
Confirm network key fie ds and c ick the Connect button.
After that the Wireless Network Connection Status window appears.

If you perform initia configuration of the router via Wi-Fi connection,
note that immediate y after changing the wire ess defau t settings of the
router you wi need to reconfigure the wire ess connection using the
new y specified settings.

Configuring Wi-Fi Adapter in OS Windows 7
1. C ick the Start button and proceed to the Control anel window.

wire ess network connection and c ick the Connect To button or eft-
c ick the network icon in the notification area ocated on the right side of
the taskbar.

6. In the opened window, in the ist of avai ab e wire ess networks, se ect the
wire ess network DIR-806A (for operating in the 2.4GHz band) or
DIR-806A-5G (for operating in the 5GHz band) and c ick the Connect
button.
7. In the opened window, enter the network key (see WPS PIN on the
barcode abe on the bottom pane of the device) in the Security key
fie d and c ick the OK button.
8. Wait for about 20-30 seconds. After the connection is estab ished, the
network icon wi be disp ayed as the signa eve sca e.

CONFIGURING ROUTER
Connecting to Web-based nterface
Start a web browser. In the address bar of the web browser, enter the IP
address of the router (by defau t, the fo owing IP address is specified:
192.168.0.1). Press the Enter key.

If the error “ The page cannot be displayed ” (or “ Unable to display the
page ”/“ Could not connect to remote server ”) occurs upon connecting to
the web-based interface of the router, make sure that you have proper y
connected the router to your computer.
If the device has not been configured previous y or the defau t settings have
been restored, after access to the web-based interface the Initia Configuration
Wizard opens (see the Initial Configuration Wizard section, page 18).

If you configured the device previous y, after access to the web-based interface
the ogin page opens. Enter the username (admin) in the Username fie d
and the password you specified in the assword fie d, then c ick the LOGIN
button.
The web-based interface of the router is bi ingua (Eng ish/Russian). You can
se ect the needed anguage upon the initia configuration of the web-based
interface of the router or in the System / Configuration section of the
menu.

The Summary page disp ays genera information on the router and its
software.

The Home page disp ays inks to the most frequent y used pages with device's
settings.
Other settings of the router are avai ab e in the menu in the eft part of the
page. Go to the re evant section and se ect the needed page or run the wizard
in the Initial Configuration section.

nitial Configuration Wizard
In order to start the Initia Configuration Wizard manua y, go to the Initial
Configuration section.
C ick the OK button and wait unti the factory defau t settings are restored.
Then c ick the START button again.
If the device has not been configured previous y or the defau t settings have
been restored, the Initia Configuration Wizard starts automatica y upon
access to the web-based interface or upon opening a web site on the Internet.
1. C ick YES in order to eave the current anguage of the web-based
interface or c ick NO to se ect the other anguage.
2. On the next page, c ick the CONTINUE button.

Selecting Operation Mode
In order to connect your device to a wired ISP, on the Device mode page,
from the Connection method ist, se ect the Wired connection va ue.
Then from the Work mode ist se ect the Router va ue. In this mode you can
configure a WAN connection, set your own settings for the wire ess network in
the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, configure LAN ports to connect an STB or VoIP
phone, and set your own password for access to the web-based interface of the
device.
In order to connect your device to a wire ess ISP (WISP), on the Device
mode page, from the Connection method ist, se ect the Wi-Fi va ue.
Then from the Work mode ist se ect the WIS Repeater va ue. In this
mode you can connect your device to another access point, configure a WAN
connection, set your own settings for the wire ess network in the 2.4GHz and
5GHz bands, configure LAN ports to connect an STB or VoIP phone, and set
your own password for access to the web-based interface of the device.
In order to connect your device to a wired router for adding a wire ess network
to the existing oca network, on the Device mode page, from the
Connection method ist, se ect the Wired connection va ue. Then from
the Work mode ist se ect the Access point va ue. In this mode you can
change the LAN IP address, set your own settings for the wire ess network in
the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and set your own password for access to the web-
based interface of the device.

In order to connect your device to a wire ess router for extending the range of
the existing wire ess network, on the Device mode page, from the
Connection method ist, se ect the Wi-Fi va ue. Then from the Work
mode ist se ect the Repeater va ue. In this mode you can change the LAN
IP address, connect your device to another access point, set your own settings
for the wire ess network in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and set your own
password for access to the web-based interface of the device.
In order to et wired PCs connected to your device access the network of a
wire ess router, on the Device mode page, from the Connection method
ist, se ect the Wi-Fi va ue. Then from the Work mode ist se ect the Client
va ue. In this mode you can change the LAN IP address, connect your device
to another access point and set your own password for access to the web-based
interface of the device.
When the operation mode is se ected, c ick the NEXT button.
