Tools and Materials Required
The following items are not provided with the kit and are required for proper installation:
Introduction
This kit contains the materials necessary to convert a DHW series
hood to a recirculating configuration in instances where exhausting
the hood outside the building is not practical or desired. The kit
consists of a top cap and charcoal filter(s). When installed, the top
cap redirects air flow out the vents in the sides of the hood chimney
assembly. The provided charcoal filter(s) are installed underneath
the baffle type filters included with the hood. The charcoal filter(s)
reduce smoke and fumes before the hood exhaust is vented into the
room.
• Sheet metal screws (suitable for attaching
duct work)
• Duct tape
• Drill with 1/16” drill bit
• Tin snips
• Piece of 8-inch diameter, round metal duct, 24 3/4
inches long (use only solid metal duct)

STEP 1 Make sure power to the circuit that supplies power to the hood is turned off.
STEP 2 Install the duct collar or exhaust cowling on the top of the hood assembly as shown,
using the screws included with the hood.
STEP 3 Install the hood on the wall according to the installation instructions included with
the hood.
STEP 4 Install the chimney mounting bracket according to the hood installation instructions.
STEP 5 Wire the hood according to the hood
installation instructions.
STEP 6 Measure the distance between the top
of the hood and the ceiling, where the
chimney mounting bracket is installed.
STEP 7 Determine the required duct length by
subtracting the number from the table
below from the distance measured in
step 6.

STEP 8 Using tin snips, cut the 8-inch round duct
to the length determined in step 7.

STEP 9 Using sheet metal screws and duct tape,
attach the end of the duct length cut in
step 8 to the collar/cowling on the top of the
hood. Use a level to make sure the duct is
vertical. Drill pilot holes as necessary for the
sheet metal screws.
STEP 10 Attach the top cap to the top of the duct in-
stalled in step 9.

STEP 11 Install the hood chimney according to the
Final Chimney Assembly section of the
hood installation instructions.

STEP 12 Remove the bafe type lter(s) from
the hood. To remove, hold the bafe
in place with one hand, while pull-
ing down on the release lever. As
you pull back on the lever, lower the
bafe down and out of the hood.
STEP 13 Remove the protective plastic from
the charcoal lter(s) included with
the kit.
STEP 14 Insert the charcoal lter(s) into the opening the bafe(s) where removed from in step
12. The hood is designed to allow for both the charcoal lter and the bafe lter to t
inside the hood at the same time. When you insert the charcoal lter, make sure the
removal tab is toward the front, on the bottom. See diagram below.
STEP 15 Reinstall the bafe lter(s).
