1.
Introduction
The Bou-Matic®2000V is a vacuum-operated model of the
Bou-Matic®lineofDetachers.Maximumperformancedepends
on proper installation, operation, and maintenance. Careful
attention to the instructions presented here will help users get
the most out of their Detachers.

Requirements
1. Power and Vacuum Requirements
ASystem2000® PowerSupplyandmilkingsystemvacuum
are required. The vacuum valve is connected to the
pulsationline.Noadditionalvacuumisrequiredtooperate
thedetacher sincethe systemvacuum isonly usedduring
the retract cycle after the milk valve is shut and vacuum
is no longer needed for milking.
CAUTION:
Do not attach any other electrical equipment to the circuit
which is connected to the power supply.
2. Washing
Due to the use of the full-flow sensor, clean-in-place
washing is required. In stall a wash line and a Bou-Matic®
Jetter Washer for each detacher.

Operation
1. Start Up
Besuresufficientvacuumissupplied. Itmaybenecessary
to shut off the milk hoses manually to build up system
vacuum (since vacuum is needed to close the valve).
2. Milking
Leave the System 2000® Power Supply ON all the time to
keepelectroniccomponentswarmanddry.Theelectronics
in the detachers change to a stand-by mode (lights glow
dimly) after a period of inactivity and will reactivate when
the ‘’ATTACH’’ button is pressed.
Automatic Mode
The detacher is in the automatic mode when the ‘’Manual’’
light is OFF. Merely press ‘ATTACH’, pull out the claw
retract cord and attach the milking unit to the cow. When
the milking is complete (based on the end-of-milk delay
selected), the unit will close the milk valve and retract the
cord.If the cordwith drawstoo fast, tightenthe hoseclamp
as outlined in Section 6.2.
Manual Mode
Press the manual/auto button until the manual light is ON.

Adjustments
1. Take off settings: 2000V Detachers are set for a 5-second
end-of-milkdelayatthefactory.Othersettingsareavailable.
Contact your Bou-Matic®dealer to have settings changed.
2. Cylinderretractspeed:Ahoseclampisincludedwhichcan
be used to restrict the vacuum line to the cylinder. If the
cord retracts too fast with an unrestricted hose, tighten it
one (1) turn and and retest. (See Figure 2.)
.IMPORTANT:
Tightening the hose clamp on the vacuum line will also
restrict the rate at which the cord can be pulled out.

Maintenance
1. Rubber Hose To increase hose life, reposition hose in
shutoff valve every 500 hours of system operation or
monthly. To do this cut one (1) inch off the flow sensor end
ofthehoseorturn the hoseendforend.Thiswill reposition
the section of the hose that is clamped by the valve.
CAUTION:
Be sure there are no severe bends in the hoses that could
cause the tubes to collapse when vacuum is applied.
2. Cylinder and Cord At regular intervals or at least yearly,
clean and inspect the piston seal in the cylinders. To do
this,removethelowercap,removepiston, clean,regrease
and reassemble. Regrease with Petroleum Jelly. If cup
seal is worn or cut, replace it. If the nylon cord is worn or
frayed, replace it.
3. Flow Sensors Every 1500 hours of operation, clean the
inside of the flow sensors by brushing with an inflation
brush and pipeline detergent. Reassemble and wash the
entire system using an acid rinse consistent with general
pipeline washing procedures.
