1. Introduction
The UVC-FRM01 board receives digital or analog signals selected from HD-SDI (high-definiti
on serial digital interface), NTSC (National Television System(s) Committee), and PAL (Phase Alt
ernation Line) signals, and converts video data to UVC. Processed and transmitted with the (U
SB Video Class) function. UVC automatically recognizes cameras connected to the board and
can be used without additional driver settings.
All of these controls are controlled by FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array).

2. UVC-FRM01 Function
2.1 Board Block Diagram
As shown in [Figure 2-1], in the case of UVC-FRM01, the overall control is in charge of
FPGA Core Logic. Its main function is to receive video signals such as HD-SDI (high-definition
serial digital interface), NTSC (National Television System(s) Committee), and PAL (Phase
Alternation Line) through the external I/O connector to receive UVC (USB Video). Class) again
to the external connector. These functions can be performed immediately without using a
separate API.
The external I/O connector uses 51-pin Hirose DF9-51S-1V_SOCKET, and refer to Section
3.3.4 for detailed signal specifications.

3. UVC-FRM01 Description
3.1 UVC-FRM01 Layout

There are 6 important LEDs on the board, and the description of each is as follows.
D2: Lights according to the setting of Analog(On), HD-SDI(Off).
D4: Lights up to confirm the Video Hsync (Horizontal Synchronization) input.
D5: Lights up to confirm the Video Vsync (Vertical Synchronization) input.
D3: Lights when the FPGA operation is normal.
D11: Lights up when the board is configured and ready for operation.
D13: Lights when 3.3V power is supplied.

3.2 Components
Briefly describes the functions of each board. Please refer to the parts specifications for
detailed functions.
(1) FPGA : U8
All functions of the board are controlled through this FPGA Logic.
(2) UVC : U3
It provides USB Video Class.
(3) Regulator : U8, U10, U11, U12
It supplies various powers (1.8V, 3.3V, etc.) used by the board.
(4) Oscillator : Y1, Y2, Y3
It supplies various clocks used by the board.
(5) Relay : U2
PAL, HD-SDI Selection
(6) Video Decoder : U4
It processes analog signals such as PAL, NTSC, and SECAM.
(7) SDI Deserializer : U5, U6
It processes HD-SDI digital signals.

3.3 Connector Pin-out
The following describes the connector used in UVC-FRM01.
3.3.1 CN1 Connector
This is an external HD-SDI signal line connector.
3.3.2 J1 Connector
It is a 5V external DC power connector.
3.3.3 J4 Connecter
J4 is a JTAG (Joint Test Action Group) connector that is used to update the FPGA
program of the board. It is not normally used when operating the board.
3.3.4 J6 Connecter
The figure below shows the pin map of the external input/output J5 connector of the
board.

4. Inatallation
4.1 Check the Contents

4.2 Installation Verification
UVC (USB Video Class) is automatically recognized by O.S without the need to install a
separate driver. Check if My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager screen,
Imaging Device -> “UVC-FRM01 Frame Grabber” is installed. If it appears as shown in
[Figure 4-1], the installation has been completed normally. (Check the red circle)

5. Sample Program
A sample program is provided on the CDROM provided with the board so that the board can
be used easily. The executable file is FrameTest.exe.

(1) “Device” Selection
CAM 1 ~ 3 can be selected. Cam 1 is set by default.
(2) “Mode”Selection
PAL, NTSC and HD-SDI can be selected. Currently, HD-SDI supports 1280x720
resolution.

(3) “Go” button
Show the video captured by CAM.
If you want to change the image image, you can select and apply Filter,
brightness, and contrast.
To switch to full screen mode, press "f" on the image screen.
To close the image screen, enter "Esc" in the image screen.
(4) “Filter” Selection
Turns Gaussian filter application on/off.
(5) “Brightness”Selection
You can adjust the brightness in 40 steps from -20 to 20.
(6) “Contrast”button
You can adjust the contrast in 40 steps from -20 to 20.
