1. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 Introduction
SPT100 is a powerful HD IP Camera, ideal for applications requiring fine detail and high-
resolution images. In addition to crystal-clear video, the SPT100 incorporates a proprietary
silent Pan-Tilt mechanism that expands the overall camera viewing area, for enhanced coverage
of critical surveillance situations.
Delivering super-clear 720p30 H.264 video at bit-rates as low as 1.5Mbs, the SPT100 is
comparable in cost to today's fixed IP cameras, with the added convenience of remote
positioning control. Other benefits of this unique, low-cost device include low power, low
maintenance, accurate position control, small size, and noiseless operation. SPT100 is perfect
for large, high-traffic areas such as airports, casinos, retail, front-lobby, and passport control, as
well as personal home use for entry inspection and remote home monitoring.
Its PoE--Power over Ethernet--capability lets you easily install the camera in locations that do
not have nearby power outlets. With its built-in web pages, the SPT100 enables viewing, access,
and camera control via local area networks as well as any Internet connection. Enhanced motion
detection, alarm notification, and privacy masking help eliminate false alarms and ensure
efficient, highly reliable monitoring and recording.
Figure 1. SPT100 external view
The SPT100 features best-in-class video quality and performance with dual H.264 live video
streams or simultaneous H.264 streams. This robustness enables local viewing and storage of
720p30 H.264 video, while simultaneously streaming lower resolution for remote viewing from
a mobile phone or low-bandwidth connections. Two-way audio is available as an option.
Access to the SPT100 camera can be offered though a simple web browser, or for multiple units
management is supported through the Darim VideoSpider Console. The VideoSpider security
management system offers connectivity to an unlimited number of cameras, video servers,
storage servers, and control rooms. Connections between system components are organized over
IP LANs, WANs, and the Internet, allowing the system to be distributed world-widely.

5
PSIA standard conformance allows the camera to be compatible with the leading industry CMS,
like Milestone XProtect™ and many others.

2.1 Installing camera
The SPT100 camera can be installed using one of the following variants:
·Desk mount type
·Ceiling mount type
Figure 2. SPT100 mounting types
Important notes: Depending on the selected mounting type, refer to subsection 3.3 of this
document describing the Flip option of the SPT100 settings.
2.2 Power and network connection
SPT100 has a standard 10/100Base-T Ethernet adapter accessible via RJ45 connector. As RJ45
connector is also used for PoE (Power-over-Ethernet), at first connect the network cable. Then
check the green led at RJ45 female connector, if it is highlighted, it will mean that PoE works
and you are done with connection. Otherwise, you should connect the external power supply
12V 1A to the terminal power connector. The polarity of the camera is shown in Figure 3.

3. WEB INTERFACE
SPT100 has a built-in web server. The whole configuration can be done using Internet browser
application. No other special software is required. All parameters on the configuration pages are
stored in Non-Volatile RAM (FLASH), so turning off the power will not reset them. New
parameters will be stored by clicking the [Apply] button with verification that all parameters are
valid. The grayed values are read only and can’t be changed by user.
The web interface is very general and works with any operating system and browser application,
excepting the video plug-in, which works only with Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or
higher.
3.1 Accessing the device for the first time
The factory default settings of the unit are the IP address 192.168.1.232 (Subnet mask
255.255.255.0) and user name - admin (with empty password).
Visit the Darim FTP server for downloading the DeviceFinder application:
ftp://ftp.darim.com/pub/spt100/DeviceFinder.exe. The DeviceFinder from Darim is a very
useful software tool searching for the SPT100 cameras and other Darim’s network device in
LAN. It detects online status as well as IP address, MAC address of the devices.
The Devices Locator application window is shown in Figure 4. It works under OS Windows XP,
Windows 7 32, 64 bit.
Press the [Refresh] button for analyzing devices in the network. All found devices will be
displayed in the Detected devices section. This dialog allows selecting a required device in the
list and opening it in the browser application specified as a default one at the computer (use the
[Open in browser] button). You can also copy IP and MAC addresses of a device with the help
of the corresponding buttons [Copy IP] and [Copy MAC] for later usage.

Figure 4. Darim Vision Devices Locator
To access SPT100 web pages for the first time, your PC must be on the same network subnet.
Even though the Devices Locator application detects the SPT100 camera, the [Open in
browser] button may not work. The reason is that your PC uses different IP address/subnet
mask range from the SPT100 camera. You can fix it using the following general rules:
-The first three digits of IP addresses for both SPT100 and PC should be equal, for
example 192.168.1.xx
-The last digit of IP addresses should be different for SPT100 and PC and should form the
unique IP address in the network, e.g. SPT100 - 192.168.1.232 and PC - 192.168.1.2.
-In order to guarantee that these addresses are unique, use the direct PC to SPC100 cable
connection for the first time configuration.
-All four digits of the subnet mask for both SPT100 and PC should be equal, for example
255.255.255.0.
Important notes: There is the way to temporary change IP address and network mask of
PC you are connecting from. Be sure to write down or remember the current network
configuration! These settings will be required right after the SPT100 network setup.

displaying. It will take some time for the ActiveX installation process to complete.
In case of successful camera connection, you can change the settings using the Network page
(see Figure 9) to the proper ones - compatible with the given LAN. You can use static IP or
DHCP depending on your router configuration. The static IP is preferable to use and all you
need is a free static IP address for assignment. In case of DHCP you will probably need
additional router configuration to remember one exact IP Address for a required SPT100 unit.
Otherwise it may unexpectedly be changed after lease has expired or the device has powered off.
Specify the original IP address settings for the Windows machine. In case of the direct cable
connection between PC and SPT100, it’s time to bring the settings of both devices to LAN.
