Introduction
The RK series consists of IP network cameras with H264 /
H265 compression and with video resolution from 2MP
(1080P) up to 4K. These are "Naked" cameras that are
equipped with essential hardware for those who manage
the system through an NVR.
The units connect to a LAN via the RJ45 port such as a
computer or other network drive and images can be viewed on a PC
using the Internet Explorer browser.
The power supply is possible with 12VDC adapters (not supplied) or
through the same network cable thanks to the Power over Ethernet
(POE) technology supported by all the cameras in the range.
The RK Series cameras fully support the international ONVIF protocol and are compatible with
any IP recording software or multi-protocol
network video recorder (NVR) capable of handling
this standard.
DSE is one of the few Italian companies to be a
member of the Onvif association and guarantees
full compliance of its products with the most
up-to-date standard.

Installation
CONNECTIONS
All RK series cameras have only 2 connections: a mains socket and a 12VDC power plug,
RJ45 NETWORK PORT - RJ45 FEMALE connector to connect the LAN network. To connect to
a HUB or network switch use a normal LAN cable. To connect only one PC directly, use a
crossover cable.
POE POWER - The cameras support 802.3af POE power through the network cable. To use
this form of power, you must have switches with POE ports capable of supplying power.
Alternatively, external POE injectors can be used. If the POE power supply is used, the 12VDC
plug opposite must not be used.
12VDC - Plug to connect the 220VAC / 12VDC power supply (not included) if you do not want
to power the camera in POE through the network cable. Connect a 12VDC power supply of at
least 1A.
All RK cameras can be used outdoors and for this reason they have a waterproof and gasketed
watertight network connector that must be assembled as shown in the figure. Note that the
watertight connector is present as an additional protection, but it is always advisable to protect
the connections from the elements inside junction boxes or by purchasing the appropriate
watertight boxes for connections to be installed between the camera and the wall.

CONNECTION AND CHECK NETWORK CONNECTION
Connect ONLY ONE CAMERA AT A TIME to the network, as having the same fixed base address
would conflict. Only after configuring the IP address of the first camera will it be possible to
connect another one.
After connecting the network cable, it is a good idea to check that the LEDs on the switch near the
network port are flashing, to confirm a good data connection is in progress.
MANUAL LENS ADJUSTMENT
The smaller models in this range are equipped with a fixed,
non-adjustable lens. In these models the lens is factory
adjusted and does not need to be focused.
The larger models, with IR over 20 m., Are equipped with
an adjustable lens. In these models there are 2 external
adjustment screws. It is necessary to operate, with the
supplied wrench, first on the ZOOM screw to adjust the angle of view and then on the FOCUS
screw to finely adjust the focus. These adjustments must be made by observing the image on
the screen. Take the time to get the perfect fit as this will have a crucial effect on the
effectiveness of the system.
MOTORIZED ZOOM LENS ADJUSTMENT
The models with motorized lens (Ref. ---- Z) allow you to
adjust the zoom by acting directly via the network by
connecting with the Internet Explorer browser or our APP,
or via the NVR. You operate the PTZ CONTROLS to set the
desired zoom. The focus is automatic.
ASSEMBLY OF CYLINDRICAL CAMERAS
The cylindrical cameras are equipped with an integrated

bracket for wall mounting, specially made to allow the passage of cables inside it and protect
them from tampering attempts. The camera is usually mounted at the cable outlet so that no
cables are left bare. However, the fixing base also has a lateral cable outlet slot if the cables come
from the side in an external conduit.
The bracket must be fixed to the wall or ceiling with the supplied plugs. On the back of the way
bracket is an insulating foam pad whose function is to eliminate the space for the penetration of
insects.
With the Allen key supplied, loosen the retaining screw B and then orient the camera thanks to
the joint A. At the end, fully tighten the retaining screw B to lock the camera in its position
ASSEMBLY OF SPHERICAL CAMERAS
The spherical cameras consist of the camera globe and the fixing
base which are screwed together. Before proceeding with the
assembly, the fixing base must be unscrewed, separating it from
the camera body. In general, no tools are needed to unscrew the
fixing base from the camera body, however if this is tightened too
deeply, it is possible to help.placing a rigid rod, such as a
screwdriver, between the two lateral cable outlet slots located in
the base.
The fixing base, separated from the camera, is fixed to the wall or
to the wall with plugs in correspondence with the cable outlet hole and then the camera body is
screwed onto it. Before tightening fully, orient the viewing angle correctly.
CONNECTION BOXES
For both cylindrical and spherical models, watertight boxes are available separately to house the
connections, to be mounted between the wall and the bracket. The boxes have a rear or side
cable entry (watertight cable gland included) and have the fixing holes for the different models on
the cover.

AVOID OBJECTS NEAR THE CAMERA
When positioning the camera, it is necessary to prevent nearby objects from entering the
shooting field, for example edges, leaves etc. because at night they would be strongly illuminated
by the IR illuminator causing a strong darkening of the image. For the same reason, the wall near
the camera should not fit into the frame.
Orient the camera so that it has a nice open view in front of you.

Network configuration
After supplying power to the camera via a 12VDC power supply or via POE and after
connecting the network, it is necessary to configure the network parameters in order to make
the cameras accessible from a computer. The cameras are supplied with a fixed factory
address 192.168.1.168
IPCSEARCH SOFTWARE
The IPCSearch software is included in the CD supplied with the camera and can be installed
on any PC on the network. The function of this software is to detect the presence of the
camera on the network, whatever its address, and allow you to change the camera address
to be consistent with your network. In fact, remember that for the camera to be visible to the
other PCs on the network, the first 3 parts of the IP address must be the same as the other
PCs on the network and the subnet mask must also be the same. It is advisable to connect
one camera to the network at a time and insert new ones only after having configured the
previous ones.
PRELIMINARY CHECKS
Before proceeding, you need to get some information from your network administrator
about the IP address management used in your network. It is necessary to know an IP
address that can be assigned to the camera that is not the same as any other device already
present on the network. If you are unsure about how your network works, you can use some
commands in the DOS PROMPT.
On a network PC, launch a DOS window available in the windows accessory programs.
Type IPCONFIG at the command prompt and press ENTER. The TCP / IP parameters will
appear. The second line is the IP address assigned to your computer.

INSTALLATION MANUAL
RK SERIES - IP NETWORK CAMERAS
Page:10
DSE SRL - ITALY - WWW.DSE.EU
In the example above, the address of the PC you are working on is 192.168.2.3 and the
subnet mask used is the classic 255.255.255.0. You can therefore assign an address of your
choice to the camera, such as 192.168.2.XXX, where XXX stands for a number between 0
and 255.
It is important to choose an address that is not already used by other network equipment.
To verify that the chosen address is free, try to perform a PING from the same DOS window
by typing PING followed by a space and the IP you wish to assign to the camera. If there is
no device corresponding to that address, you will receive 4 REQUEST TIME OUT as in the
following example:
All cameras support automatic IP address assignment by a DHCP server. However, this mode
is not recommended as in case of network failure or equipment restart it is possible that the
cameras change IP address making it necessary to reconfigure the NVR.

USING IPCSEARCH TO ASSIGN THE IP ADDRESS
All RK series cameras are preset with the factory IP address: 192.168.1.168
After connecting the camera, you need to change the camera address to assign one consistent
with your network (first 3 parts of the address common to all equipment on the network).
Proceed as follows:
1. Insert the CD into a PC drive and explore the content. You will find a folder called IPCSEARCH
with a program inside. Install the program on a network computer and run it. If you have lost
the CD, you can download the program from our website.
2. The program searches for all DSE RK series devices present on the network. Wait for the
search to complete. IPCSEARCH is also able to detect cameras with an address class
different from that of the PC on which it is operating.
3. At the end of the search, the list of detected cameras will appear. If the camera has not been
detected, check the functionality of the network connections. The current IP address of the
camera appears in the IP ADDRESS column. Click on the camera and you will see all the
other network parameters appear in the section on the right.

4. Of particular importance are the IP address (IP ADDRESS) which must have the same class
of the network (first three groups of equal digits) and the SUBNET MASK which must be the
same as the one used by the network (generally 255.255.255.0). The gateway is the
address of the router, usually number 1 on the network. The DNS is important for the
camera to recognize websites by name and can, for example, send emails. If you don't know
your Internet provider's DNS you can enter Google's DNS: 8.8.8.8. You can edit the network
parameters at will by writing in the boxes. Do not forget to also enter the access credentials
of the camera (admin / admin by default)
5. Press MODIFY to transfer the new configuration to the camera. Wait at least one minute and
in any case until, by pressing the SEARCH button, the camera is not detected with the new
address.

Access with browser
Once the network parameters have been set correctly, it is possible to access the camera for the
first time using the INTERNET EXPLORER browser. Although little used in normal web browsing,
Internet Explorer is the reference browser in video surveillance for the management of ActiveX
plugins.
Make sure you are using Internet Explorer and not different browsers like Microsoft Edge,
Chrome, Firefox as they won't work.
ENABLE THE RUNNING OF ACTIVEX
Internet Explorer contains security settings that can prevent the installation of the ActiveX
component. Before proceeding with the connection, it is necessary to enable the execution of the
ActiveX not marked as safe. In Internet Explorer choose INTERNET TOOLS / OPTIONS
In the PROTECTION folder choose the area of interest (Internet or Local network) and click
CUSTOM LEVEL. Enable all items that relate to downloading and running ActiveX especially those
NOT marked as safe. It is possible to set the items indifferently on ENABLE or ASK FOR
CONFIRMATION. Finally save and restart the browser.
ACCESS WITH INTERNET EXPLORER
To access the camera with Internet Explorer, enter the IP address you have assigned in the

address box. In the example below we make a connection on the internal network to the
camera with IP address 192.168.2.30.
It is not necessary to specify the connection port as the cameras use port 80 by default,
which is the one normally used by browsers.
If for any reason you should change the HTTP port in the camera settings then it will be
necessary to specify the port to be called in the browser by following it to the IP address. In
this example we are calling the IP 192.168.2.30 on port 85.
ACTIVEX INSTALLATION
To be able to make RK series IP cameras viewable on the browser it is necessary to install the
ActiveX components. The first time you log in, the camera will detect the lack of these
components and show the following window.
