Using the DEFA Home mobile service
The Base Unit uses a GSM mobile data subscription for remote control and monitoring via SMS,
Internet or with an app on your Android Smartphone or iPhone / iPad. A specific SIM-card
designed for mobile data is pre integrated in the Base Unit. The Base Unit will only work with
this SIM and the DEFA Home subscription, which is set to work with the DEFA Home server for
system monitoring.
The DEFA Home subscription was registered when you purchased your Base Unit at a shop
or through our online store. You will receive a subscription confirmation from us either by email
or in writing, which includes your subscription number and your 4-digit PIN that you need to
remotely control your Base Unit. We recommend that you change the PIN to a personal 4-digit
code. If registration was not managed by the retailer at point-of-sales , you can purchase
the DEFA Home subscription and register the Home Base Unit on www.defahome.com.
The registration form can be found at the Customer service pages.
Please note that the availability of the different ways to remotely control the DEFA Home
system (SMS or Web/App) may depend on the subscription service you have selected.

2. VIA THE INTERNET.
Through your own page at www.defahome.com you log on using your subscription
number and PIN. Through a simple and user-friendly interface, you can easily remotely
control and monitor your summer house. You have full control over what is ON and OFF,
current temperature limits and so on. You also administer your own warning lists, so
that you know who should be notified in the event of a power cut and frost.
3. VIA A SMARTPHONE.
If you have an iPhone or Android mobile phone, you use the Smartphone app which you
download from the Apple or Android app stores free of charge. Search for DEFA AS. You log
in with your subscription number and PIN. You can personalise the app using your own
picture and to turn on and off, or control the temperature and monitor the temperature
in each zone. You can easily keep track of what’s happening, wherever you are.
4. VIA SMS (MOBILE PHONE TEXT MESSAGES).
You can send SMS commands to your DEFA Home facility. You can add one or more
mobile numbers in the system that are approved by the system in advance. This means
that we recognise the SMS number and there is no need to begin with a subscription
number and end with a PIN. You set up the PIN-free numbers on the webpage for
managing your cabin/home.

Tips and practical use
With DEFA Home, you can divide your cabin/house into 1-6 different heating zones. These
zones have their own profile and you can choose whether they should be controlled individu-
ally or collectively. In each zone you can have multiple DEFA Home Sockets, but only one
DEFA Home Temperature Sensor.
IN A SUMMER HOUSE WITH RUNNING WATER
(WITH FROST PROTECTION/THERMOSTATIC CONTROL)
If you have a house with running water, it will be necessary to use thermostatic control to
keep the whole house or individual zones of the house frost-free. It is essential that you have
a temperature monitor in the zone where the temperature is controlled. The Base Unit has a
built-in temperature sensor that is always connected to zone 1. For thermostatic control of
multiple zones, you can buy a separate wireless temperature sensor and install it where it will
monitor.
IN A HOUSE WITHOUT RUNNING WATER (WITHOUT FROST PROTECTION)
If you have a house without running water and don’t have to keep the house frost-free and
only want to turn on the heat to warm up the house before you arrive, you can choose the OFF/
ON function. This lets you use the thermostat on the radiator to keep the upper temperature
limit (comfort temperature).

Alerts
ALERTS IN THE EVENT OF A POWER CUT
The Base Unit has an internal battery and will send an SMS to you during a power cut,
when this feature is enabled. You will also receive an SMS when power is restored.
ALERTS FOR LOW BATTERY LEVEL
When one of the DEFA Home auxiliary equipement (Temperature Sensor, Motion Detector,
Magnet Contact), identifies low battery levels, the Base Unit will register this and a SMS will
be send to you asking you to switch batteries at the next opportunity.
ALERTS FOR LOW/HIGH TEMPERATURES
You can set the upper and lower temperature limits of up to six zones. If the temperature
goes above or below these limits, you’ll receive an SMS. You will also receive an SMS when
the temperature is back to normal. The temperature alarm can be activated via the Internet.

Problems that may prevent full use of
the DEFA Home system
COVERAGE
The Base Unit can be connected to an external antenna. If you experience problems with
coverage, you can easily unscrew the antenna and install an external, more powerful antenna.
Please contact us for advice about this.
THE BACK-UP BATTERY
The Base Unit can rely on battery power for a few hours but should always be connected to
a 230V adapter. Make sure the Base Unit always has a 230V connection in order for the
battery to be charged properly.
RADIO RANGE
The wireless accessories have a radio range of about 30 meters in an open space. The signal
range is reduced when passing through walls / floors / ceilings. When the equipment is used
at longer distances, ensure that there is minimal distance between the Base Unit and the
sensors in order to achieve the best possible communication.

trenger for kunne fjernstyre din baseenhet. Vi anbefaler at du endrer PIN-koden til en personlig
4-sifret kode.
Eksempelmelding fra PIN-fritt nummer: PÅ A
Eksempelmelding fra vanlig nummer: 012345 PÅ A 9876
Er ikke abonnementet registrert eller dekning mangler vil indikatorlampen på din baseenhet
blinke rødt/grønt, ta kontakt med vårt kundesenter hvis dette vedvarer.
