INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Privacy Assembly and Latch
SUITS 32 TO 45MM THICK DOORS
Step 1: Door Preparation
•Fold the supplied template and position template on door
edge
•Mark using a pencil centre of 20mm hole on both face
sides of the door
NOTE! This product can be “face fixed”(screwed onto the
door) or “through fixed”(screwed together through the
door). If you are going to “face fix”Privacy set, do not
mark nor drill the 4mm holes.
•Mark using a pencil position of two 4mm holes each side
of 20mm door face hole –each 4mm hole must be exactly
20mm from centre of larger 20mm hole
•Mark horizontal centre line of 25mm hole in door edge
using template, then mark centre of door thickness
•Drill 20mm hole through door face –drill hole from both
sides to prevent splintering
•If through fixing, drill two 4mm holes through door face -
drill hole from both sides to prevent splintering
•Drill 25mm hole in to the edge of the door, central to the
door thickness. Ensure this hole is drilled level and
squarely.
Step 2. Latch installation
•Place faceplate on latch and insert into hole, then mark
around the faceplate. Remove latch.
•Chisel marked rectangular section to a recess of 3mm or
until latch is flush with door edge.
•Insert latch into hole, position faceplate over bolt
•Pre-drill and fasten latch and faceplate to door with wood
screws provided.
Step 3. Spindle installation
•Slide spindle into square opening in latch

Step 4(A). Privacy Set installation (through fixing method)
•Unscrew gold post ends of through fix variable screw length screws provided
•Cut screws to required length depending on door thickness
•Unscrew caps off both internal and external Privacy set assemblies
•Position Internal assembly (with thumb turn) over spindle, ensuring the thumbturn is in the vertical
position
•Insert one gold post end into one hole on escutcheon matching 4mm hole in door
•Position external assembly over spindle on outside of door
•Insert screw into corresponding hole, and gently tighten using phillips head screwdriver into gold post on
internal side
•Repeat for the other 4mm hole, again gently tightening screw using screwdriver
•Test privacy set function by turning thumbturn –ensure smooth operation before tightening both screws
using a screwdriver
•Screw caps back on to both internal and external assemblies
Step 4(B). Privacy Set installation (face fix method)
•Unscrew caps off both internal and external Privacy set assemblies
•Position Internal assembly (with thumb turn) over spindle, ensuring the thumbturn is in the vertical
position
•Using screws provided, gently screw escutcheon onto door through holes in escutcheon –use three screws
per side and ensure at least two screws are on opposite sides of escutcheon
•Position external assembly over spindle on outside of door
•Using screws provided, gently screw escutcheon onto door through holes in escutcheon –use three screws
per side and ensure at least two screws are on opposite sides of escutcheon
•Test privacy set function by turning thumbturn –ensure smooth operation before tightening all screws
using a screwdriver
•Screw caps back on to both internal and external assemblies
Step 5. Strike plate Installation
•With door open, extend privacy bolt by turning
thumbturn
•Gently close door until latchbolt rests on door jamb. Mark
position of latchbolt on door jamb (this mark will be used
to position strike plate).
•Position strike plate centrally to bolt marking on jamb and
mark strike plate outline on jamb
•Mark centre of strike plate hole, and drill 20mm hole
inside the jamb to a depth of 11mm
•Chisel strike plate outline to a depth of 1mm or until strike
plate sits flush with the jamb
•Pre-drill holes and fasten the strike plate to the jamb using
wood screws provided
•Close Door and check Privacy Assembly operation

