Using the Operator Panel Buttons
The operator panel has a 4-line by 20-character liquid crystal display (LCD), control buttons, and number pad, which allow you to control your printer.

1. LCD Panel

2. (Back) button
lReturns to the previous screen.

3. buttons
lIn the Menu mode, selects submenus or values.

4. (Menu) button
lEnters the operation menu from the top menu, and returns to the top menu from any menu level.

5. buttons
lIn the Menu mode, scrolls through menus or items.
lTo enter numbers or passwords, press these buttons.

6. (Start) button
lStarts copying, scanning, or faxing.

7. Number pad
lEnters the characters and numbers, for example, for the Phone Book, and passwords.

8. (Redial/Pause) button
lEnters a pause.
lRedial the last telephone number you called.

9. (Cancel) button
lIn the Menu mode, returns to the standby mode without saving any settings.
lCancels the current working job (copy/scan/fax/print) by choosing the available listed job.

10. (Check) button
lSelects the currently displayed menu or item, or confirms the entry of values.
Printing a Panel Settings Page
The panel settings page shows current settings for the operator panel menus.


From the Printer Operator Panel

1. Press until >SETUP appears, and then press .

2. Press until >Reports appears, and then press .

3. Press until Panel Settings appears, and then press .
The panel settings page is printed.

From Your Computer

1. Click start®All Programs®Dell Printers®Additional Color Laser Software®Quick Launch Utility.
The Quick Launch Utility dialog box opens.

2. Click the Tool Box button.
The Tool Box dialog box opens.

3. Select the printer from Printer Name.
The Tool Box opens.

4. Click the Printer Settings Report tab.

5. Select Reports from the list at the left side of the page.
The Reports page is displayed.

6. Click the Panel Settings button.
The panel settings page is printed.

Printer Maintenance
Diagnosis
The Tool Box allows you to view or specify the system settings. You can also diagnose the system settings by using the Tool Box.
The Tool Box consists of the Printer Settings Report, Printer Maintenance, and Diagnosis tabs.
Printer Settings Report
The Printer Settings Report tab includes the Printer Information, Menu Settings, Reports, TCP/IP Settings, Tray Settings, Defaults Settings, and Fax
Settings pages.

Printer Information
Purpose:
To display the printer's system information.
Values:

Menu Settings
Purpose:
To display the printer's menu settings.
Values:
NOTE: A Password dialog box appears the first time you try to change settings on ToolBox when Panel Lock is set on the printer. In this case, input
the password that you have already specified, and click OK to apply the settings.
NOTE: Values marked by an asterisk (*) are the factory default menu settings.
Dell Service Tag Number
Displays the service tag number of your printer.
Printer Serial Number
Displays the serial number of your printer.
Printer Type
Displays the type of printing for the printer. Color Laser is displayed normally.
Asset Tag Number
Displays the asset tag number of your printer.
Memory Capacity
Displays the memory capacity.
Processor Speed
Displays the processing speed.
Firmware Version
Displays the version of the controller.
Network Firmware Version
Displays the NIC version.
MCU Firmware Version
Displays the version of the Machine Control Unit (MCU) firmware.
Printing Speed (Color)
Displays the speed for color printing.
Printing Speed (Monochrome)
Displays the speed for monochrome printing.
System Settings
Power Saver Timer
Mode 1
Displays the amount of time before the printer enters the power saver timer mode 1 after it finishes a
job.
Power Saver Timer
Mode 2
Displays the amount of time before the printer enters the power saver timer mode 2 after it finishes a
job.
Auto Reset
Displays the amount of time before the printer automatically resets the settings on the operator panel to
the defaults when no additional settings are made.
Panel Select Tone
Displays the volume of the tone that is emitted when the operator panel input is correct. Off indicates
that the tone is disabled.
Panel Alert Tone
Displays the volume of the tone that is emitted when the operator panel input is incorrect. Off indicates
that the tone is disabled.
Machine Ready Tone
Displays the volume of the tone that is emitted when the printer becomes ready. Off indicates that the
tone is disabled.
Copy Job Tone
Displays the volume of the tone that is emitted when a copy job is complete. Off indicates that the tone
is disabled.
Non-Copy Job Tone
Displays the volume of the tone that is emitted when a job other than copying is complete. Off indicates
that the tone is disabled.
Fault Tone
Displays the volume of the tone that is emitted when a job ends abnormally. Off indicates that the tone
is disabled.
