The Latitude D505 notebooks are designed for users who require essential productivity and dependable quality at great
value. Even with its affordable price, the D505 Series of notebooks doesn’t skimp on features, using the
Intel®Pentium®M or Celeron®M processors and choice of either a 15.0" or 14.1" XGA Active Matrix (TFT) display.
The D505 also offers Intel Centrino™ Mobile Technology featuring the Pentium M processor, the 855GME chipset and
Intel PRO/Wireless Mini PCI card.
Intuitive form factors and design
The Latitude D505 Series notebook is designed to be both easy to use and easy on your budget. Located on the side of
the unit, the modular bay’s innovative latch is designed for easy insertion and removal of the various D-Family module
options. Protecting your investment is important and the D505 Series’ internal magnesium alloy frame helps to provide
structural rigidity to protect what’s inside your notebook.
Docking solutions
The Latitude’s ingenious D-Family docking solutions allow you to view your system at a whole new level. The Latitude
D/View notebook stand elevates the notebook’s LCD to a more comfortable viewing position, replacing the need for an
external display and offering the convenience of an all-in-one desktop solution. Enjoy the convenience of D-Family
docking with the Latitude D/Port Advanced Port Replicator1.
Dell wired and wireless communications solutions
Every Dell Latitude D505 Series notebook features a wireless networking mini-PCI card, 56K2V.92-capable modem and
10/100 wired network card as part of the standard offering. Included in the wireless standard offering is a choice of
either the Dell TrueMobile™ wireless LAN solutions or the Intel PRO/Wireless Mini PCI card. The Dell Latitude D505
Series also features an optional TrueMobile 300 integrated Bluetooth®solution.
Performance and value with Intel Pentium M and Celeron M Processors
The Dell Latitude D505 Series of notebooks features the latest Intel Pentium M and Celeron M processors, which utilise
a micro-architecture incorporating a power-optimised 400MHz front side bus and aggressive clock gating designed for
higher performance and lower power. The Pentium M processors feature 1MB of power-managed cache and
Intel SpeedStep®technology. The new Celeron M processor provides good performance for great value and includes
512KB of level 2 cache. The D505 Series of notebooks also incorporates the Intel 855GME chipset, which offers
integrated graphics capability with 4X AGP and USB 2.0 support. The integrated graphics utilise the system memory as
a shared resource for both system memory and graphics needs, dynamically allocating a portion of the memory to
graphics based on the graphic demands of the applications currently in use. Up to 64MB of memory can be allocated to
graphics, and with integrated video acceleration you can view high-quality, full-frame-rate DVD on your notebook or
connected external display with exceptionally low power consumption.
