WHAT WE CARE ABOUT
To develop child carriers that are engineered to perfectly fit the needs
of children and parents, we have asked independent experts for their in-
put. For example, the Technical Inspection Association (TÜV SÜD) tests
the durability, load capacity and handling of the carrier and also analyz-
es the chemical properties of the fabrics. It further reviews each stage of
the production process. We’ve been working with them since 1996 and
our Kid Comfort was the first child carrier to be TÜV SÜD-GS certified.
For the ergonomic design of our new models we have worked closely
with Dr. Micha Bahr, director of pediatric surgery at the Klinikum Ingol-
stadt. The seat, for example, guarantees a healthy and safe sitting pos-
ture for the child: its width varies in relation to the adjusted height and
in combination with the foot rests creating the perfect individual posi-
tion. We are constantly working on our products, fine-tuning them to
perfection – that is what we care about. In the end, your child is the
most precious load you will ever carry!

Deuter Kid Comfort child carriers comply with the ASTM F2549-14 Standard, and are TÜV SÜD
tested and carry the GS safety certificate. For your child’s safety, please consider the following safety
instructions when using the Kid Comfort child carriers.
CAUTION – Do not use until the child is able to sit up by him/herself!
The child should be able to reach the sitting position on his/her own.
The maximum load capacity for the child carrier is 48 lbs (22 kg).
(child 40 lbs + load 8 lbs).
Always use child retention system and always use the foot loops. Ensure the
safety belt is adjusted correctly and fits the child (see step 3).
CAUTION – Never leave the child unattended in the carrier! Do not put the
child carrier down on a raised surface or on steep ground with the child
seated inside. Take the child out of the carrier during rest breaks.
Remaining seated for a long period of time can reduce blood flow
to the child’s legs. Therefore, use the Kid Comfort footrests and
regularly allow the child to get out for breaks.
CAUTION: The child’s head is higher than the carrier’s head. Pay attention to
low hanging branches, door frames and similar obstacles.

BThe ergonomically designed, pad-
ded harness system ensures the
highest levels of safety for your child. This helps
prevent any unexpected movements from the
child bringing the carrier off balance. Neon
buckles at the side make the harness system
clear and easy to operate and access. The seat
height is easy to adjust, even when the child
is sitting in the child seat. (3. Adjusting the
5-point safety harness)
CTwo stable grab handles make the
Kid Comforts easy to lift on the back
without additional help. (6. Putting on and
taking off the child carrier)
DThe sun roof option protects the
child’s sensitive skin from harmful sun
radiation. The sun roof is available for purchase
as an accessory for the Kid Comfort Active, is
included with the Kid Comfort, and is integrated
in the Kid Comfort Pro (5. Mounting sun and
rain roof)
EHeight adjustable seat allows
the child to easily sit in the ideal
position: the chin should be level with the
top of the chin pad. The contoured seat
cushion guarantees an ergonomic sitting
posture as the seat height is adjusted in
combination with the footrest placement. The
width of the seat increases with the height of
the seat to guarantee a natural spread squat
position; the lower the seat the narrower
the width for an upright sitting position.
(2. Adjusting the child seat)
FThe side entry is very popular
because it can be opened to make it
easier for the parent buckling the child into the
seat but also allows the child to climb into the
seat themselves.
GThe height adjustable footrests
support the blood flow of the child’s
legs and prevents the legs from falling asleep
or getting cold. The footrests are flexible, so the
child can change his/her leg and sitting position,
yet at the same time cannot lift him/herself out
of the seat. This construction further prevents
the child carrier from tilting over when standing.
(4. Adjusting the height of the footrests)
HThe sturdy aluminium frame
provides a stable platform with its
wide kickstand.
ISpecially constructed backsystems
guarantee Deuter’s high standards of
carry comfort:
LITE AIR SYSTEM
(KID COMFORT ACTIVE)
Light and airy with perfect load transfer
The ultra-lightweight, compact, full-contact
backsystem is directly connected to the frame
of the carrier, ensuring optimum load transfer
and stability, even with very light loads. The
Lite Air back panel sits close to the body while
the structure gives it excellent ventilation
performance.
(See illustration on back cover.
Proceed without child in carrier.)
1Adjust the
carry system
1.1 Loosen all the straps
1.2 Position the hip belt over the hip
bones so the belt is centered over the iliac
crest (the very top of the hip bone) and pull
tight and snug around the hips.
1.3 Tighten the shoulder straps, ensuring the
load remains on the hips.
1.4 To find the perfect position, use the back
length adjustment system to raise or lower the
position of the shoulder straps until the shoulder
straps’ anchor points rest between the shoulder
blades.
1.5.1 VariSlide System: Allows you to adjust
the back length precisely and quickly. a) Lift
the plastic buckle in the center of the back pan-
el. b) Simultaneously, either raise or lower the
shoulder straps to the desired position.
AIRCOMFORT SENSIC VARIO
(KID COMFORT, KID COMFORT PRO)
Optimized load transfer with maximum
ventilation
The Sensic System makes innovative use of the
space between the child carrier and the back
of the person carrying the child. This is where
the Aircomfort mesh provides ventilation by
allowing moisture to escape freely. The child’s
center of gravity remains in the same position
as it does with a full-contact backsystem. The
backsystem is directly connected to the frame
of the carrier, which has many advantages:
ergonomic position of the carrier is maintained,
and load is transferred effectively with its close
proximity to the wearer. The mesh provides the
wearer with the best possible ventilation.
JThe S-shaped shoulder straps are
covered in airy 3D AirMesh fabric for
superior comfort. They wrap themselves around
the wearer’s shoulders and retain their shape.
KThe Pull-Forward adjustment
system enables the hip belt to be
tightened easily even when the carrier is
fully loaded. Kid Comfort, Kid Comfort Pro:
Variflex ECL hip fins with ergonomic padding
wrap around the hips and follow the natural
movement of your body. Even distribution
of the load means less energy is required to
negotiate stairs, uneven ground or steeper
terrain.
LThe back length is fully adjustable in just
a few easy steps, so that most adults can
carry the child carrier. (1. Adjusting the carry
system)
USE

10 11
1.5.2 VariQuick System: Undo the Velcro
strap located in the middle of the back panel
and thread it through four of the loops. Then pull
the Velcro strap tight and secure it in place.
1.6Adjust the angle of the stabilizer straps:for
S-M back length use the lower buckles and for
M-L, use the upper buckles.Tighten the stabiliz-
er straps on the shoulder straps and hip belt to
ensure a secure fit. This guarantees extra stabil-
ity on difficult terrain. For more ventilation loos-
en the stabilizer straps.
After adjusting the carry system to the individ-
ual’s back length, take off the child carrier and
continue with the adjustment of the height of
the child seat.
2Adjust the height
of the child seat
2.1 Before adjusting, place the child carrier
on the ground with the kickstand fully extend-
ed and locked in place. Loosen the side straps
and open the side entry. Loosen and open the
5-point safety harness.
2.2 To completely lower the child seat, lift the
chin pad and loosen the buckle for the seat’s
height adjustment. Push the seat down.
2.3 During the following steps always secure
the child carrier by placing one foot on the kick-
stand or having another adult secure the carrier.
2.4 Lift the child into the carrier or ask the
child to enter the carrier via the side entry. Se-
cure the shoulder straps of the 5-point safety
harness and the chest strap.
2.5 To adjust the seat to the correct height,
pull on the adjustment strap until the child’s chin
reaches just above the seat adjustment buckle.
Slip one hand below the seat to support the ad-
justment, raising the seat and child with your
hand. The child is positioned correctly when he/
she can clearly see over the top of the carrier
and, when possible, move their arms freely.
3Adjust the 5-point
safety harness
3.1 Once the child’s seat is positioned cor-
rectly, fasten the two ends of the safety harness
straps into the neon buckles at the side of the
carrier.
3.2 To adjust the safety harness, release the
Velcro strap of the harness at the child’s back
and secure it in position. Ideally the anchor
points of the safety harness should rest between
the child’s shoulder blades.
3.3 Tighten the shoulder straps of the 5-point
safety harness until snug, but not too tight. Fold
down the chin pad.
3.4 Close the side entry buckle and tighten
the straps on both side wings of the child’s seat-
ing area.
4Adjust the height
of the foot rests
4.1 The contoured seat cushion guarantees
an ergonomic sitting posture as the seat height
is adjusted in combination with the footrest
placement. Thread the footrest straps either in
the a) upper or b) lower position/buckle de-
pending on the child’s seated position. While ad-
justing, keep the detachable footrest straps out
of the reach of children. As a general rule: mount
the footrests in the upper buckle for smaller chil-
dren with a higher seat position (4.2). For
taller children with a lower seat, mount the foot-
rests in the lower position (4.3). Then adjust
the footrests to the ideal height by tightening or
releasing the straps:
4.2 The seat width increases with the height
to guarantee a natural spread squat position for
small children. The legs should rest slightly an-
gled in the footrests.
4.3 The lower the seat, the narrower the
width for an upright sitting position for slight-
ly taller children. The legs should neither dangle
nor should the angle be too compressed.
Finally, tighten the bottom strap to prevent the
foot from slipping out (the foot loop).
5Mount the
sun roof
NOTE! Because children have very sensitive skin,
protect them from UV rays by using a sun roof
(available to buy as an accessory for the Kid
Comfort Active , included with the Kid Comfort
and integrated in the Kid Comfort Pro). Always
be conscientious of keeping your child protect-
ed from the sun.
5.1 Sun Roof Kid Comfort & Kid Comfort Ac-
tive: insert rods in both fabric channels on the
front of the head rest.
5.2 Sun Roof Kid Comfort Pro: fully open the
zipper on the head rest and pull out integrated
sun roof.
5.3 Connect eh buckles into place on either
side of the chin pad to keep the sun roof in
place.
The KC Rain Cover Deluxe (sold separately) can
be stretched over the top of the sun roof (not
shown). Fits over all Deuter child carriers with
a sun roof.
6Put on and take off
the child carrier
6.1 Make sure the safety harness and the
side entry buckles are fastened securely. One
hand holds the grab handle on the head rest to
safely secure the child carrier.

12 13
The Kid Com-
fort material can
be hand washed
with luke-warm water and gentle soap.
A The removable cover on the de-
tachable chin pad should be washed by
hand and should not be machine dried.
To ensure safety, always check the carrier be-
fore each use for proper functioning. Regularly
examine all straps and the frame for wear and
tear. Never try to reshape a bent frame your-
self. For necessary repairs and /or replacement,
please contact Deuter at info@deuterusa.com.
6.2 With the other hand, grab the handle on
the opposite side. Spin the carrier so that the
backsystem is facing you.
Make sure the shoulder straps of the carry sys-
tem are loose and the chest strap and hip belt
are open. Make sure you will not hit any ob-
jects when lifting and positioning the carrier
on your back. Make sure to avoid rash move-
ments.
6.3 Take a wide stance. Lift the child carrier
by the handle on the back side with one hand
and stabilize it with the slightly angled oppo-
site leg.
6.4 Put your free arm through the respective
shoulder strap and place the entire load of the
child carrier on this one shoulder. Let go of the
handle and put on the other shoulder strap.
6.5 Place the hip fins centrally on the iliac
crest (the very top part of the hip bones) and
tighten snugly.
6.6 Adjust the shoulder straps. Place the
chest strap at a comfortable height and se-
cure. This provides extra stability for the shoul-
der straps.
6.7 Fold in the kickstand by reaching behind
you. The audible “click” sound ensures that
the kickstand has snapped into its standing or
transport position.
For taking off the child carrier follow the steps
in reverse order.
