1. Introduction to Across System Gel Card Reader
a) Intended use
Across System Gel Card Reader is used for reading and assessing the agglutination reactions
occur in Across gel cards.
In order for Across System Gel Card Reader to operate properly, original software and image-
processing card should be installed.
b) Appearance and Hardware
The appearance of the device and its parts are indicated below.
•Front Panel
Touchscreen, gel card installation lever at front panel are important parts for
the user.

Rear Panel
•Adapter insert, Adapter insert 12V, 5A DC power supply is used.
•Power Supply

•On/Off Switch
•Fuse Holder (glass fuse, 3A)
•Screen button is used to turn on the screen after the device is opened
•VGA insert is used for transmitting the view on the screen of device to an external monitor.
•USB inserts are used for connecting computer peripheral units such as Mouse, Keyboard, printer
•Ethernet insert is used to share the data from network
•Microphone earphone are sound board outputs

All the points stated below have a direct impact on user safety and therefore they should
be considered during utilization:
•Use the device only for intended purposes stated in user manuals.
•Do not put any other objects than the gel cards into the sliding part of device.
•Never operate the device if it does not fulfill the basic functions or if there are
no observed faults.
Possible faults are listed below:
- Damages occur due to falls.
- Damages occur due to liquid contact.
- Damages due to long and inappropriate handling conditions and protecting in
unfavorable conditions.
- When the power cable or connector is damaged.
•Do not use the device in places which are not appropriate for its design or
with improper material.
•Do not use any other accessories than those designed or recommended by
the manufacturer.
•Fuses of device should be replaced by trained technicians only.
•Device can be disassembled only by the personnel of technical service for
internal cleaning and/or repair; energy connections should be cut before this
transaction.
•Turn off the device after utilization.
c) Hardware Recommended by Manufacturer Company
Various hardware can be used on the device. However, various hardwares might cause
the device to hinder or fail while executing its functions. Because of this, no other

hardware shall be used except than those considered as necessary and recommended
by the manufacturer. These hardware are as follows:
•Rs232 dialer
•Keyboard & Mouse
•Bar code Reader
•Printer
•Flash memory (Accompanied by Authorized Technician or under his knowledge,
for backup)
2. Use of Across System Gel Card Reader
Click on the gel reader symbol on desktop to start using.
The window in the below will appear.

There are three parts in the picture above. Let us review these three parts.
User
User part is the part where will conduct our work. Different definitions can be made for
each user, and we will examine from service menu how these definitions can be made.
Once we enter the user part, we will see a window as in below.

The functions of buttons located in the user window picture above are as follows.
1. After the card is placed into the device, it is used to initiate the manual reading process.
2. It indicates the detailed results of the selected patient from data table no.7.

3. It indicates the results of the selected patient from data table no.7 as a report. You can
send data to the printer from the popped screen.
4. It clears the data used for searching the records.
5. It is used to make arrangements in the information of selected patient.
6. The selected patients at the "Select" column are sent to Lis computer collectively.
7. Space where patient information is kept
8. It indicates the Start Date for patient inquiry
9. It indicates the Final Date for patient inquiry

•Card Reading
In order to do card reading, first we should examine from the picture how the card
installation will be done.
After the card is placed as in the picture with its bar code on the left, the slide should be
slightly pushed manually until the stopping point. System automatically perceives which
test we wish to study from the bar codes of the cards. When we want to re-read a
recorded card, system will warn us and the assessment of card will not be realized. The
most significant point we should be careful about after the bar code direction during the
installation of card is to place the card fully in the slot on loading lever. Loading lever will
be pushed and device will perceive that the card entered to reading part and the result
will be assessed. The image below will be displayed on the screen. In order to approve
the test result, user will enter data of Patient's Name/Bar code and/or Donor Name/ Bar
code area and pushes on SAVE button.

After the saving is completed, it returns to the previous screen (user screen) automatically. In
cases when more than one patient is studied on the same card, the screen below will appear
after the recording is completed.

If a new patient is selected, the results screen for the other patient in the same card will appear;
if we select end test, other wells to be assessed are delayed for another study; and when the
same card is located on a future date and when the same card is put on a future date, "test 2"
warning message will be given by the system and the device directly interprets the second test.
This is shown on the picture below.

•Edit
After the recording is completed, if any parts for editing will appear, we can edit those
by using the edit button. The registered patient on the patient list will be marked from the check
box. When we click on edit button, a password screen will appear and we will type "diapro" on
the password area; after making the necessary editing, recording will be completed. Editing
screen is shown below.

All of the areas shown on the picture can be changed. When there is a change in the part
indicating the well values, this will be done during the record and in the editing part and "M" will
be assigned in front of the value. This is to indicate that there was a manual intervention.
•Lis Send
After the patient recording is done, these may be sent to lis. There are two ways to make this
transmission. In order to determine the Lis send status; one should enter service menu, system
settings and select "Lis Status" and/or "Save+Lis" on the window opened. The active status of
both will not cause any problems. Let us examine the send statuses below.
1- Save+Lis
This sending type provides automated transmission to Lis after the patient is recorded.

Recorded patients are selected with the check boxes next to patient list; and "LIS" button at
the left corner of screen will be clicked, and sending is complete.
•Report
Report button provides the selection of one or more patients in the patient list, and all the
information is printed on the screen. These information on the screen can be printed out by
clicking on the printing button located at the second row on the top left corner of screen. Sample
image can be seen on the picture below.
If you need a gel card imaged report or printout, you can do this by double clicking on the patient
in the patient list. You can print out by using the print button on the right below corner of the
screen that appears.

•This button indicates the information of the patient selected from the patients list as in the
picture below.

•Find
Find button provides searching the patients in the date range and name filter within the
patients list.
3-Across System Gel Card Reader Service Menu
In order to access the Service Menu, service part should be selected while entering the
system. In order to access the service menu, "diapro teknik" password should be entered in
the password window. There are two parts that should be used by users in the service menu.
These are User Definition and Test Loading menus.
When we enter the service menu, the window in the below will appear.

a)User Definition
In order for accessing the system by the defined users, the User Password in the first place at
system settings should be activated. If this activation is not made, we will need to log in the
system without any user name and password.
When we enter the user definition menu, the window in the below will appear.

The functions of buttons located at the right side of User Definition window above are
described below.
•Add : It is used to add new users.
•Edit : It is used to make changes in the information of existing users.
•Delete: It is used to delete the existing user.
b)Test Loading
When we enter the test loading menu, two areas as active and passive tests will appear as
indicated in the picture below.

In this part, the tests that user wants to activate are selected from passive test part and
should be sent to Test Active part with send button. In order to make it passive, same
transaction should be done reversely.

4-User Maintenance
Cleaning and/or decontamination can be executed by user or responsible individuals.
The cases where Card Reader should be cleaned and decontaminated are listed below:
•When hazardous fluids are spilled inside or on the device
•Before handling
•If the device is required to be disassembled for any reason; also, if any liquid is spilled inside the
device, cleaning and decontamination should be executed. Such transactions should be
executed by a Trained Technician. Consult your technical service in such cases.
•Device can be cleaned and decontaminated in the form below:
•Turn off the power and remove the power cable; wait until the device is cooled.
•Clean the external surface of the device with water and soap.
•After cleaning the surface, external surfaces should b decontaminated by using 70 % alcohol
solution.
•Cleaning and/or decontamination transactions should be executed by using protective gloves.
•The cleaning and/or decontamination of device surface should be realized after the energy
connection of the device is cut.
•Before using any other cleaning or decontamination methods except for those recommended
by manufacturer; the method to be used should be controlled by the authorized service.
5-Across System Gel Card Reader Handling, Operation and Protection Conditions
a)Handling Conditions
•In cases of switching places within the same room, the device should not be shaken.
•Contact the technical services for switching the location within the same room.
•In cases of transferring during repair and maintenance, you should transfer with original
packaging.
b)
Operation and Protection
•Temperature should be between 15 C and 28 C.
•There should be no vibration or shaking in the counter.
