Overview
This manual does not explain the operation of either the SYSTEM 3505/Prism LX
or the DESPLEX system, each of which have their own manuals. SYSTEM 3505
Manual PN 700248-0001 and DESPLEX Manual PN 700813-0001. Please refer
to those manuals for more detail on the SYSTEM 3505 and the DESPLEX
equipment.
This manual covers the connectivity and operation of the DESPLEX equipment
from the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX as well as the use of the two man rule. Newly
added in Rev D is the ability to connect to two independent DESPLEX SYSTEMs.
This feature is only available in the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX Prism LX version
of the product.
SYSTEM 3505/Prism LX Interface
The DESPLEX equipment was originally marketed with a DOS computer interface
named SCT I and SCT II. As this product did not provide enough flexibility,
Digitize abandoned it when it purchased the DESPLEX product line from SDS in
Early 2001.
Digitize designed an interface to the DESPLEX card rack and can connect its
SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX in place of the SCT DOS application.
An interconnection drawing can be found in the rear of this manual on how to
connect the DESPLEX rack to the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX.
Some of the advantages of connecting the DESPLEX to the SYSTEM
3505/PRISM LX include:
•User can program the location of the Subscriber unit which will be
annunciated on the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX when an event is activated.
This type of message is called a “Generic” message and is noted by ending
the account number entered with a “-“. In addition the SYSTEM
3505/PRISM LX adds a “70” to all DESPLEX accounts so it can
distinguish them from other alarm input devices. Thus the account
contains the starting number “70” it then appends the Panel, Zone and
Point information. Thus 700702-01 would be a DESPLEX account “70”
with Panel 07, Zone 02 and Point 01. The generic account would be
700702-“when entered into the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX as a Zone.

700293-0001 Rev D Page 2
•Dual RACK DESPLEX interfaces will continue to use the “70” as the start
of the 9 digit account number. However, the second rack connected via a
separate Serial port will start all account numbers with “7A”. This is
important to note when you are adding text messages. Account “700104-
02” is not the same as “7A0104-01”
•User can also enter Zone 700702-01 (or 7A0702-01 for second rack
systems) when entering a zone specific message for the point being
monitored.
•The DESPLEX events can be routed to an Automation system via the
SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX.
•The SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX will display communications faults
between the DESPLEX racks and the Subscriber units.
•Just like the SCT product, the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX cannot advise if
a device is no longer connected if such disconnection occurred while the
SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX was turned OFF, then turned ON when the
Subscriber or other parts of the system have been disconnected. This
feature can be incorporated into the product should the customer wish to
upgrade the overall capability of the DESPLEX/SYSTEM 3505/PRISM
LX communications.
•The SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX must be equipped with sufficient MEM-
600 devices to accommodate all of the messages that the customer desires
to enter into the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX.
•The SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX can accommodate the Two Man rule for
monitoring Subscriber units.
•A command mode is available which allows the user to interrogate the
DESPLEX from the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX for verification of various
conditions in the overall DESPLEX system. The command mode is an
option that needs to be added to the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX at
additional cost.
Two Man Rule
•The two man rule allows the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX provide a 45
second exit delay to any number of input devices at the Subscriber
location. This allows the user to Arm the subscriber unit, then exit the
facility via the Exit delayed zone(s) and the exit delay zone(s) will
arm after 45 seconds. While the event will be logged by the SYSTEM
3505/PRISM LX, it will Acknowledge itself and Not send the event to
the Automation system. However, if after the Exit delay expires, the

700293-0001 Rev D Page 3
exit door or other device being monitored is not secure, the SYSTEM
3505/PRISM LX will activate an Alarm and will relay this
information to the Automation system.
•An account set to “Latched” will activate immediately when the panel
is Armed and the Point goes into Alarm.
•A Tamper Point will report at all times regardless if the panel is
Armed or not. Any point that is not set to Exit Delay or Latch
becomes a Tamper point.
•The user can enter up to 1,000 such Exit delay points into the
SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX via the 24 SET Menu.
42 SET Menu
The SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX manual provides information on how to access the
SET menus as well as entering the password needed to access these menus. For
the purpose of this manual, it will be assumed that the user understands how to
access this menu.
When accessing the 42 SET menu the display will look as follows:
Figure 1, Press FUNC to enter into the 42 SET Menu

700293-0001 Rev D Page 4
If you’re Prism LX has two independent DESPLEX racks you will first need to
select which rack accounts you want to set up.
Figure 2, After entry to the 42 SET Menu, the unit will display this screen.

700293-0001 Rev D Page 5
For a Prism LX system, the display now adds 70 as this is part of the account
number in either single rack or dual rack systems
If you selected DESPLEX “A” Rack, the screen will start with the “7A” account
number. All other selections are per the single rack DESPLEX interfaces

700293-0001 Rev D Page 6
Figure 3, Selecting Exit Delay or Latch
You can select the desired mode by pressing the soft key “TOGGL LATCH/EXIT
DELAY before or after entering the desired account to select between Exit Delay
or Latch.
Figure 4, Enter desired Panel and Zone
As you enter the desired two digit Zone (enter leading zero for Zone 1-9 as 01 –
09) the display will show you the Building name. In this example for Panel 07 and
Zone 01, the user entered a Generic message for Zone account “700701-“ which is
now displayed as “SUBBASE BEEMAN CENTER B-711 471-2582.

700293-0001 Rev D Page 7
Figure 5, Adding desired Point to the entered Panel and Zone
As you continue to enter the balance of the desired account by entering the Point
number, the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX will now add the account specific
message if the user previously entered it as account “700701-01”.
At this time you can press the “ADD ACCOUNT” to add the selected Exit delay
and or Latch account. (Note that the soft key states “ADD LATCH ACCOUNT”,
however it’s the “EXIT DELAY” or “LATCH” that determines the state added.
Figure 6, Delete Latch Account
As soon as you pressed “ADD LATCH ACCOUNT” a new soft key will appear
allowing you to DEL LATCH ACCOUNT. If you entered the account incorrectly,

700293-0001 Rev D Page 8
you can delete if at this time. Any time you enter an existing account, your first
choice will be to delete that account.
Figure 7, Changing between Exit Delay and Latch
After you enter the desired PN, ZN and PT, you can toggle between LATCH and
Exit delay. If the soft key “CHANGE EXIT TYPE” appears, that indicates that by
pressing this key you will toggle to the state noted in the 24 SET Menu. In this
case the account would be changed from EXIT DELAY to LATCH.
Phantom Account Numbers
Some of the events that are reported by the DESPLEX do not have an account
number associated with them. Some of these events include AC or DC failure as
well as other events. The SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX assigns a phantom zone in
the range of -80 thru -99 to these events. A complete table of these accounts
follows:
Zone -82 “ ALARM LOOP SHORT “
Zone -83 “ ALARM LOOP OPEN “
Zone -84 “TAMPER LOOP SHORT “
Zone -85 “TAMPER LOOP OPEN “
Zone -86 “ KEYPAD TAMPER “
Zone -87 “TOO MANY KEPYAD ATTEMPTS”

700293-0001 Rev D Page 9
Zone -88 “ KEYPAD DURESS “
Zone -89 “ KEYPAD ALARM “
Zone -90 “ ARM/DISARM SIGNAL “
Zone -95 “ RECEIVED NOK “
Zone -96 “ AC POWER FAIL “
Zone -97 “ BAT POWER BAD “
Zone -98 “ SYNC ALARM “
Zone -99 “ DESPLEX TAMPER “
Canned Events
With the October 2013 program release of the DESPLEX option to the SYSTEM
3505/PRISM LX operating program, it is not longer required to add a unique text
message for events within the card rack and or subscriber unit that are common to
the rack and or subscriber. Examples of such events include AC or DC power
failure. The following is a list of all of the canned messages. If desired, you can
override a “canned message” by actually adding a message for the unique Phantom
account number. If your system already has pre-programmed messages, you can
free up additional memory in the MEM-600 (not used in Prism LX units) devices
by deleting these messages.
The canned events are as noted above.
Auto Restore
Unfortunately the DESPLEX system does not send restore signals for all of the
events. The events that do not restore are some of the ones with Phantom zones.
These include the -8x series of account numbers.
For this reason, the SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX will auto restore these events after
45 seconds of activation as follows:
The SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX places the -8x accounts back to auto restore in 45
seconds after the last -8X account is received, thus if you get any account that ends
in a -8x it will restore after 45 seconds. However, if after 30 seconds you get
another -8x event, it will take an additional 45 seconds to restore the two accounts
and so on if more accounts are processed.

Printer Output Tape Example
The following two printouts illustrate what happens during an exit delay when the
“Main” exit door is opened. The first printout illustrates that the main exit door
was closed prior to the exit delay ending. The second the exit door is not closed
prior to the exit delay expiring.
Note that in this scenario, the facility was armed, then the exit activated and
restored prior to the expiration of the exit delay. The event printed, auto Acked and
nothing was sent to automation.
Note that in this scenario, the facility was armed, then the exit activated but the
exit was not secured. The event initially printed, auto acked and nothing was sent
to automation. Then after the exit delay expired (45 seconds) the event was re-

700293-0001 Rev D Page 11
activated by the 3505, requires an ACK and sent to automation. Per the two Man
rule, the only way to restore 700204-06 is to disarm the DESPLEX panel.
Command and Control
The SCT DOS utility allowed you to query various parts of the DESPLEX system by
entering a three letter command. The response to that request was noted on the SCT
terminal. The SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX allows you to mimic this format by entering
the desired Panel and Loop and then selecting the proper soft key to activate the desired
command. The SYSTEM 3505/PRISM LX then opens up the thermal printer and allows
responses from the desired panel(s) to print on the thermal printer. The printer will
continue to print until 15 seconds laps with no activity. The printer will then turn OFF
and not print any additional communications received from the DESPLEX system.
