Quick Start Bluetooth Installation Guide
for Porsche CR-1& CR-2 Radios

Introduction:
Just because you drive an older car does not mean you have to settle
or old technology. And or those who are adamant about hanging on
to the original radio we o er a line o adapters sure to open up a
whole lot o di erent options or listening to music and other audio
content. The A2DIY-CR12 Kit o ers Bluetooth Hands-Free and
Streaming Audio rom any Smartphone or Tablet with A2DP and
HF Pro ile, a 3.5mm input jack to connect and play non-Bluetooth
devices (e.g. Mp3 Players, Satellite Radio kit, iPods etc.) and optional
3Amp USB Charging port to keep devices ully charged. The
A2DIY-CR12 is exclusive to Porsche 911, 944, 964, 968, 993 and
others with a CR-1 or CR-2 Cassette Radio and replaces the CD
Changer (i present). Keep the radio and car you love while
enjoying Bluetooth eatures only available on newer cars.
Installation:
1. Remove radio rom dash. Vehicle speci ic Radio removal
instructions are not part o this guide.
2. Locate 13-pin CD Changer port on Radio (See Fig. 1)
CD Changer (i present) must be disconnected and will no
longer unction.
3. Connect 13-pin plug rom adapter (See Fig. 2) to 13-pin
connector on radio (See Fig. 1)

4. Connect supplied 3.5mm plug (See Fig. 3) to “AUX” input
on Module (See Fig. 6). Run other end to dash or wherever
auxiliary device will reside (within 3 t.)

5. Connect control button (See Fig. 4) 3.5mm plug to “CTR”

6. Consider where to install control button. Keep in mind the
control button must be within drivers reach (cable is 6 t.
long). Once you decide on location, simply remove tape
backing (See Fig. 4) and adhere to lat sur ace.
10. Install microphone to visor or headliner using included visor
clip (See Fig. 5).

11. Route microphones down side pillar, behind dash. Connect
microphone 3.5mm jack to “MIC” input on module

12. Secure adapter box and proceed to next section.
OPTIO AL USB CHARGI G PORT
(For charging, no audio playback)
This add on option provides up to 3 Amps charging current. Should
you decide on this option, we suggest 2 mounting schemes:
A. Flush to dash/panel requires drilling a ¾” hole in dashboard
B. Flush with Support bracket (mount USB terminal wherever
your installation demands without drilling)
Flush to Dash or Panel (drilling required)
1. Drill a ¾” hole in dash or panel using a step drill bit or
equivalent (See Fig. 7)

2. Insert 3 t. USB male terminal through ¾” hole created in
step 1 and connect Module (See Fig. 9)

3. Push USB head (See Fig. 10) until it snaps in place and lush
with mounting sur ace (See Fig. 11)

4. Tuck and secure any extra wire rom moving parts and test
operation (See Enabling the AUX section below)
A. USB with Bracket Mount (No drilling)
1. Locate a lat sur ace at location o choice within 3.2 t. o
radio and mount USB support bracket (See Fig. 12) to
sur ace using adhesive/tape or screws.

2. Repeat steps 2 rom “Flush to Dash or Panel” instructions.
Tuck and secure any extra wire away rom moving parts and test
operation (
See Bluetooth Pairing and Connection

Pairing:
Pairing varies rom Phone to Phone but the basic steps are the same.
This process is done upon initial install and will not have to be
repeated
1. Turn Ignition and Radio “ON”
Blue LED in peephole blink rapidly (pairing mode)
2. On A2DP device: go to
Settings, Wireless & Networks,
Bluetooth Settings
3. Select
Bluetooth
and turn on, select Bluetooth settings
4. Tap
Scan or devices
.
5. Wait or Bluetooth device name (DIY-AUDIO) to appear
and select it. Once paired Blue LED inside peephole will
blink once every 3 seconds and emits a con irmation tone.
Pairing multiple devices
The A2DIY-CR12 will pair to only one device at a time. To pair a second
device, you must irst un-pair current device (press/hold control button or
more than 2 seconds and listen or tone) or simply go to current device
setting and set Bluetooth to OFF.
Warning! Voice Recognition applications (e.g. Siri, Google Play etc.) must
be enabled on device as you would in portable mode.
Test Operation:
1. Turn ignition and Radio “ON”
2. Enter CD Mode on Radio.
3. Launch Smartphone or tablet Audio streaming application
4. Use radio volume control button to set the playback level.
Warning!
Playlist/Track selection is *NOT* possible rom the
Radio. Use Audio device built-in controls to access audio iles.
5. I correct operation is con irmed go ahead and reinstall radio.

Note: i no auxiliary device is connected, pressing the control button once pauses
audio stream

Frequent asked questions
1. What is the di erence between A2D-CR12 and A2DIY-CR12?
The A2D-CR12 supports Steaming audio, the A2DIY-CR12 supports
Streaming audio, Hands-Free calling and Auxiliary input (3.5mm jack)
2. Does the A2DIY-CR12 work on all Porsche Radios?
NO; works only on Becker CR1 and CR2 cassette radios only.
3. Can I control Smartphone rom radio buttons?
NO; you must continue to use Smartphone built-in controls and
display to operate the device. Volume button on radio is used to set
the playback level.
4. Can I pair or save more than one device to the A2DIY-CR12?
YES; more than one device (slaves) can be paired however only one
connection can be active at a time. To pair a second device, you must
disconnect irst device.
5. How to I activate Siri or Google Play?
Use the same method o enabling voice activation as you would in
portable mode. The A2DIY-CR12 does not enable Voice Guidance.
6. Can I connect and play USB lash drive to optional USB port?
NO; Optional USB port is or charging only. No playback or synching
